1. Ditto, First bass for me also.....paid £60 back in 1981. Laughably poor.....
2. Just bought Pete's Affinity P for a project.....great guy to deal with. Please apologise to your wife on my behalf Pete for her having to endure a MacDonalds!
3. Up is a SR P 3 ply torty guard as made by our very own Bass Doc (Howard). Very light play wear and as Howard is very very reasonable price wise this is offered at £10 plus P&P,
4. Looks nice to me, a RW Ray you wouldn't need to be too precious about. I'm spent up otherwise I'd have had a punt.
5. Very pretty. Great little basses....
6.
It may be just me, but I don't think so. I used to always go to this forum to find some interesting stuff and good debate, albeit sometimes controversial. That's what attracts people, in my opinion. Just lately, I don't see the usual suspects (you know who you are) very often. I recently started a thread that was mildly controversial and was pulled up almost immediately on it. Is it just me? Fair enough if it is, but it mainly seems like stuff for sale and little else.
Maybe we've all become staid and boring or are now victims of our limited capacity to think outside of the box..................................................................................................................... ...........................................................................................................................Bazinga.
7.
If the music is too loud on stage, it affects my balance, and i can be seen wandering/ falling off the side on a regular basis. I now where ear plugs
Ditto.....and I used to live in Birmingham, must be a connection. My main quirk is using my little finger far too much on my fretting hand, or is that just crappy, lazy technique?
8. Had one of these meself, also let go of it because me and 5s don't mix. Easily the equivalent of a Ray 5, for less money. Bump.
9. Now present at chez MTB, lovely bass and Tony's a great guy to deal with. Wish I'd had time for a coffee! My first US Fender in a few years.....hope I don't miss my MM too much cos there's no room for another 4 string fretted in the house ( once I manage to pick up Pete's Precision.........)
10. Good decision. The SBMM is a good option, the one I used for the night was a bit lighter than the 2 EBMM ones I've had (and felt better for it). To be honest I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference soundwise and the string spacing/playability was just the same. Also taking this route if you decide you need a higher level 5er for the future or that you dont need a 5 then you shouldnt lose much cash on the SBMM and you get to keep that particularly fine Ric.
11. Don't do it Mark! Pick up a used Sterling Ball Ray5 (played one the other weekend, definitely within 95% of a 'real' Ray5) and keep hold of the Rick. You know you'll end up regretting it............don't forget your parting words on the Derby ring road!
12. Great score Nick, would like to end up with something similar one day!
13. Chris......couldn't quite get the £1400 together so I've settled for a standard 4003. Give myself more chance to bond this time! Now down to one Stingray tho....:-(
14. I love my Streamline 4 more than any bass I've ever owned......thank god this is a five or I'd be looking at a divorce. Bump
15. You too mate, hope you're well. If the two of us haven't convinced him there's no hope :-)
16.
Rich, under no circumstances part with this bass - Having heard you play it in a band context and also having played it myself, it's a great bass and a keeper. Your band mates wouldn't know the difference if you put up signs, LOL! Rich
Listen to Richard he knows of what he speaks. I've watched you over the last few years go from Jazz to P and back again......you've finally ended up with a good un, face it, accept it and spend your money elsewhere......what about a nice holiday? Having said that what do I know......the only bass I've stuck with over the last couple of years is Rich's old Status Streamline. But honestly letting go of this one would be a mistake, and that's from a guy who would gladly give you £700 for it.
17. Richard, tell the band they are talking boXXoc7s. They have not a clue, this baby should sing/thump (as required) with the right amp settings. PS...I missed out on this fella when Craig had it FS, you're a lucky guy!
18. Hate em meself, can't understand why anyone would want to own one ;-)
19. Pete, That pick guards gotta go......unless you want to start wearing a nice big frilly shirt to go with it...
20.
Staffordshire
As I always suspected...;-)
21. And sold to Mr Kemo.......only seems fair as the Neck originally came from his fair self! And that just goes to prove that its a lot easier to sell a Sue Ryder than a 30th anniversary stingray!
22. Sorry AJ, never got around to it......i'll try and sort some later today.
23. No longer got a need for this little monkey so it's up for sale. Didn't get on with the somewhat chunky Ryder P neck so the neck has been changed for a Squier P bass affinity neck (rosewood board) that I picked up from here. The body has no nicks or dings, the neck has a few small marks but nothing significant. Comes with original gig bag. Would prefer a pick up or close meet up ( based near Sheffield) but will post if I can find a suitable carton. Only looking for £60 - the parts are worth more than that, but a close offer may be entertained if you can pick it up. Sorry no pics, but there's a thread a mile long that shows you what these look like!!!
24. Cheers Jon, Got an audition with an 80s stylee rock band on Thursday...if this hasn't gone by then I might just end up keeping it.
