1. In the same position myself mate (that's why the Ray is up for sale). Very versatile are single H rays but can't do the P bass thing so well.
2. Pretty fine Ray that! I've a black Ray of about the same age with a highly figured neck......must have slipped through the QC police.
3.
Who'd have thought the same two 30th Anni Stingray's would be back on at the same time aye Mart??
You're not wrong.....unlikely to happen again, maybe I should start the 30th anni club in the porn section to see how many are owned by BCers.
4. Wish you were a bit closer to the socialist republic Col.....I'd love to try this out. If for some odd reason this or mine hasn't gone in a couple of weeks I'm doing a lecture sess down at Swansea Uni - just a thought.
5. Some interesting trade options but still here at the minute.
6. Decided to have yet another go because hard cash will be easier to exchange for the bass more suited to my needs! £1150ovno
7. Lovely this Chris.....just wish I could afford it.
8. Hey take my Ray 30th, it's less £ and the neck socket is like a gnats chuff. Only single H tho.......never mind. All the best, I hope you get this sorted.
9. Watching with interest.........thought this was mine at first. Thought I'd sold it and forgotten! Good price for this, great basses, deserves to sell!
10. Hiya SS, Sorry mate looks like the P bass I was after will be traded tomorrow so I'm afraid this won't be available. My Bad didn't get around to pulling this thread. I've come to the conclusion that I'm destined to stay with this bass for a while longer, in fact I've just emailed strings and things for a replacement 5 ply vintage pick guard so that I can get the old one off and get it buffed up. Thanks for all those that expressed an interest, at some point I'll be looking for my 50th birthday bass that will be a vintage of some description or other, this will then be put to good use to help fund it!
11. My tastes on necks have changed over the last few years. I used to be far more comfortable with a Jazz but now find the 1.625 Precision to be spot on. This Ray feels slightly skinnier than that but about the same as my 2001 Fretless Ray. Ironically when I had the 2011 Ric for a couple of weeks in trade against this I didn't find it as comfortable at the nut end (front to back) because of the slight volute but further down the neck I don't think there's much can beat the Ric profile. I've just had an hour with the 30th and I'm starting to have a wobble myself.
12.
Can't believe this hasn't sold yet Mart These are a stonker of a bass
I know mate....this is my last crack at it. Think I'm the same as you were with yours, it's so good looking I daren't use it! You still enjoying the Ric?
13. Well if mine ever sells Neil I'll be heading north to grab this....bump
14. Never had a problem with the gloss finished neck, but then again my main gigging bass is a Status so I'm used to it. Some people find them a bit stickier than the oil finished, but never really found it myself, I can swap between my 2 rays with no prob ( my 2001 has the same finish as yours). One thing I do find with the fully finished neck is that it doesn't seem to need tweaking as much as the other oil finished MMs I've had. If I end up keeping the Ray I guess it's my duty to enter it's serial onto the database.
15. Cheers mate, not sure about the 20th Anni special case, only thing I can say is that I've never seen one but I've see a fair few 20th Annis used without them in standard MM cases so...... Construction wise the 20ths and 30ths are way different, the 20th IMHO is very differen from a 'standard' Ray while the 30th sort of harks back to the original with the through body stringing and gloss finished neck. Can't really comment on the sound differences though, only played one 20th and that was in a shop....
16. Well this was withdrawn but on consideration I really can't justify having such a quality instrument sat under the bed. So it's back up for sale or trade.
17. That's just cruel Neil. Anyone got £1150 for a barely used 30th Anniversary Stingray!!!
18. Oh Neil.....stop bumping this you're tormenting a man with no cash!
19. Pity my Ray 30th didn't sell....I would've loved this, Have a bump!
20. Thanks TB, looks like I will most likely still have it, if it's still available you never know.
21. Will bump this for a little longer... Come to the conclusion that I can live with this really ugly Stingray that smells a bit because we have a 15yr old boarder collie living in the house (might be a few stray dog hairs in the case) if I have to (hard life aint it?). I could do more useful things with the money or with a P bass plus less money, however.....if I have to polish this bloody thing again i'm going to seal in in a vacuum bag, put it back in it's case, under the bed and forget I own it until 2023 at the earliest. SS, you're welcome mate, to paraphrase a crap song 'my Ray is on fiiiurrrrh'
22. Someones missed a real beauty there Martin.........times are hard :-(
23. .......'but the nauseating bashfulness of early Diana, makes me want to set fire to comemorative tea towels' If you don't sell this during the Half Man Half Biscuit quotes then I'll move onto the Mac Lads...
24. No love for a 30th Anni Ray...? Fit in nicely with the Teal, just need a natural to make a traffic light.
