Indeed
Hey Pete, everyone should have owned a Ric, however briefly before they die.....this was number 14 from my '100 to do list'. Do I regret not bonding.....naaaaahhhh, all adds to the spice of life. They'll be a very lucky new owner for her out there somewhere, I'm happy to caretake in the interim. Btw a pre eb is number 19 on the list Also, thanks for the comment Shaggy, the bass is a thing to behold.....the blue looks very nice in the flesh, a bit like the blue pearl on an MM.
The nut was changed to White by the previous owner I'm assuming for cosmetic reasons. The original black nut will be supplied along with the bass.
I've just got proper clarification of this from Mark ( the original owner). The nut slots in the original nut were not deep enough so Mark filed them lower but wasn't happy with the results. A genuine Ric part White nut was sourced and fitted professionally.

Forgot to mention: The neck pickup cover has been removed (for ease of playing) and will be provided with the bass. A neck pickup surround with integrated thumb rest has been installed (useful for us finger style players). The original Ric strings have been replaced with Rotosound 66 rounds which have lots and lots of zing left in them.

Had this a while, a 2002 2EQ Unlined Fretless Ray4H in Black/Black. A truly lovely MM with a lovely figured neck (I guess not typical by the 2000's unless its a classic) - much better than my long departed 1990 Ray in fact. Enjoy...
I thought this might happen Mart! You have to dip your toe I guess and hopefully the replacement Ray will be one you feel can use instead of worrying about knocking it about, I heard bassman is thinking of doing a home relic job on it anyway
Cue Edvard Munch.................Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I'll have to pick me one of them there Pre EB thingies with lots of bangs and scrapes...

Well this is a quick turnround for me, but I know when something aint right for me so why fight it? Picked this up in a trade with Bassman2790 for my anniversary Stingray, problem is the only basses I've ever got on with long term are shaped like Fenders so as the Welsh say 'there we are'. As stated above this is a 2011 model and is only a few months old; it's never been gigged and is in mint condition (even the Ric HSC is barely marked). Comes with Ric manual, polish cloth and even the keys! Looking for £1300 as cash but will entertain trades of good/excellent condition US of A made Fenders or Musicman(men). Pics are below but have an AVS watermark (sorry I'm crap at digital image manipulation stuff), will happily send original images on request. Because of the value of this bass I would prefer collection or (close) meet up, alternatively you could arrange a courier of your own selection.

Don't mate, this bass was so pristine that I kept her in a box. Needs to come out and see the light. I'll be putting your Ric up for sale soon, I'll probably get another Ray or a Sterling........no harm done :-)
Shows how it's all down to personal opinion. I had a 2EQ StingRay and, much as I loved the sound and the feel of the neck, I just couldn't get on with the nut width. To date, it's the only bass I've ever sold. Still like the look of them, however!
You surprise me, I find the modern precision neck and EBMM Ray neck to be virtually indistinguishable from a playing point of view. Maybe you should try a Sterling? Starting to miss 'big Red' already, consoling myself with my 2eq fretless, I've a feeling it won't be long before I'm looking for a fretted sister for her.

Really glad you're enjoying her Mark. After a couple of hours on the Ric my mind is still not made up, but I expected that! It may be a short relationship......but it is beautiful and the sound made me go through a lot of old classic rock stuff that I haven't played for a while.

Just did a swift trade for Mark's Rickenbacker. Great guy to deal with. Enjoy the Stingray Mark.

Good one mate, I had my first 'proper' audition in 20+ years of playing the other week. Got the gig but unfortunately decided the band wasn't for me.....nice to be offered tho. Got another one in a couple of weeks - soul/Motown and rock - now that will be a challenge for me!

Detuning a headless bass E string from E to D
martthebass replied to Delberthot's topic in Accessories and Misc
I tend to find it quicker and easier to detune on my headless than a normal bass. About 3 to 5 seconds is about right. I think it's a bit quicker as I find it unnecessary to tune up to D to 'lock' the tuner. -
Funnily enough, that's one of the two songs I can play & sing simultaneously - the other is 'All or Nothing!'. Bang up to date, Me!!! G.
Man after my own heart! With me it's Teenage kicks and Dakota. I don't think I'll ever post on YT.......it's bad enough looking a prat in front of the less numerous pub/club punters.

Played one of these the other week and compared well with a SLO MM. Made me think about the price difference! Pity big Poopa couldn't come up with a more imaginative naming policy tho.....
I do enjoy playing 4's and I would still have the Jazz anyway but I think as most people have said keep the pre EB even if it's not used much, There really is only a few to my knowledge in the same condition or better out there and all original too. I'm thinking maybe trade the 2002 for something maybe a G&L L2500k and just keep swapping that position bass about as the gassing bass. Keep the 5 as my work horse and the pre EB for a treat or recording etc.
The neck profile on the L2500 ain't a patch on the SR5 Pete......
