1. Good one mate, I had my first 'proper' audition in 20+ years of playing the other week. Got the gig but unfortunately decided the band wasn't for me.....nice to be offered tho. Got another one in a couple of weeks - soul/Motown and rock - now that will be a challenge for me!
2. I tend to find it quicker and easier to detune on my headless than a normal bass. About 3 to 5 seconds is about right. I think it's a bit quicker as I find it unnecessary to tune up to D to 'lock' the tuner.
3.
I need a quick sale before my dream goes.
Good luck Wayne.....think we've all been there.
4.
Funnily enough, that's one of the two songs I can play & sing simultaneously - the other is 'All or Nothing!'. Bang up to date, Me!!! G.
Man after my own heart! With me it's Teenage kicks and Dakota. I don't think I'll ever post on YT.......it's bad enough looking a prat in front of the less numerous pub/club punters.
5. Far too Cheap Wayne......you maaaaaad
6. Cheers guys....sure I've got a few years before the hearing is too bad...I said TOO BAD! Still not fixed up but here's hoping.
7. Very nice that Javier.....you go through some nice basses my friend.
8. Played one of these the other week and compared well with a SLO MM. Made me think about the price difference! Pity big Poopa couldn't come up with a more imaginative naming policy tho.....
9. Wish you were a bit bit closer to the Yorkshire republic Ryan....I'd love to have given this a try out. bump for a great Jazz.
10. I've always fancied one of these but never have the cash when one (infrequently) comes up! bah!
11.
Maybe if I'm forced to hold onto it that long we'll be in business martthebass!
Cheers matey, if I could get a decent offer on the Ray30th maybe we'd be in business. Times are hard and all that...
12. This looks a lot like the one I sold a while back.......if it is it's a cracking bass and would still be with me if I was any good live with a 5
13.
I do enjoy playing 4's and I would still have the Jazz anyway but I think as most people have said keep the pre EB even if it's not used much, There really is only a few to my knowledge in the same condition or better out there and all original too. I'm thinking maybe trade the 2002 for something maybe a G&L L2500k and just keep swapping that position bass about as the gassing bass. Keep the 5 as my work horse and the pre EB for a treat or recording etc.
The neck profile on the L2500 ain't a patch on the SR5 Pete......
14.
Seems my small, lightweight Markbass cabs are out of fashion so they might well still be here in 2 weeks
I don't think the MB cabs have ever been as widely regarded as the heads. Shame really as I think the LM2/3 with the MB151HR is a great combo.
15. After a period of let downs and depping, would love to put my mediocre talents back into a productive rock/pop covers band to get me out of the doldrums. Own transport plus more gear than sense so come on guys don't let me turn into a bedroom bassist...

This would suit me down to the ground...unfortunately no cash and I think the wife would notice if I tried to trade my Passat.....
17. Be careful with modding this S. I suffered from a recurrent shoulder injury and decided to move on my MIM Jazz a few years back. Found a nice lightweight jazz shaped bass around the 7.7lbs mark. Felt great weight wise but I soon found on a longer gig/practice it was more uncomfortable than the MIM (about 9lbs). The standard size headstock/tuners gave it a slight head dive - the lack of balance (and it really was slight) was far worse than the extra lb or so. Make sure you play its replacement stood up for at least half hour before you make a decision (or buy a Status Streamline).
18. I had a Basic KT5 a couple of years back as a (cheaper) replacement for a Stingray 5 that I sold to fund some GAS. Build quality was pretty good (typical Sandberg) and the neck profile and string spacing wasn't far off the SR5 (good for me). Sound wise though I was a bit less impressed; with the 2 pickup setup there was plenty of variation but to me they all seemed to be slightly on the dark side (the pups were Delanos IIRC). I couldn't get a decent cut-through sound when I wanted it - maybe there was one in there but I couldn't get it. On the other hand I couldn't get the thump/punch of a P bass either so ultimately I decided to let it go and I went back to an MM when funds allowed it. This is only IMHO, the sound might work for you......I don't tend to do subtle well, i.e. I like P bass 'thump' or Ray 'grit' - your mileage may vary....
19. Sorry Jay, all my spare cash is tied up in basses! Unless there's something in my sig that takes your fancy I'm afraid this will have to wait for my my next 'significant' birthday in about 2 years time...
20. Loving that.....fortunately I can't be tempted as I'm skint!
21.
Been considering another p bass build and lack of dosh has got me thinking about using a Squier body. So just wondering if the american fender pick guards fit? Advice gratefully received.
Have a word with Howard (The BassDoc), he might have the correct Squier template. He made a replacement Torty guard for my Sue Ryder P copy that fitted perfectly - no drilling or filing (apart from a little around one of the pot spines as it was a tight fit) was required.
22. I've got the same gauge set on my fretless Ray. Spot on, a little brighter than some but very smooth and a nice medium tension. Can't go wrong at £20.
23. Cracking bass that...unfortunately don't have a nice 70s Jazz to offer up for it. Bump anyways..
24. Think the markets slow at the minute Nick. If I could get a trade on a decent CS P bass then I'd probably rejoin the Fender owners club.
25. Cheers Nick, That's worth thinking about, Maybe I should have never let that very nice MIA P bass of yours I once owned go though eh? Hindsight is a wonderful thing!
