If you were wondering why I have been so quiet recently...
Indeed... Sounds like you found your bass nirvana mate! As for me, yes I was playing a lot in the latter half of last year, combined with splitting up with the missus of eleven years standing, so been spending all my time rebuilding life from scratch. Getting there now, though. Have a lovely new house in North East Lincolnshire and the general malaise in the playing work (very worrying first quarter this year!) has thankfully eased a little & the work is coming in again. Good news is that I'm still enthusiastically flying the Status flag as always
Glad to hear thinks are on the up Rich. -
Status Flats, good price and low - medium tension. Brighter than some flats but smooth if 'thumbed' rather than 'fingers'. Used on a Stingray, can rock out and sound like a fretted should you occasionally want that.

Many years back (thankfully), I had a brush with OCD (well more than a brush - about 7 years worth) before it was well known/in the public domain. IMHO you are never cured from it, just learn to recognise the worse excessess and control it before it controls you. Bass playing helps a lot - all those repetitive 8th's. .....and maybe its 'Northern' humour but if someone had amde the OCD quip to me in the pub I'd have had a laugh and then straightened up the beer mats. Lighten up, life's too short. -
As I recall there was a 'family of Italian Engineers' taking on BP about the structural integrity of roasted necks? T'was a joy to behold that particular exercise in customer relations

I've been 'clean' for about 3 months I'm happy modding my Sue Ryder at the mo, spent the amazing total of £23 so far (accounting for 'disposals') and it seems to have saved me from spending hundreds by buying/selling. I keep seriously thinking about getting something Fenderish and vintage but this will end up being a cost neutral and downsizing excercise if I ever get around to it.

What are really unfashionable at the moment?
Cool people don't play Status basses and have never played Status basses, that's their problem. Even when Mark King was nearly cool in the '80s he didn't play Status basses, he switched to them afterwards! Until someone undeniably cool is strongly associated with a Status bass they'll always be expensive mid-life-crisis basses.
Don't play slap.... Don't revere MK..... Don't own a cardigan...... Am over 40 though.....doh Having said that, don't think I talk as much B******s as you do TNIT -
Hoping to get Sonic Sue back tomorrow with it's new Squier P bass neck (courtesy of BC's own Jon Kemo). Nothing wrong with the old neck, just the profile was a bit chunky for me (wanted something more like my Rays and Status). When the torty plate comes in from the BassDoc phase one of the transformation will be complete. Quite like this modding plus it's considerably less expensive than buying and selling MMs

Anything that I own that I'd like to sell lol -

Very nearly put 3 of my basses up for sale yesterday to raise cash for the '63 Jazz or '64 P bass in the for sale section. Fortunately the other half nicked my iPad.

I'm interested what the CMD102P is like, considering letting my LM250 and 115HR go to get one.........sorry for the hijack.
I'd be having a serious look at a Status Streamline. I picked one up a couple of months ago and it's been a revelation! Around 5.5lbs, ergonomically phenomenal (just a bit weird playing seated at first), and all the high-end Status tone you'd expect. I have an old Series II and a few Alembics so I think I know what the OP means about the very modern, powerful active tone. Whilst the Alembics and Statii are quite different, they do share similarities in terms of brightness, clarity and drive. The Streamline has all the power, tonal complexity and authority of its bigger Status sisters, just in a very small package. I can't sing its praises more highly - an absolutely wonderful instrument. I know they're not cheap, but when they come up second hand, £1300-1500 (depending on spec and condition) should secure one. I'd honestly get out and try one - it really could be the answer.
I think it's a bit heavier than that - my 4 stringer is 7lb. I got mine a couple of years back from Rich (outtoplayjazz) and got the opportunity to try it alongside his S2(s). The sound isn't quite as hifi as the S2 but it is still a typical Status sound with plenty of punch and top end clarity. Unfortunately (if it's important) the 3eq pre won't fit in the Streamline control cavity so if you're looking 3 eq S2 board and light then I'd go for the Stealth or have a word with Rob to see if you can specify a low weight S2 build.

Never really worked out how necks were selected in terms of figuring. My old 1990 Ray had a small amount of birdseye but was quite bland in comparison to GafBass's. On the other hand, my (new to me) 2001 Ray is just as figured as this and is up to my 30th Ray where figured necks were supposedly specifically selected.
(Should I tell him it's actually two stars? Or be a bit cunning and get two stars for the price of one?) How much hydrogen left? Is the fusion PP chain or CNO cycle dominated? Spectral Type? Luminosity? This is information we shouldn't have to ask for to be honest.
I fell for one of these scams last year. I found out my 'star' was a Wolf-Rayet and I'd already lost 10 solar masses from outer layer 'blow-off' by the time I took possession. I was not a happy bunny as you can imagine. Then I was told that there was already a significant Fe population in the core and it was only a matter of time before it went off as a type 2 supernova.

Just took ownership of a Sandberg Reliced PM5 in a trade
Thanks for all the comments It's a phenomenal bass but not sure whether I'm beginning to feel the old problems in my arm due to the 5 strings.... TIme will tell
3 words......Status Streamline 5 (well 2 words and a number). TBH I've given up on Fives because theyre generally too heavy for me, or if its a light one (<9lbs) then I've hated the neck dive on the ones Ive had. So, the Streamline 5 is prbably the only 5 I'd ever consider. Hope it works out Nick. -
2001 to 2009 were ceramic than after 2009 back to AlNiCo
Thought only Ray5's had the AlNiCo to Ceramic to AlNiCo pup switches and Ray 4's had always been AlNiCo. My 2001 and 2006 issues are both AlNiCo.
