dont trade!!! just buy a decent workhorse bass that plays brilliantly and sounds as wicked as any of the boutique copies!!! surely you can afford this and keep the MM too!!
Yup I've got to +1 this suggestion. I play in a function band and a 5 would be useful for probably no more than 10% of the set. I'd go a cheapy and keep the big Al
I havent even quized them about it via Ebay, Do you think I should just to see what crap they come back with or to see if they ask someone to check it again? The fact they say its a green pcb and quote a part number suggests someone with the authority to mess there has looked and given that response though. Its a tricky price too because whats worth anything on it? Pre amp has been changed, Neck has frets added, Body has an extra route, Pickup is a Basslines one. The string tree is missing, So really its only the Pick guard, tuners and bridge (which even has the thumb turns missing) of any value from what I can see.
I keep toting with the idea of selling off a couple of basses (not the 30th this time tho Pete!) and picking up a decent pre eb but this sort of thing (and the minefield I went thru last year when looking for a nice old mid 70s Jazz) puts me off. Think I'll just stick with my 2006 pre-eb 'copy'.

For sale or trade - STINGRAY 5 FRETLESS
martthebass replied to martthebass's topic in Basses For Sale
This is just a ridicules price for a top fretless 'ray. Having bought a fretless stingray form Mart in the past, I know that it will be in excellent condition too
Cheers Paul, yup, despite being a few years older this is in pretty much the same condition as the one I sold you. If I could get comfortable with the inevitable wider board that comes with the B string I'd keep it, for some reason it seems to make more difference to my playing on a fretless than a fretted. Having said that every 5 string fretted I've ever owned has ended up going.. -
Thanks Bubinga5, I think the market is pretty dead at the moment but like you say, this is a great price and I am not going to drop it or give it away. I will just wait until things pick up.
Pity you're not in the Market for a Ray5 fretless Linus or I'm sure we could have come to a deal. -

For sale or trade - STINGRAY 5 FRETLESS

Definitely getting harder in the South Yorkshire area but to some extent it depends what you do, your management/agency, how far you're prepared to travel, what payback you want etc..... Down at about 1-2 gigs/month now and that's playing in 2 bands and taking a little dep work when its available. To keep the gig volume up now going out for less than 4 years ago but thats better than endlessly playing at open mic nights and practises. Some bands I now are going out for beer money or a 'share' of the till (risky).......all I can say is, I'm glad I don't do this for a living.

Sorry for the hijack, but I'm looking for some flats with lower tension than my current Roto flats - would TI infeld flats fit that category? If not, any other suggestions?

For sale or trade - STINGRAY 5 FRETLESS

Well, mine is going to get its first gig tonite - it'll be going in the place of the Epi EBO that I've just sold (used for the more 'lively' gigs). I've really enjoyed messing about with it this week to get the action and intonation something like and the pickup squared up to give a more even string response. So the nuts 'funky', the finish a bit industrial and the neck less stable than I'm used to BUT then I remeber I could get 20+ of these things for the cost of my MM or Status. So....no complaints here.
A lot of you mentioned that you had to email for the bags etc. Did you do this pre-ordering or just send one to their support after?
I just ordered mine without comment and it turned up with lead, strap, gigbag but unfortunately missing the saddle allen key (no biggie - but could someone let me know the size???). Think it's just hit or miss B.

In: 2008 EBMM Stingray 4H Fretless 1998 EBMM Stingray 5H Fretless Stingray 30th Anniversary Epiphone EB0 Out: 2005 EBMM Stingray 4H Overwater Perception Deluxe Fretless 4 2008 EBMM Stingray 4H Fretless Aim to be less active in 2011 (but EB0 already gone in favour of a Sue Ryder P), I can see the SR5 going if a nice Ray 4 fretless comes up but I'm in no rush.

Well just about slackened the rod off completely on mine and the neck is flat but the action still a but high for me (3-4mm at the 12th). Not taken the saddles down yet (still don't have a damn key that fits) but that should give me another couple of mm, failing that I'll stick a shim in which should sort it. All good fun though, forgotten what it was like to play like this as my other basses are so easy to set up (or never need it)

As MM20 said tho I don't think the sound is as aggressive as a Sterling personally for the ceramic. FWIW I prefer ceramic in my fretless SR5 to alnico
I had a saddle allen key in the lead bag.
Alas not mine.................probably in the south China sea or Indian ocean?
