These are fairly lightweight but still feel substantial (7lbs on a small body) but balance well. Does anybody know if these are wooden cored? Like the old Steinys these feel 'hard to break'.

I would love a Streamline 5er - If I could pick one up for about £1200 I'd have one but I think I'll have to wait a bit before they start coming onto the 2nd hand market

It wasn't heavy as such but being neck heavy it wasn't comfortable to play stood up for any length of time. I've been looking at the T2 v2 Fretless on the bay, it looks pretty much like my old T3 (except for the colour of the pup and TR covers being cream instead of black) but based on what's been said above £300 seems a bit on the steep side. Having said that, IIRC I paid £270 new for mine back in the day.

I've played and owned both in my time. If I'm honest I do prefer the Jazz fretless, but I'm only an occasional doodler on F'less and for fretted the Status and Ray are more than adequate for my needs. Just toying with the idea of spending less on a T3 but don't want to 'overspend' just in case I decide to move it on at some point in the future.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I'm looking at bidding on a fretted bass that I'd like as a fretless (having had no look finding a factory fretless to my taste/budget over the last few weeks). So.....what is the cost of a professional defret these days? I would be looking at maple lines in a r/w board (or white plastic if the cost is excessive). Also any recommnedations for the work to b done in the Sheffield/Donny area (I've already thought of Jon Shuker but I don't know if this sort of stuff is beneath him now ) Cheers, Mart

Is this the tiger stripe ebony? I've seen some with striations in the TS type but not one that looks as 'unique' as this. If you don't like it send it back, on buying a new bass in my view cosmetics are a valid reason for rejection.

Hello my new dream bass.....

Don't know how much 'sonic' or playability differences there are between the Fender TF and the std American Jazz. ET had my old Jazz frettless (1999) and swapped it out in favour of the TF so I'd expect it's a reasonable upgrade. I've played both lined and unlined and personally don't think it makes much difference (as long as the side dots are on the fret) - it only makes a difference if you want to make a statement to the audience that you're playing a fretless. I was more than happy with the sound of the Jazz, nice and woody and with much more mwah and subtlety than the Status necked Jazz (and previously Westone T3) that it replaced. Only problem I seem to have a the minute is picking up another used one at my budget of £600. Tsk

Just a quickie. I've always had a little hankering for one of these. Anyone know what a reasonable price for a vgc used one would be?

Also on the balance re-dressing side.... Had a DJ5 and a Bobby G (albeit the BG was modded) Skylines. Both I would describe as well made and functional. The sound out of the DJ5 in particular was particularly good. On the negative I would say that they didn't 'inspire' and both were 'heavy' (particularly the BG - close to 10lb). Out of the Skyline bunch I'd have to go for the JO4 - played a couple of nice 'light' examples in Electro. On the Fender side, can't say I've played a bad S1 or new US standard bass - all were about the 8.5 lb mark and made the sounds they were supposed to make. Price wise on here it also looks that on average you can pick up a used US S1 a bit cheaper than a used DJ4/JO4/BG.
