1. Silddx, I thought the Wawick Fretlesses were ebony - have they changed over to wenge? Do you find you need the active for Fretless, on my old active (fretted) vette I tended to keep it passive, Mart
2.
If you click on the Streamline pic on the front page of the Status site you'll find lots of images of both models so you can see the differences.
My eyesight must be sh1t BB, the only difference I can make out is the extra knob on the new one verses the 3 on mine (Streamline #6)
3.
If someone would buy my Sterling I'd probably still be interested in buying this!
Yup I'd probably go the same way but last time I tried selling my Ray quickly (to buy this very same bass off Marcus last year) it was a bloody nightmare
4.
Hey Mart Nah, I don't like the new "hard edged" model. Sticking with what I've got for the time being...
Yer What............you mean they've made the Streamline less, huh, streamlined? Pity, I quite like the 'half-sucked' boiled sweetness of the mark 1.
5. Like this one mself but I think I'm a bit far back in the queue.....
6.
Yo Brother Smithe! Yes, indeed - It's the one I'd be most interested in putting an order for. BB - Don't be put off ordering your Streamline. They're a fantastic bass & I definitely wouldn't be without mine! I use mine all the time these days
Does that mean you could be selling some of the 'woodwork' Rich to make way for a nice Streamline 5?
7.
Hmm, think I upset some Status-lovers. I meant to be nice about the seller's instrument, I quite like it in a nostalgic sort-of way, although I'm not a potential customer. But I still think people who buy things like the Streamline are off their heads. That's maybe the ugliest bass I've ever seen.
The looks - they do polarise people. I must be off my head but after an hour playing one I had to buy one. Your comment is only an opinion and obviously an ill informed and poorly researched one, Boomshanka, Mart. By the way - love the S2 - wish I had the cash for this 'proper' Status.
8.
My Stingray has the best B string ive ever played..way better than my old Sadowsky..IMO Its a very focused instrument...depending on strings of course..
Stop teasing me like that Andrew......I still regret selling this one Still, my neckdoesn't hurt as much on long gigs with the Status.
9. The only comment I can make is to be sure to try out a lakky 5 first. I found the neck width and 35" scale a bit much. In comparison the tighter string spacing and slimmer neck on the Ray 5 were much more comfortable for me.
10. Played a couple of these - both were on the fret. YMMV....
11. Almost worth splurging that as a project........less than 20 miles from me too, hmmmm.
12. Yup, an early 90's with a nice bit of figuring in the neck, with the 'mute' bridge and in good nick I'd go at £700ish maybe a touch more if black/maple. A later one like mine (2005) tend to be more 600ish.
13. Damn, I was tempted to make a punt for this but my previous experience with 35" didn't work out. I know it would end in tears. Lovely bass tho......
14. Now gone to a new home. Pleased to see that it stayed in the county of Yorkshire.
15. I'll keep a look out on the Rotherham side of Sheffuld. It's a stand out bass so if the scum bag decides to 'exhibit' it should be visible.
16. Well a month has passed and this bass is still not getting as much use as I'd like basically because I prefer my 4 stringer Status for the day job. So I'll stick this back in to this doldrum like market' at a hopefully very reasonable price of £570 or trade for a nice 4/5 string fretless. Don't let the fact that this Sandberg doen't look like a Fender put you off...........lol
17. Must be some variation then L, The maple/maple neck on my 1990 (matt lacquer) was a bit chunky (I was playing it back to back with a Jazz at the time), wheras the 2005 Maple/Maple Ray I've currently got is quite slim, fast and easy to play.
18. Love the look of this, unfortunately I think it would tkae a couple of months for my Sandberg to sell.
19.
I'll try to get some more pics up later when I'm home from work - must find the camera. I'm not aware of any mods - I'm at least the third BC owner so maybe others can report on that.
No mods while I had it - and none that I could detect from the previous owner(s).
20.
Or save up another £300 and buy a Status Streamline. Someone around here's got one with an MM pick-up in it. I'm sure Rob would oblige. Okay, they don't do a "woody" tone, but they do everything else! Maybe see if you can hunt down a s/h one- or a bolt on S2?
My Ray couldn't do woody if it was nailed to a tree. Amazingly my Streamline seems to be able to do mellow, albeit with a bit of knob twiddling.
21.
Still no offers,it can't be overpriced,surely ???
No, it's well priced. If I was closer, had the cash or you would take a 5er in trade I'd be knocking on your door.............sorry that's not much help.
22. Lovely but expensive. Did it myself once but the other way around, put a Status fretless neck on a MIM Jazz. I was lucky and got it cheap (£165 inc. Hipshot h'ware). If I had been looking at full price I might have stalled. I still love graphite necks (obviousy got one on the Streamline), the feel is excellent and on the through neck there's no dead spots to talk about. However if I was just trying to make a 'standard' fretless bass fretted I think I'd probably go down the Warmouth route, you'd save a few hundred quid and not much loss in terms of sound.
23. Hi JB, I missed out on this last time it came up. Unfortunately my cash is tied up in another piece of graphite otherwise......
24. This is one very nice sounding Fretless - if I had the cash I would happily have it back, you've certainly definitely priced it to sell! One day, when I've got bored with 5 strings I'll no doubt have another. As Dave says, the bass looks in excellent nick, I'm sure the minor scratches would come out easily with a bit of T-Cut - I just never got around to it.
25.
Ah, yes - I have a 2H G&L - My No.1 bass. Simple flick of the pup switch enables you to move effortlessly around P-tone, J-tone and MM-tone. I don't generally bother too much with the other switches - too many options for me too! Thanks for your offer of the 1H 'Ray. Realistically, It's not quite what I'm after - the G&L on the rear pup does that sound for me already. Still looking for that good CIJ/MIJ or Highway 1 P bass as a possible trade, however...
No problem, good luck with your quest. If I had time to sell the Ray and make you an offer I would but holidays are beckoning.... You suprise me regarding the G&L comment tho, I could never get mine to sound like a Ray when I switched to the bridge pup - it was always much darker and less defined. Maybe it was just my G&L?
