1. Trouble is 'my perfect sound' changes depending what situation I'm in. For the function band, the P bass thru a TE with the pre-shape is spot on. For the rock nights its gotta be the Stingray thru the TE flat. For 'acoustic' nights I use the Jazz f'less straight into the desk.
2.
Just give in Martin, you know you want it !! By the way i'm passing Sunny Donny on Wednesday on my way to Nottingham !!!
Now that's just unkind Still, a pint at the Holiday Inn might be just what I need.
3. God that is so tempting Mark, Somebody please buy this before I decide I don't want a MB amp to go with the Mark Bass Cab that's gathering dust in my porch...... Glad I'm not doing any work up North for a few weeks - that would have been too much tempation.
4.
Well let me know when and we could work out somewhere to meet while your en route?
Will do, however in the interim if there's anyone who is interested and could collect let me know as I've gotta move this....
5.
When are you back down around Wales, i've got the money waiting? I could do with a combo for practice, now i'm getting rid of my lil rig and going back up to a 6x10.
Not sure at the mo - nothing planned.. If something comes up I'll let you know - It'll be South Wales tho as opposed to mid.
6. Chris, lovely bass mate. Makes me want to go out and sell all my basses to fund one.................but I won't (this time)
7.
If ever you needed incontrovertible proof that UK Ltd is on it's arse financially, this thread and the one offering the 4x10 Trace combo more than adequately provide it IMHO. Absolutely unbelievable.
Yup, getting a bit tired of this recession we 'aren't' having. Thing is don't really need the cash - just the space, so if it doesn't go I'll donate it to the local jam night I 'attend' Let's put it this way, with trade in prices as they are it's been a good cure for any GAS I might have had.
8. Well, one last crack at this before the 'bay'. £150 collected
9. Hi SRF, sorry mate closest I (routinely) get to 'down south' is M4 corridor - Wales end. Cheers
10. Well Mrs MTB is asking for her porch back so I'm putting this down to £175.
11. 'Flogging a dead horse' type bump.
12. Bump and reduced to £195 collected.
13. Bump to the top................I'm always open to negotiation.
14. Shame about the condition thing really. I think I've got worse about condition since I joined BC. Mainly cos I now think of the value of the item as much as the use (for potential gas induced trade fodder reasons). I think we all know that if you're pxing at the local shoppe the lovely age induced patina and beer smell we all love becomes minus $$ come trade in (unless it's a particularly sought after antique Fender/Ric/ANO). At the mo I'm careful (but not to obsession) on two of my basses but the gigging bass (2004 Precision) is just that and I expect it to pick up knocks it's almost impossible for it not to.
15. Bump for stock piccie addition........................yes I know it's small. The actual amp is much bigger - at least 4MB
16. Pretty good nick (no scuffs, scrapes or rips) TE combo as described above for sale. Just needs the dust and dog hairs removing from the green carpety stuff - I'll happily provide this service to the prospective buyer. No damage, never been pushed hard (small pub stuff and/or DI) and owned from new by myself for about 5 years. This (for it's size) is a heavyish beast (32Kg) and that's the main reason it has to go (in favour of a MarkBass set up that is more friendly to my aching back). I'll get some pics up when I have a chance but I'm sure most of you know what these things look like. I'm looking for around the £210 mark (this seems to be what they go for on the bay) but based on size it'll be a pickup jobbie. Will deliver/meet for petrol money - in this case preference goes to local (Yorkshire/Notts/Derbs) area. Cheers, MTB
17. Don't have long to wait then
18. As it says in the title really - anybody had a chance to try both of these? I'm looking to use one of these with a Mark Bass 151HR cab - I've tried the LM250 and it seems ok but I haven't had a chance to try it cranked up so I don't know if it has enough W's. Also the EQ needs a bit of teasing to get away from the middy balance. So....I'd appreciate any comments on the GB, Ta, MTB
19.
... DAMN!!!
Gotta be quick on here when Nick's got some gear money
20. +1 on Twat. I had a look at this amp while it was on the bay, somehow got a bad feeling - don't know why (sorry). Agree on the police suggestion - but don't know how this helps you if you end up losing the amp and end up out of pocket. Not sure if the original owner (allegedly) would be traceable without S/N or filed stolen report. If you can live with the cosmetics I'd be inclined to put this one down to experience.
21. I've owned 3 MM's for my sins. First up a 1990 Ray4H 2EQ, good classic 'cut-thru' Ray tone and P bass type neck. AlNiCo pups. Sold this to buy a Sterling (2004). Smaller - but mine wasn't lighter, also had a more aggresive tone (Ceramic Pups). Neck was to die for - out Jazzed the Jazz. Sold this because I didn't like the tone or balance. Now on a 3EQ 2005 Ray4H. A bit lighter that the first 2 and to my ears doesn't sound that much different to the 3EQ tho there is some difference of opinion that the 2EQ is much better - I personally didn't find that. Cuts thru like a mutha and hopefully I won't allow GAS pangs to make me sell this one.
22. Very nice NGH, sorry all I have is whats in my sig and the lint in my (increasingly deeper/short armed) pockets.
23.
It's actually ballanced on some mats.
Jim you're more anal than I ever imagined You weren't kidding tho, this is a lovely bass - wish I had the cash or trade.
24. As always 'try b4 you buy'. I love the string spacing on the Ray5 and the 34" scale. I hated the 35" scale and string spacing on the DJ5
