1.
http://www.cloverbasses.com/polish.html This stuff is the business. Take you time and go through each of the 4 polishes, your paintwork will come up a treat. Looks superb if you do it by hand... looks amazing if you do it with a polishing wheel. I think Thomanns now stock it.
Cheers EBSF, If the scuffs/scratches are minor do you need to go thro all 4 stages?
 2. All PMs now replied to - Bass still available. Would also consider a G&L if anyone has one they are looking to move on. Also would consider px'ing towards a G&L L2500. C'mon, It's black-black-maple - gotta love it
 3.
Just be careful with it.... Swirls? what you doing with it? Finish like this:-
That looks nicer than my wife's Landrover
 4. Thought I'd add a better piccy - sorry about the quality I'm a crap photographer.
 5.
What put you off? Too vintage sounding? Not vintage sounding enough? I was really interested in this but when I saw it had gone, GAS got the better of me and I bought a Stingray instead. Consequently, I can't afford it now. Doh! Anyway, good luck with the sale and consider this a bump.
Thanks for the bump, I'm not particularly put off - not 'trad' enough for the band methinks. If I could find a way to justify keeping it I definately would (damn 3 bass rule). BTW, you would have liked it - like a 2EQ Ray without the sizzle. Cheers, Mart
 6. Don't do it Mark, It'd be a crime to humanity.....
 7.
For serious dings and wear I use Auto-glym (car stuff avaialbe from Halfords) paint renovator and then super resin polish. (For a regular polish I use PRSs own polish. ) What you have left you can use on your car!
It's not really that serious, just surface stuff. I shied away from AG, mainly because when I go at my car with it it can give nasty swirls, also I thought Silicone was bad... What sort of finish do you end up with?
 8. This is a record for me. Thought this was just what I was looking for, unfortunately the rest of the band don't agree and after a fraught few hours in the rehearsal room trying to get a sound they'd like I had to go back to my MIA P. I can't afford to have 2 bedroom basses (the DJ5 performs that function already!) so this will (unfortunately) have to go. The full description of the bass is given by Mark (much better than I could) in the thread below. If anyone need better pitures just let me know. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16060 New price £470 Alternatively I'm up for trade/px with equivalent condition Jazz 4 string types; Lakky JO/DJ, Sandberg or MIA Jazz (preferably an S1). Hey ho........
 9.
This stuff from Fender/Meguiar is good: http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0990512000
Cheers, looks like the stuff - know of any stockists?
 10.
It depends abit on the finish and which type of paint/lacquer it is!! What guitar is it?
MIM Strat in a sort of dark solid blue colour, you know the sort of finish that shows every mark. Poly not nitro I'd expect. Cheers, Mart
 11. Sorry if this has been covered before. Helping a friend with a Guitar (sorry again), it's in good condition but it has a few suface scratches/scuffs and plenty of swirl marks. He's looking to px/sell and wants to 'cut' the finish and bring back the shine - any body got any foolproof tips/recommendations. I'm loathed to get involved - on the few occassions I've tried it (on old firewood) I end up with dull patches that look worse than the original problem, Cheers, Mart
 12. ++ on the above, ater a week Roto Flats have more zing. Bit of a boring old fart, so tend to stick with EB Slinkys these days - seem to last a lot longer to me.
 13. Done quite a few trades through BC now so role up those who didn't feel too agrieved with their end of the deal. Cheers, Mart
 14. Great guy to deal with, GreeneKing's BG has now worked it's way thro Marcus to me with a minimum of fuss.
 15.
Black is errrrr..... the new Black ?
Yeh, think the DJ5 will have to be resprayed Never seen a Pink one.
 16. Can't wait to get my hands on this - thanks Mark. It'll go nicely with the black on black DJ5 and Black on Black MIA P - bit of a theme developing here I think.
 17.
Get it bought comrade
Going for an Indian now. For god's sake somebody buy this before I get back......................
 18.
Cheers DR ! I'll make it even more unbelievable, I'll throw in a Minty Guard and a decent Gig Bag !! Roll up !!!
Mark, you're killing me!!!!
 19. I'd agree with Beedster. I've had 2 fretless's (Fretlii?) in the past and on both occasions they ended up as bedroom toys and got sold on (the present toy is a 5 string - we'll see how she goes). On the rare occasions that I did gig with one I enjoyed it but found it hard to concentrate on my backing vocals so alas...... On jam nights I've had plenty fun (Cream covers etc) but you always get one smart arse who hits you with - 'what's the point of that -you're just posing' - sad but true. I'm, working up to number 3 but I'll have to decide what goes to allo one in (3 bass rule from 'she that must be obeyed').
 20. Looks like this is staying in the basschat community and will be going to someone local to me. Thanks for all those that have shown an interest, the search for a Jazz 4 type will now begin
 21. Nice to have one of each at some point (looking to do this me'self in the next week or so). If I could only have one I'd probably go Jazz, and despite some negatives - with S1. Regarding neck tho, I don't find my 2004 MIA P neck to be uncomfortable, It's easier than a Stingray and an 80's P I used to own so maybe there's been some changes to the profile in later years (seems shallower)? I'd play a few later MIA P's before you snub it.
 22.
I suspect it's because Fender MIM Jazzes have the neck pickup the same size as the bridge pickup - a common hazard when replacing the pickups, and one you need to be careful of, if you're considering it. Pete
If it's any help, I can confirm that the neck pup offset on the E was the same before the neck was changed - I also assumed it was because of the pup sizes. as far as I could tell there hadn't been any mods to the bass before I got it. It certainly didn't affect the output of the E in comparison to the other strings.
 23. All pm's replied to. Some interesting offers being considered, perhaps there is some Warwick love after all on the snowy and cold Easter weekend.
 24.
its just a shame i can't get the correct notes out of it
Know what you mean, I used to try and invent my own key - H flat minor anyone?
 25.
I know you might not be keen, but I have a USA Jazz 5 that I'm keen to swap for something - Black on black, rosewood neck. I'm sure we could come to a good deal!
Thanks for the offer Mike, pm me with what you were thinking.
