Another hissy fit - Sleaford Mods this time
martthebass replied to mr4stringz's topic in General Discussion
We’ve all had gigs where the audience or prominent members of the audience weren’t particularly engaged. How you deal with those gigs is just as important as how you act at a great gig. -
How many basses do you take on stage?
martthebass replied to Mickeyboro's topic in General Discussion
For years (read decades) I used to take just one but when I joined my current band about 7 years ago it was as a dep. To be professional I took 2 basses, the main and a spare just in case. The habit stuck and it’s still 2. I circulate the basses though so it’s not always the same main; if the main is a shorty then so is the spare and if I take a main 34” then so is the spare. -
Time for a JMJ now Dave….

Despite the BBOT I'm finding myself really liking this. Sadly my funds are somewhat depleted at the moment as I have a significant other who keeps spending my gig money.... I've loved having my MW Mustang, I must have done close to 200 gigs with it in the glam band and I'm sure this would be a worthy successor. Keep dreaming Mart...

Think I'll have to stick with my Mikey Way Mustang.

I find 500W plenty with 2 x NY121 even in fairly large clubs. I usually don't need to push beyond half way on the master, any more would be uncomfortable on stage. The DI stage is great on the MB amps and for large gigs (Festivals/Rallies) I just use the rig for monitoring and DI into the house set up.

I've had a 2 x NY121 set up for about 7 years now. Originally used with an LM3 but more recently with a LM Little Marcus 500. For practices I find one cab more than adequate. For gigs I prefer the sound using 2 cabs, not necessarily for the volume but it does seem to add extra depth to the sound. Great little set up and despite looking for an alternative set up last year I wasn't able to find anything that beat it on sound, weight and size (it has to fit in the boot of a Mini 5dr).

Saw them back in 1980 on a very snowy Sunday night at Sheffield City Hall. Wasn’t expecting much but it was quite possibly the best gig I’ve ever been to.

To my hands it’s sort of a worn in shiny, not sticky in any way but not satin. -
Can anyone advise where I could get one of these made up, I don’t have a printer setup anymore?

I’m pretty impressed with my gen 1 version but I suppose the East pre and the fact that it’s a fretless addressed some of the issues with some of the early gen 1 basses. Might have to have the new logo on the headstock though….yes I’m shallow.

An EBMM Sterling with roasted neck, ebony board and Starry Night finish. Never gonna happen.

A few pics from a few weeks back at the NABD rally in Cheshire. Was nice to be rocking the Fallout Bass.

Yee Haw! Do you play both kinds of music, country and western?

Played a very nice large social club on the outskirts of Harrogate last night. As we walked in the consec explained that the clientele were a bit jaded with live music as the previous consec had cycled only 5/6 bands so he was taking a punt with us having just spotted us online. He also said it might be a bit thin on the ground but if we’re lucky we might get a few dancers. …….anyway the word must have got out as the place was rammed with punters many in 70s glam dress and the dance floor was full from half way into the first spot. Just goes to show that some thought can really make a difference in some of these trad social clubs. Glam Fever, proudly bringing glam rock to the masses since 2015.

Love the ‘brûlée’ finish, but £2.5k!! Think I’ll stick with the Fallout bass.

Ive used shorties pretty much exclusively on gigs for the last 5 years. I got the first one, a Mikey Way sig Mustang because of the large flake finish which suited the band ‘look’ but quickly realised the benefits of using it on a small stage with a singer who flaps his arms a lot. Since then I’ve added a JMJ and a US Fallout and have also found them a bonus with my aging digits.
-
I’ve had a few G&Ls, L2000, L2500 and a JB2 (trib) but the Fallout has been the first one I’ve bonded with.

Keep going till you drop Daryl. Like you I’ve had ‘challenges’ of late but the mental health benefits outweigh the hearing damage and additional aches and pains - party on dude😂

Don’t get me wrong, I like the base sound it’s just that the Fallout has so much ‘more’ that I’d love to have some of the same in the MW. The price of the MW Mustangs does seem to have rocketed! -
