Great guy to deal with, GreeneKing's BG has now worked it's way thro Marcus to me with a minimum of fuss.

I'd agree with Beedster. I've had 2 fretless's (Fretlii?) in the past and on both occasions they ended up as bedroom toys and got sold on (the present toy is a 5 string - we'll see how she goes). On the rare occasions that I did gig with one I enjoyed it but found it hard to concentrate on my backing vocals so alas...... On jam nights I've had plenty fun (Cream covers etc) but you always get one smart arse who hits you with - 'what's the point of that -you're just posing' - sad but true. I'm, working up to number 3 but I'll have to decide what goes to allo one in (3 bass rule from 'she that must be obeyed').

Nice to have one of each at some point (looking to do this me'self in the next week or so). If I could only have one I'd probably go Jazz, and despite some negatives - with S1. Regarding neck tho, I don't find my 2004 MIA P neck to be uncomfortable, It's easier than a Stingray and an 80's P I used to own so maybe there's been some changes to the profile in later years (seems shallower)? I'd play a few later MIA P's before you snub it.

Fretless Fender Graphite Neck Piezo FrankenJazz
martthebass replied to funkle's topic in Basses For Sale
I suspect it's because Fender MIM Jazzes have the neck pickup the same size as the bridge pickup - a common hazard when replacing the pickups, and one you need to be careful of, if you're considering it. Pete
If it's any help, I can confirm that the neck pup offset on the E was the same before the neck was changed - I also assumed it was because of the pup sizes. as far as I could tell there hadn't been any mods to the bass before I got it. It certainly didn't affect the output of the E in comparison to the other strings. -
I can't think why anyone would part with a thumb bass after knowing such joy, I'd never part with mine. Good luck
Cheers, and sure I'll regret it, but I'd like a nice black on black Jazz to go with the P and DJ5. Also if I go with a white pick guard it'll match the dog (also a Border Collie - can't beat 'em)

My first (good) bass was a P bass back in 1982. Moved onto Jazz/Ray type stuff in about 1985. Bought a MIA P bass last year - had a bit of an epiphany moment and I don't think I'd be without one now. The one and only 'plug n play' bass. Regarding values, I'd agree. Last year I think (for CIJ, MIA) prices were pretty low, reckon they've moved about +10-15% since then. More modern stuff seems to be a bargain at the mo (assuming it ain't a classy 'copy' e.g. Lakland).

Fretless Fender Graphite Neck Piezo FrankenJazz
martthebass replied to funkle's topic in Basses For Sale
I can confirm this is a very nice bass (helped to build it me'self) and Pete is a more than straight up guy to deal with. Anyone who hasn't had a go with a fretless graphite neck needs to at least once in their bass playing career - sub millimetre action (joke) and almost never needs adjusting. It's definitely originally a MIM2001 - I took the original (fretless) neck off - subsequently sold to Road Dog. Good luck with the sale, Mart -
FOR SALE: 1976 Fender P bass in beautiful Mocha

Well, what can I say, I love this bass. Cracking sound and love the feel of the natural wood. I GASSED for one of these for ages and I've really tried to get used to it in a gigging situation but swapping between jazz and P type and this causes me grief. Its a 2006 build in mint condition and owned by me since early last year. It's been regularly waxed and pampered and not overly gigged. Comes with Warwick gig bag (so collection only - sorry no posting) and the normal (excellent) Warwick owners pack (minus about 1/4 tin of wax). Ideally I'd like to trade this for a Jazz type, Fender MIA or Lakky Skyline JO/DJ (or even BG) - would consider throwing in some cash against the right bass. 4 strings only (I have enough bother with my DJ5). For straight sale I'd like to get as close to £580 as poss, but enjoy the fun of negotiation Pics below:
I'm going to give both new Statiis a good hard gigging this week & see how I feel then. I'm in love with the new KingBass, so no danger there! Rich.
Good Idea, that should cure it

It's already perfect - why change it?
-
Don't do it Rich, you're just bored (like me) and fancy a change for changes sake. Alternatively, you could buy it and sell the $$ to help fund it (the pain )
