1. Gorgeous bass, I'm looking to change my DJ5 into one of these. Oh well, out with the hacksaw then....
2.
why not go for a fender similar to the squier? you're less likely to regret it if its a better bass. definatly dont keep it if you cant get along with it.
+1 As a move on from the G&L maybe a nice CIJ or second hand MIA?
3. Just picked up a well nice black pg for my DJ5 from Ian. Good comms throughout - great bloke to deal with
4. Jeeezus. I had one of these back in the day, it was seriously naff. I sold it and a Drumatix for next to bugger all. Do you hear that sound..........it's the sound of me kicking my own arse
5. 200 Songs!!!??. Seems a tad excessive. Our set lists (and sadly they haven't changed that much in 3 years) constitute no more than 100 songs - with the jam night stuff I do I could add maybe another 50 which I most definately blag. Ok, I'd stick to generic rock and roll and blues to make up the numbers in your case, you can basically play what you like to a lot of this (assuming you stay in the basic chord pattern) and no one will know any different. Most people don't notice the bass anyhow unless it's a well known line (e.g. Money, The Chain etc). Good luck with it, but as with the responses above - if it aint fun then bin it, it really isn't worth the hassle and may put you off music for life.
6. Sorry to hijack your thread Ian. Does anyone know the standard set that comes with the DJ5 - love the action as it is and don't want to screw around with rod adjustments when I change strings. Cheers, Mart
7. It's a shame when soemthing like this happens. Like you guys above I've had nothing but good transactions from fellow BC'ers. Simple checks help obviously, feedback column, post checking, member profile, pictures (a definite must) etc but I guess they can't be foolproof. I haven't 'registerede' on the feedback column personally but I think some sort of feedback rating a la EBay might be worth considering for buyers/sellers
8. God that's tempting...................must resist!
9.
sorry I didnt like about the Streamer Std when I owned one - carolena body wood looked cheap and felt it too I'd honestly save the extra for a LX or a ProM or a Corvette Std I also think a SUB would be worth more than an extra 30 notes over a Streamer Std
+1 Somehow they don't seem like proper 'wick's to me. Just my humble opinion. Bubinga 'vette or Ovangkol Thumb..................that's different. For what your Sub's worth you should be able to pick up a nice used 'vette bubinga standard passive (or maybe even an active)
10.
Not at all, they are so damm popular, and that's because they are great basses!!!
Notice most of em are sold now so they must be good Wish this had come up before I bought my black DJ5 - I'd have saved some decent sponds....
11. I get this problem occassionally with my 'wick Thumb. Thing is it only happens with one particular lead. Sound doesn't cut out completely - just loses a lot of volume.
12. I don't have sufficient vocabulary to describe how beautiful that is. What's the weight like?
13. The black precision I bought from Nick (above) is very very nearly the one. Bought it as a back up but it now gets most of the action. It's the cheapest bass I own, but it's the one most likely to put a smile on my face.
14. Forgetting to turn on the wireless pack..............do that quite often
15.
Doncaster a bit of a drive from the NW but Dave's the manager of the store and in charge of the Bass Department so he can give good deals.
Note: Dave doesn't work on Sunday's so if you're doing the drive avoid this day - they struggle to do 'discounts' or px deals when Dave's not there.
16. Looks good to me.......................Bruce Foxton should have had one like this
17. Just like a Lakland Works on mine
18. This is so beautiful, and so out of my 'pocket' at the mo. I no longer have any 70's Fenders so I'll sit in the corner and cry............sniff
19. Cheers Nick, will do, I'd go Tort or Black - just hate the white!
20. Hmmm, bit of a disappointment, I was looking to add a nice black pg from Jeannies for my DJ5
21.
I've loved the DJ's I've tried. Even though I love the Bongo would swap in a flash for a DJ
DJ4 or 5?
22. On this occassion Nick I'm really pleased that I don't own anything that I can tempt you with.
23. To continue the pedantic theme - Silicone contains silicon so in principle if the polish contains silicone it also contains silicon (just not elemental silicon).
24. I sold a MM Sterling to buy a DJ5. Would say the build quality is every bit as good as the MM. Also not a single dead spot - amazing.
25. Thought the DJ4 was a 34"? The DJ5 is deffo a 35" - my poor pinky reminds me of this every time I play it. (Also hate the white pickguard on my black sparkle DJ - it's just gotta be black!)
