  1. I’ve been impressed with the Fender 9050L flats that come standard on the JMJ Mustang. Nice and punchy with just enough tension so you can dig in whether you play pick or fingers.
  2. Apologies for the poor pics but I’m rubbish with an iPhone unless it’s outside and the lighting is good. The CW sig turned up within a week of me placing the order and Rob was kind enough to fit the Schaller straplocks gratis. This really is a well made piece of kit and certainly exceeds my expectations. Not sure how it fits with my eclectic bunch of 34” scale basses which now comprise this, a Ric 4003 and an EBMM Sterling but I look forward to the experience.
  3. My only experience of ownership of an SR5 is single H, in fact the one I sold to you.... I’ve played a few however and can honestly say I don’t think I’ve found one as skinny as 9lb, the one I sold you was closer to 10lb. Have you considered the double H SR5 special, these get less than 9lb and give you ‘jazz’ type pickup option via the 5 way switch? I think Nick (‘old horse murphy’) has one for sale on here - edit...sorry just checked and it’s sold.
  4. I own 2 Mustangs, a Squier Mikey Way and a JMJ. The necks are very different, the JMJ is definitely a vintage profile and more of a handful. Don’t let the fact that it’s a Mex put you off, it’s definitely a quality piece of kit but I suspect that the neck profile wouldn’t be for you if you’re looking for more of a Jazz nut width.
  5. I knew it was too easy Warren
  6. No.....a town a good 200 miles north of Cowes
  7. I'll give you a clue. It will be similar to one used by an individual who was born in my home town.....
  8. Pleased to say I will re-joining the Status owners club after an absence of about 4 years. I've missed my old Streamline and always promised myself that I'd get another Status bass at some point. After discussion with Rob he confirmed he had a couple of basses in the final stages of prep and was able to direct one to me so with luck it will be hitting my door (hopefully with not too big a thud) some time next week.
  9. Forgot to mention. These are superb basses. I had a 2015 model that was superior in every way to the 1982 JV 57' P Bass I once owned. Sadly I was stupid enough to sell it......
  10. Trade offers by pm only. Polite notice.
  11. No worries BBD. Just warning you though, if you get the tour of Jon's basses and wood pile you could end up with a bigger bill than you expected
  12. If you’re in South Yorkshire (I’m in Rotherham) I usually take my patients to Jon Shuker in Hope Valley. Not the quickest if he’s busy but reasonable £ and you’ll get a good job.

    1985

Think I bought 3 out of 4 of them, must have been the equivalent of ‘Rumours’ in 1985 😂
  14. I picked up 2 NY121s to replace a BF cab to run with my (then) LM3. The thing that surprised me was not so much the extra volume of 2 over 1 but the greater depth and authority. I only use 1 cab in small rehearsals or jams and even at a small pub gig I use 2 even if I don’t need the volume.
  15. Cheers Warren, they are a bit special, you don’t see them come up that often. Wish I could have snagged one of the Starry Night Sterlings!
  16. I made it to 45 seconds, do I win a pork pie?
  17. Here we have a superb example of a Stingray PDN special edition (2017/18) 4H. This was obtained off BC in a trade and was originally intended for use in my Glam Rock tribute band due to it’s erm....subdued paintwork. Alas it hasn’t been used in this function as I tend to find my Mustangs more suitable for this job (and the Mikey Way sig is glitter tastic also) and for ‘long scale’ use I tend to favour my Sterling as I prefer the neck profile. The camera struggles to capture how awesome the pearlescent large flake paintwork is; this is in excellent condition and has just one tiny 2mm blip on the upper bout which was there when I obtained it. There is also a small purely cosmetic mark on the top of the headstock where it no doubt encountered a cymbal or some such. The neck is roasted Birdseye maple with a gorgeous dark ebony board with stainless steel frets. I love the stainless frets so much I had these installed on my Sterling when I had the neck refinished. I did put this up for sale about a year ago but what with the pandemic and no giggage it was put on the back burner. Hopefully now a meet up would be as I would prefer not to post unless the buyer arranged courier and accepted responsibility. I'd prefer a straight sale as I am looking at the sale funding a new Status, however I would consider a 4 string (preferably headless) Status in a similarly excellent condition with cash either way depending on the bass.
  18. Awesome bass sir, I had one myself in this same colour, number 00264. Excellent price my friend, imho up there or better than custom shop quality.
  19. Hope everything goes well Blue. I appreciate what you’re going through, half way through chemo myself but hoping to be fit for gigging come June. All the best buddy.
  20. I've got a JMJ Mustang which also has a tendency to head south, not the worst neck dive I've experienced but I know what you mean, fortunately I don't mind too much about resting my arm on the top edge when playing sat down. My Mikey Way sig Mustang despite being distinctly less posh has no neck dive whatsoever (the neck is thinner and jazz profile nut) but these don't come up for sale that often. The best short scale I've played (and still have) for 'zero neck dive' and comfort is the Dano Longhorn but these aren't to everyone's taste.
  21. I think this was the one you bought off me B, it was a very nice SR5, shame I never took to 5 string.
  22. Too many years playing Stingrays and loud drummers.....
  23. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/music-fidelity-mc-mm-phono-stage/203290096263?hash=item2f5508b287:g:yXYAAOSwAnZgOOAD I upgraded from the project pre to this one from Musical Fidelity. Still go for reasonable prices on the bay of e and a massive step up in sound quality.
  24. Couldn't tell you. My abiding recollection was that the journey home on South Yorkshire's finest cheap buses was more enjoyable.
