  1. It’s a Jazz width nut my friend. Edit, just checked to be on the safe side and it is indeed a 38mm nut.
  2. The second of two short scales that I’ve put up for sale to do some much needed consolidation. I’ve had this Longhorn a few months and it’s served as back up to my Mustang on gigs but has (fortunately or unfortunately depended it on which way you look at it) never been used....so it’s still in minty fresh condition. Unfortunately no bag for this one so it’s collection or close meet up only. Thanks for looking 🙂 Nearly forgot, it’s set up with nice fairly fresh flats (D Addarios I believe)
  3. It is with a heavy heart that this one goes up for sale but after careful consideration I’ve decided that some shortie bass consolidation is in order. I’ve currently got 3 shorties, two Mustangs and a Dano longhorn. The silver sparkle gets most use in the glam rock band (for obvious reasons!) so the other 2 will be consolidated into one. So, what about this bass, well it’s been babied in my possession and in the possession of the previous BC owner so it’s in fine fettle for a 17 year old bass. It’s in candy apple red with cream comp stripes. This one has the stock Seymour Duncan pups which sound very smooth and punchy. There are a few minor dings and one small scratch (all pictured) but nothing serious or through the paint. The guitar has had a full service and set up whilst in my possession and plays with a nice low action. Gig bag only so I’d prefer a collection on this or a close meet up. No trades, sorry. Thanks for looking 😊
  4. I won't Pete. Not been using it much though, seriously thinking of letting it go along with the MIJ Mustang and picking up a J-M Relic Mustang. I know this is heresy but the wife has finally convinced me that I need to 'downsize' a bit now that I play in just one band and don't need too much variety. Sorry.....I'll shut up now. Looking forward to seeing you guys in Sheffield in a few weeks.
  5. I know it's being picky but I just think the standard BBOT bridge looks wrong on a 'Stang. It needs to look like this.......loving the maple board though.
  6. Thanks Chris, I was wondering if the problem was being exacerbated by the fact that my arm is less extended on the Shorties than on my 9previously) more regular long scales. I've never been comfortable with the bass hanging around my knees so tend to have the bass at 'stomach' height which can cramp my left arm?
  7. Thanks for the advice guys. I've got a short (4 week) break in playing coming up and this seems to be the window of opportunity.
  8. I can get the works Physio to do some manipulation but at the minute it's not preventing me from doing my job so....... I try and do a gentle warm up but this one doesn't feel muscular (lots of clicking on rotation) - maybe the joint's buggered.....
  9. Over the last few years my gigging has increased significantly, from an average of 15 to 50 per year or so. I know in the scheme of things (compared to some of you lot) this isn't excessive but I'm starting to see some repercussions. The main repercussion is increasing problems in my left shoulder (I'm a right hander), no pain on playing but lifting my arm above shoulder height (out straight) is becoming increasingly painful. I've tried to reduce playing in the week (practice, jamnights what have you) in the last few weeks to try and rest it but that doesn't seem to be helping any. I don't know if it's significant but; 1. I ain't getting any younger and maybe it's just wear an tear catching up and 2. as I've had neck problems in the past (trapped nerve) I went light weight on basses for gigging and use only shorties - 2 Mustangs and a Dano Longhorn about 18 months back. I'm just wondering if the latter in particular could be a factor (I use a Ray and a US Sterling for all other playing)? Any suggestions would be helpful before I go down the Physio route.
  10. I always forget the middle section in that at jam nights......
  11. https://www.money.co.uk/guides/do-you-have-to-pay-private-parking-tickets.htm Check this out S.
  12. I don’t believe they do - check the wording on the penalty notice, it might be a ‘file in the bin’
  13. It is Al. Very careful now when I change batteries, always do it at home and not in a rush on a gig.
  14. Cheers Dave, much appreciated. The sound engineers did a great job at this one.
  15. Two cracking gigs over the weekend with Glam Fever. First up on the Friday evening, a national bikers rally event at the Royal Cheshire showground near Knutsford. Although we were the first band on the marquee was pretty full (a few hundred) and the crowd were pretty much on their feet from the start. A cracking 90 minute set with 2 encores - we look forward to returning next year. Second, at a very nice club in Sleaford, South Lincs. We were pretty knackered from the day before but the crowd were brilliant and were on their feet from the first song in the first set to the last song in the second set. Wish all weekends were like this!
  16. Probably not Dan, you’ll have to satisfy yourself with the charcoal on yer toast
  17. Reproduction - The Human League Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division This Mortal Coil - It'll end in tears Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth OMD - Architecture and Morality Bowie - Station to Station
  18. Ditto. Some gigs I do for love and enjoyment - some I look at as a paid practice. The money goes in a pot towards something desirable, that thought helps at the grimmer gigs.
  19. That's a great price on one of these - I really wish I could justify it. GLWTS
  20. I get the 'Iggle Piggle' song stuck in my head..........nearly as bad as Peppa.
  21. ...well that ain’t what I’m playing lol. Then again we’ve keyed it down and I ain’t going 5 string on it! Might have to use the Rick instead of my usual Mustang....
  22. I hope you’re being ironicalistic on that...just about to bring that into the Glam set and I feel my fingers are gonna melt by the end.....
  23. Can’t be completely sure Danny but I believe the finish on my roasted neck is standard oil/wax, the lacquer is on the headstock only. I don’t mind the oil wax on mine as the board is ebony not maple.
  24. For some reason I don’t mind it so much on my roasted neck PDN that has an ebony board but maple/maple - I agree with you. I think gloss is standard on the classics but then you end up with the slab body?
  25. Great to have my Sterling back after its visit to Mr Shuker. I wasn’t keen on the bland neck (maple board wax/oil jobbie) so after a conversation with DeeDee the bass was taken into the heart of the Peak District. Very happy with the work, a nice vintage tint gloss and stainless frets - looks awesome.
