  1. Dano Longhorn shortie, I'll check later but sure mine comes in at the 6lb or less end of the scale (very light compared to my Mustangs). Looks aren't to everyone's taste but the body does help cut down on neck dive which can be an affliction on lightweight basses (and to me renders lightweight basses more uncomfortable than their well-balance heavier cousins). Shameless plug...there's one for sale in the FS section at a very reasonable price....
  2. Currently got a JMJ (just picked up from Will off this fair site). First impressions are that it has a very nice warm but punchy core tone with the stock Fender flats. It has that very played in feel that comes with the MIM roadworn territory, I think the attention to detail on the relicing is a notch up on the Jazz roadworns I've played though (e.g. very nice checking on the body). Compared to my CIJ Mustang made in 2002 (I think it's a 1966 re-issue?) the neck is a bit chunkier (more playable to me) and the headstock a little thicker. The JMJ has a satin finish neck, the CIJ a vintage tint gloss. They both have SD pickups which are more similar than different, the JMJ seems a bit more 'vintage' but it's hard to tell unless they were wearing the same strings (my CIJ has Fender rounds). At the minute I'm struggling to justify having 2 similar Mustangs so my CIJ is up for sale.....however I'm secretly hoping SWMBO forgets my promise to sell one. You wouldn't go wrong with either the JMJ or the CIJ; In real terms, if buying used there's probably £200 between the 2 only you can decide if the difference is worth it to you.
  3. Strangely enough the cheapest - the Mikey Way. Can’t give you a good reason why, the other two sound better, guess that it’s just I’ve done a couple hundred gigs with it and it feels part of me.
  4. So sorry......the red one is for sale though so this is only transitory. However if more than a few weeks goes by the wife might forget.....
  5. It’s highly unlikely that I’ll ever have 3 Mustangs in the pack again, so for the brief period that this is the case I thought I’d grab a quick pic...
  6. For some reason I always associate the Undertones with a midnight blue Rick....
  7. Well, as it's expected, I will make a once only price drop on this to £550 - I'd prefer that the bass is collected as there is no hard case and I don't trust couriers with smashables. This is a rare bargain guys. Happy to do a meet up as long as it's within 30-40 miles or so.
  8. Wow that’s pretty light, sounds like a keeper.
  9. Think you’ll be lucky on a Mustang, most are alder or ash (or basswood in the case of the Mikey Way sig) with no body contours so I’d be surprised if you found anything less than 7.5lbs. You may get lucky though.
  10. According to the tried and tested bathroom digital scales method it comes in on 8lbs dead.
  11. I estimate between 8 and 8.5lb but I'll check when I'm back at the den
  12. It’s a Jazz width nut my friend. Edit, just checked to be on the safe side and it is indeed a 38mm nut.
  13. The second of two short scales that I’ve put up for sale to do some much needed consolidation. I’ve had this Longhorn a few months and it’s served as back up to my Mustang on gigs but has (fortunately or unfortunately depended it on which way you look at it) never been used....so it’s still in minty fresh condition. Unfortunately no bag for this one so it’s collection or close meet up only. Thanks for looking 🙂 Nearly forgot, it’s set up with nice fairly fresh flats (D Addarios I believe)
  14. It is with a heavy heart that this one goes up for sale but after careful consideration I’ve decided that some shortie bass consolidation is in order. I’ve currently got 3 shorties, two Mustangs and a Dano longhorn. The silver sparkle gets most use in the glam rock band (for obvious reasons!) so the other 2 will be consolidated into one. So, what about this bass, well it’s been babied in my possession and in the possession of the previous BC owner so it’s in fine fettle for a 17 year old bass. It’s in candy apple red with cream comp stripes. This one has the stock Seymour Duncan pups which sound very smooth and punchy. There are a few minor dings and one small scratch (all pictured) but nothing serious or through the paint. The guitar has had a full service and set up whilst in my possession and plays with a nice low action. Gig bag only so I’d prefer a collection on this or a close meet up. No trades, sorry. Thanks for looking 😊
  15. I won't Pete. Not been using it much though, seriously thinking of letting it go along with the MIJ Mustang and picking up a J-M Relic Mustang. I know this is heresy but the wife has finally convinced me that I need to 'downsize' a bit now that I play in just one band and don't need too much variety. Sorry.....I'll shut up now. Looking forward to seeing you guys in Sheffield in a few weeks.
  16. I know it's being picky but I just think the standard BBOT bridge looks wrong on a 'Stang. It needs to look like this.......loving the maple board though.
  17. Thanks Chris, I was wondering if the problem was being exacerbated by the fact that my arm is less extended on the Shorties than on my 9previously) more regular long scales. I've never been comfortable with the bass hanging around my knees so tend to have the bass at 'stomach' height which can cramp my left arm?
  18. Thanks for the advice guys. I've got a short (4 week) break in playing coming up and this seems to be the window of opportunity.
  19. I can get the works Physio to do some manipulation but at the minute it's not preventing me from doing my job so....... I try and do a gentle warm up but this one doesn't feel muscular (lots of clicking on rotation) - maybe the joint's buggered.....
  20. Over the last few years my gigging has increased significantly, from an average of 15 to 50 per year or so. I know in the scheme of things (compared to some of you lot) this isn't excessive but I'm starting to see some repercussions. The main repercussion is increasing problems in my left shoulder (I'm a right hander), no pain on playing but lifting my arm above shoulder height (out straight) is becoming increasingly painful. I've tried to reduce playing in the week (practice, jamnights what have you) in the last few weeks to try and rest it but that doesn't seem to be helping any. I don't know if it's significant but; 1. I ain't getting any younger and maybe it's just wear an tear catching up and 2. as I've had neck problems in the past (trapped nerve) I went light weight on basses for gigging and use only shorties - 2 Mustangs and a Dano Longhorn about 18 months back. I'm just wondering if the latter in particular could be a factor (I use a Ray and a US Sterling for all other playing)? Any suggestions would be helpful before I go down the Physio route.
  21. I always forget the middle section in that at jam nights......
  22. https://www.money.co.uk/guides/do-you-have-to-pay-private-parking-tickets.htm Check this out S.
  23. I don’t believe they do - check the wording on the penalty notice, it might be a ‘file in the bin’
  24. It is Al. Very careful now when I change batteries, always do it at home and not in a rush on a gig.
