  1. That's a shame Delb, hope you get sorted. IMHO you still need to be careful with the solid paint finishes, I know it's a few years back (problems with the UV cat process?), but even in 2010-2012 RIC were having problems with paint lifting off especially around the bridge area. Even the slightest paint issue on a new bass and I'd be sending it back for replacement. As Jonse said, 'classic Rickenbacker QC'.....so when you get a good one hang on to it.
  2. Yes Delb, you have to do that or you are officially a pillock ;-)
  3. Hi Eros, thanks for the interest but at this time I’m looking for a UK sale.
  4. Unfortunately a new acquisition means something has to move on. I’ve had this bass for about 10 years, it was bought for an 80s project but it was only used on stage a couple of times sadly. It’s got the lowest action of any fretless bass I’ve ever owned and will effortlessly produce the mwaaah we all seek. It’s the 2eq version which IMHO works better on the fretless Ray than the 3eq. This is a 2001 model and is in fantastic condition with no dings, cracks or chips to be seen, even the tip of the headstock is good. I suspect the bass has spent the majority of its life as a closet classic - it certainly has with me. The neck is nicely figured with a bit Birdseye and flame going on. Comes in the standard EBMM case which is in good condition with no cracks/damage whatsoever. I’d prefer collection (Yorkshire, East Mids) or meet up on this one but will entertain courier collection if arranged by the buyer. The pics are iPad sadly but I can arrange something better if required. Update: I will consider trades but only 4string fretted. I'm pretty picky but I can only say no eh?
  5. Had a few and all have been fine on a strap.
  6. Got a 2010 in this very same colour Delb. Fortunately it doesn't suffer from the dreaded paint bleed. Stick the bezel on and you're sorted! Very nice bass mate.
  7. It was called Aluminum before it was called Aluminium (and initially Alumium) - You have Sir Humphrey Davy to blame for that. Useless science fact of the day.
  8. After many years I've come to the conclusion that, like wands, the bass chooses the wizard....
  9. Maybe this is why I haven't moved on from the 70s and 80s
  10. Think you file this one under 'no loss'. Much better to be part of a band where you're appreciated.
  11. Thanks H - hadn’t noticed 🤪
  12. Wow, even Eddie the Eagle could manage 100m off that ski ramp.
  13. They are the same in as much as they both have strings and pups and make a bassy noise. Comp and boarding school are both schools that (sort of) provide education. Anyway...as you were.
  14. Yup, it's one of the good ones - doesn't get used in the current band though (Mustangs - go figure?). I'd love to buy the Stealth but the run of new bed, new tumble dryer and new washing machine ('Has to be a Miele' - the wife) has put paid to that!
  15. No.......working class comprehensive lol!
  16. You're just making it worse H. I really like the Stealth 5 in the for sale section but would have to sell my least used fretted bass (a bass of a variety that is 'unmentionable') to enable the purchase or risk being emasculated by she who must be obeyed!
  17. Keep both Richard.....you know you'll end up buying another one of these a few months down the line!
  18. Looks really good that H. Not doing my Status GAS any good at all. Missing my old Streamline but can't decide which bass to cull to enable an acquisition. A nice replacement (fretted) neck on my MM Fretless might be the order of the day!
  19. You've just told my early musical history.........not born on/around 1963 by any chance?
  20. I think many many teachers, rather than wringing hands would like to wring necks. Unfortunately they are not allowed to these days. Shame, in my day it had the double advantage of improving the gene pool and providing entertainment for psychopathic metalwork teachers.
  21. I really wish someone would buy this.......it's like it's sitting there in the corner, taunting me for being poor!
  22. Agree C, think he's talking BS.......I think my tastes changed routinely through to my mid twenties and then more slowly thereafter.
  23. Didn’t read enough to note they were cedar. Had an overwater Perception in cedar, nice enough, picked dings up easily but no worse than basswood.
  24. IMHO the whole relic thing is very subjective, for instance I don't mind the look of an old P or J bass but I think a worn Rick looks 'stinky poo'. I think Ricks do seem to come off as being more fragile, I've had no problem with mine, but the relatively thin body and design doesn't seem as robust as a 10lb Ray or P bass. On a separate note, I'm wondering if some of these lightweight, sub 3Kg basses will stand up to the rigors of giggage?
  25. Think you've made the right decision mate, hope the replacement isn't too long in coming.
