1.
We set a price and didn't get it so I'll be going to see my mates band.. Free entry so don't feel obliged to stay forever ..
Ditto this end. First year I haven't played NYE in I can't remember when.
2.
Powered speakers have always worried me - it all looks fine when it's on a stage where you have control - put it 'down there' and watch some village idiot do something silly/terminal.....I'll stick with amps and string - it's easier, long-term.....
I was looking at actives, decided, after auditioning Mackies, RCFs etc that I'd only be satisfied with QSC as a minimum. With that level of cash outlay I decided it was sensible to look at passive with a decent power amp setup. Ended up with HK Audio Pro 12s with a Powered A&H desk and haven't regretted it.
3. I've moved from single 15 to 2 x 12 and not regretted it. Not exactly answering your question but I don't have any problem being heard above a loud drummer and loud guitarist in a pub scenario. I find using 2 12s rather than a single cab option to be more flexible.
4. Out........Squier VM 77 Jazz In.........Limelight 63 Jazz The quietest year I've had on BC for basses since I joined right at the beginning of BC. Part of the reason is that I seem to have all the tools I need at the minute and the Jazz swap out was just tweaking. The other part was that I've (unfortunately) used the gig cash putting the band PA together, sorting my own liightweight bass rig and building a small suite of effects. The big revelation this year has been the Limelight bass, I've had a fair few jazzes over the years, of all nationalities, but I never realised there were so many nuances in the JB sound palette until I got this one.
5.
Anyone seen this? http://femurdesign.com/theremin/
Love that KB.....very 1950s Forbidden Planet
6. Last gig before XMas. Limelight 63 Jazz heavy relic into a LM3 and 2 x NY121 cabs.
7. ...thought this was going to be something about the Human League.
8. I usually make an overpayment to cover the sellers fees so I'm still covered. Or if I've got enough in my paypal account pay directly from that ( no fees).
9. Very nice. Don't come up often. Keep thinking about changing my streamline out for one of these.....would have to be headless though. GLWTS
10.
I really like that but lets not tell everyone, I have a reputation to keep up
We'll keep it between us Pete!
11. Another vote for the MXR M80+ here. Nice box, the distortion isn't too offensive should you want to use it, runs off phantom power, batts or DC and about £80 used.
12. They work ok G but aren't the best quality. I had a friend fit some wilkies to one of mine (he reamed out the holes) which were much better for not much outlay.
13. I've had a Mighty Mite neck (fitted to the last Affinity I had through my hands), rod access at the neck end and wood quality on the lower end of the scale. Definitely different to the neck on my LL which has better fretwork, a slab board and clay dots.
14. Not had the J but had a couple of Affinity P basses over the last few years. Forty quid is a good price. Stock hardware and pups are a bit meh but plenty good enough for casual use and forms a decent base for upgrade (I put a wizard thumper and some wilkinson hardware in mine). I also ended up changing the neck on my last one but that was only for fun.....here's the before and after.
15. That bass is a Cheyenne2....cracking bass, has a playable neck for normal bassists unlike the first Cheyenne which could be converted to a 5er ;-). Forgot to say K, nice purchase!
16. I had a Jetglo 4004cii last year and I tried really hard to love it but through my Barefaced set up couldn't get the sort of Rick sound I was looking for (always too bassy, and a bit of a weird phasing sound when both pups were selected to my ears). Ended up swapping it for a 4003 which has the sound I wanted but is nowhere near as nice to play. Pretty sure with my new (to me) MB rig I'd get the sound I was looking for now.......pity I didn't know that at the time.
17. Just the one blue bass.....everything else is black in my camp.
18. The Missouri to Texas railroad. I'm old.
19. Think I'll give this one last crack before the silly season. And because this is the season to be cheerful I'll drop this to £50 including postage. How mad am I? I'm also on the lookout for a Markbass Super Synth so would be happy to include this in a trade deal.
20. HK Audio Pro12....we have a pair of these passives, much lighter than the Peavey Hysis 1s that they replaced (and much clearer and more capable too). Can't recommend them highly enough, we tried them against the equivalent cost EV offerings and, for us, the comparison easily favoured the German jobs.
21. Not owned an HH 25th but have played a Standard HH Ray4 in a shoppe. Daft question, but have you played it just on the bridge pup - I found playing on both pups was a bit muddy for my tastes compared to a single H ray4. Couldn't tell you if I was series, parallel or whatever mind.
22. Add a NY121 to add mega punch, plus some tweeter hiss if you want it (you can go from zero to full on on the cab)
23. I was waiting for one of these for ages.....eventually got fed up of waiting and bought a Limelight. Don't think you need any luck selling this!
24. Can't go wrong with the LM3 - lovely little amp. Enjoy.
