1.
oo so tempted by this if it ain't sold to blyn
Wouldn't blame you on that one Andy. Only wish I could get on with P basses ( I seem incapable of getting a decent sound out of one to my damaged ears) - I'd probably be fighting you for it
2. Bit of a daft question but how will the sound differ between switching off the tweeter in the 121 and taking it out of circuit? I always use a pair of 121s with the tweeters 'off' and there always seems to be plenty of punch and top end but no harshness.
3. Very nice Skej!
4. Getting rare these days that I find a bass to Gas over, but I really wish I had the cash for this.......nostalgia for my long departed JV57 P bass.
5.
marts' '63 j is a magnificent sounding, looking and feeling bass, I met it last night and was totally impressed! ...even if it had been way more expensive than it was!!
Cheers Andy. Always nice to meet a fellow BCer, looking forward to catching you guys when yore playing locally.
6.
Aww... OK then. I thought it was quite good.
It was worth a try! Very nice, don't forget the pics when it's in situ mate?
7.
Lovely. I'd just like to say for the record that there is nothing whatsoever wrong with Limelight tort guards, and Mark does a really excellent relic job on them - it's just that Spitfire guards are so damn luscious, groovy, 3D and extremely desirable! Ohh. Mine's just been despatched from California and is winging it's way to discreet towers as I type...
Nah, that's horrible, feel free to send it to me when it arrives and I'll, um, think of some way of disposing of it.....
8. Didn't think of that EBS, but you're right. I bought my Streamie off Rich (outtoplayjazz) a few years back and it was equipped with 30s. It didn't sound good to me until I got some 40s on it.
9. I've never subscribed to this 'brittleness' in an all carbon construction - I can make my Streamline sound warm enough without judicious EQ. Also my 'all wood' Ric doesn't sound warm at all - so I think the 'tronics have a big say in the final sound.
10. TBH, and trying not to be biassed, I can't see how this is a 'better' construction by Jon....only different, both will no doubt have their pros and cons. Much the same as through-neck better than bolt-on, maple better than rosewood etc.
11. Hi S, Is it 210mm deep like the case in the link? Cheers, Mart
12. Very beautilicious HJ....as with the rest of the community, skint as a flint!
13. Played a local wine bar that was chokka and rammed full of 10 bob millionaires and TOWIE rejects. Unfortunately the bar owner left the TV running so we were competing against the footy. Despite spirited renditions of Clash, Alarm, Cure, Dexys classics it ws definitely a case of Costa Rica/Netherlands 1: Band 0
14.
Well, I pulled the trigger and am now an owner of a 4003 in Jetglo. Gotta say I'm bowled over. Undoubted, that I'll use this constantly for the next couple of months and then go back to my Thunderbirds, but it's a nice backup option to have. P
I'm more of a Jazz bass/Stingray guy but I do use a 4003 for the occasional gig. It's a great bass to have in the line up, it just has that tone. Try and hang onto it once the initial newness wears off and bring it out for the odd special occasion!
15. HK audio pro 15 passive. Great full range speakers
16. Indeed....wish I had some. Lots of PA gear to sort! I'll have to carry on playing Rio and Hungry Like The Wolf on a Ric lol!
17. I really like that! Unfortunately the only Jazz shaped thing I have is a 'relic' which is not to everyones taste.. Been looking for one in this condsih for ages as well :-(
18. Damn, just what I'm looking for but you're 200 miles away, never mind. GLWTS
19. Have you tried putting new batteries in yet?
20. Was really impressed with my VM77 Jazz (black)......these are a lot of bass for the money. GLWTS
21. What's global warming, war on terror, the upcoming zombie apocalypse in comparison to this WoT???? No contest!
22. I could send it to you D, but I'm afraid I'd have to kill you afterwards. I'm glad normal (hah!) service has been restored.
23.
almost certainly similar enough to attest to limelight quality though yes
I'd have thought so...core sound is the same. Just waiting for the hot wires to be delivered but you're welcome to have a go on the stock strings.
24. Very similar to Mark's except, 1963, black, heavy relic..........um, quite different when I think about it.
