1. ........and sold.
2. Wish I had a way of recording a decent sound. When I first got it I went through my iRig/iPad and it didn't impress me - the tone of the bridge pup sounded a bit weak and I was going to lift the bridge pup. Fortunately I waited until I could get a proper listen through my MB set up.....the sound was much better balanced and authoritative. I won't make that mistake again. TBH I always consider the pups as an easily changeable beast....I was well prepared to change out for some FCS, however I won't be doing that, the sound from mine is much better than I expected with more subtleties than any Jazz I've owned before.
3. I keep thinking about one of these.....however I suppose it'd be a bit of an overindulgence seeing as we only do one DD cover!
4. We'll I did say I'd post a few pics when I got chance. My 63JB is getting a bit of attention play wise but below shows some if the construction and relic details. Firstly.....I do believe that is a slab board. Secondly, hole drilled on the back of the headstock where the 'missing' third strap pin should be. Thirdly, crack in the scratch plate. As said before, not to everyone's taste but the attention to detail is pretty good at this price point.
5.
I sincerely hope they don't. Otherwise my GAS for a CAR Jazz with blocks/binding & matching headstock may become too great to withstand.
They do ;-)
6. Not going to help here I fear. My heavy relic black Jazz 63 turned up today. Now I'm still not sure if I'm for or against the relic look, but this bass feels old as well as looks old. The neck is sublime - it has a chunkier neck profile than most Modern JBs I've played but it feels so comfortable and the relicing treatment on the neck makes it nice and fast. In terms of relicing detail, it is much better than Fender RW. For example the small crack in the pickguard and the ageing of the tortoise is very well done. One thing I wasn't expecting was the sound......I don't know where a Mark gets the pups from but they are sublime! The neck is beautifully honky and the neck dials in nicely to add bite in spades. In summary, the looks may not be to everyone's taste but I can't argue with the results either in the feel/playability and the sounds.
7. A still available bump...
8. Very nice Nick!
9. Bump for a very nice Squier VM.
10. Does anyone know where he sources the pups....I also had factored in to get some FCS or similar pups when I get it, if the stock pups are that good then 'bonus'!
11. I used the contact portal on the site, Mark responded within a couple of hours.
12. I've posted some pics on the thread on Limelight in 'bass guitars'. I'll get some better ones up when I get the bass next week. :-)
13. Pics as promised.
14. I picked up this bass new from GAK last year basically because I was missing my US AVRI 75 Jazz which I had sold to buy a Ric (yes we all make mistakes....). To be honest my expectations wern't high but the bass has very much impressed me, so much that I decided to have a 63 Jazz made by Limelight. Unfortunately I have the rule of one bass in - one bass out so this has to go. It's in great condition with no chips, dings or scratches beyond the 'swirly' category. After a set up and nut filing the bass plays great with a low-medium action with no buzz at all. The neck is very nice, very well finished gloss laquer, blocks and binding - amazed that Fender can do that at this price point. I will very much miss this bass, I used it last night at a local pub gig and it has that lovely attack and growl that I love in a Jazz, I'd originally planned to swap out the pups but I've really found no need for that. For some reason the uploader doesn't want to play with my iPad at the minute so I'll get the pics up as soon as I can get to my laptop. Anyway, £175 is the asking price, I'd prefer collection or meet up but will post in the original packing box at the buyers expense.
15. Well mine is now ready other than the set up so I'll be getting to grips with her next week. In the end it's on the heavy side of medium-relic as I took one that was nearly finished. The body is heavy relic, the neck medium and the metal work is tarnished but not rusty or gunky in line with my original spec. Anyway this is worthless without pics, so here we go:
16. Just been informed mine will be turning up early..hopefully next week. Will post pics when available!
17. These are seriously nice.....loved the one you have too Martin. GLWTS
18. Amazed this is still here, wish I had the cash.
19. Marmite.......but I love marmite, especially with a nice mature cheddar.
20. Put the deposit down on my build earlier this week. 63 Jazz clone, medium relic, black, rosewood with clay dots, hardware tarnished but not rusty/gunky. It'll be replacing my go to VM77 Jazz that regenerated my love for Jazzes. Should get it just in time for the summer season gigs!
21. Now that's a thing of beauty G!
22. I had an active ash 'vette a few years back. Found the passive setting more than usable, but the active did give the bass a lot more flexibility in a live setting. If the price is good then go for it.
23. I usually dislike natural finish but that is truly superb!
