  1. To be honest when I had mine it felt more long scale than short, I didn't feel the need to make an adjustment like I do when moving between my 34" and 30". I've not really found any other bass channel the Rick vibe, they are a singular beast, I'd suggest looking at one of the good Japanese fakers if money is an issue.
  2. One last push on this one before I shelve the idea and go to plan B. I have a trade value for this and would consider an offer that betters this. I'm already wavering on letting this one go so I'll float this for a day or so before committing.
  3. Also excited to see the Pawn Shop but it would mean pushing on one of my Mustangs, likely the Mikey Way sig which I know I'd regret
  4. Had a longhorn and foolishly sold it as I didn’t like the crème brûlée colour scheme…..but this looks awesome
  5. I think the stock pups are pretty good, I gather the stock pre is a bit meh which is why people stick in a proper Sadowsky one or the East.
  6. The previous owner of mine had a John East installed - perfect.
  7. Yep @carlsim I need to do just that, and pretty it up a bit.
  8. I picked up a later first Gen fretless one off here and to be honest it's a great bass. Put together nicely, lightweight but well balanced can't fault it really. The fretboard is a great slab of ebony, the paint job is gloss (hate cheap satin finishes) and flawless to my eyes Things I don't like; the headstock decal (yes, I'm shallow) and the adjustable nut isn't the prettiest.
  9. Wouldn't sweat it - it's a Jam. I get caught out all the time; I'm filling in on the house band at a local Jam for a few weeks while the normal bassist is recovering from surgery and have had to pick up quite a few songs on the fly. Managed to play a Fratellis song pretty badly last night that I thought I knew, a combination of the less than great monitors and my crap hearing had me playing catch-up on the key through most of the song.......nobody made a comment.
  10. After a few weeks off we were back to the fore last night at a local charity event in a social club. Went for the set up in the afternoon as I’d agreed to let the band on before us use my bass rig, we were last on so that was fine. The soundcheck seemed to take forever, I guess I’m just used to us being quick and tidy on that at our own gigs….and of course as we were last on there were sound glitches when we started - no monitor feed, but we got through it. I was happy with our set considering our little lay off and the packed house loved it. In all the event raised over £2200 for blood wise and Weston Park cancer charities in the name of the bassist who died of leukaemia in a band our guitarist and drummer were in over 20 years ago. Things like this make it all worthwhile. I decided to use my EBMM Sterling on the gig, haven’t used it in years and it didn’t disappoint, made me wonder why I’m selling it.
  11. Who are you and what have you done with chris_b?
  12. I still remember being told that there would be no need for bass players when synths became big in 1979.....
  13. I think that's the key mate - show willing. I had sort of audition for a dep job last year, rock and roll so not really my genre. I got a list of 35 songs, most in non-original keys. I worked my ass off to nail them which wasn't easy as many of the lines swam into one in my brain. Was only foxed by one song which was an odd timing/shuffle/feel type thing but it worked out ok on a second run through. Got the job but sadly the run of 4 gigs got cancelled. Still, it's all practice init.
  14. I use this one for my Mustangs on the rare occasion I need something more durable than a Gigbag. It's a tightish squeeze but it works fine. https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjblbvf2-6EAxVjNdQBHagiBXwYABAOGgJvYQ&ase=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI25W739vuhAMVYzXUAR2oIgV8EAQYASABEgKDtPD_BwE&ei=ZUnwZeznCrDii-gPr-6QqAU&sig=AOD64_3ekFMsS--rJUmXG4pJlozpsDakPA&ctype=5&q=&nis=4&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwisrrDf2-6EAxUw8QIHHS83BFUQ9aACKAB6BAgHEBE&adurl=
  15. I'm usually ok with 3 out of 4 of those Blue....
  16. Status Chris Wolstenholme S2. A very versatile bass, definitely not a one-trick pony. Bought mine as it ticked the boxes, mostly, and was available quickly just before Rob closed the production on carbon fibre basses. I'm not a big Muse fan and to be honest with the level of effects CW uses he could use any old bass and get the same sound......opinions may differ.
  17. First time I gigged in Bradford city centre I got hit with 2 tickets in the space of 5 minutes…my satnav had guided me into a bus/taxi lane twice. Found out later that to do the turn into the venue, in order to miss the ticket you had to travel about half a mile out of the centre to come back in and do a left turn. Joyous…
  18. Not great is it mate, there’s been a few centre venues looking for acts - must be having an effect. We tend to stay out of city centre now - particularly Bradford 🤬
  19. Same happened in Sheffield Dave, we’ve now crossed city centre off our gig area list - the parking costs were bad enough and venues can’t afford the price hike if we pass it on.
  20. Wish I had the cash dude, really miss mine. When you look at the price of new EBMM then this one is a steal.
  21. Faker than the fakest, fake thing. Bridge - off a Sub or generic Chinese. Headstock logos, back and front wrong. Body wood mismatched - never seen that on a trans EBMM. Machine heads not marked. Run away....
  22. Ditto, don't think my fretless would work in a Glam band.... I sold my EBMM Ray fretless and bought a cheaper Saddo Metro Express to free up some cash but still have a fretless for the odd noodle.
  23. Well, I’ll have one last crack at this with a final final reduction before going to plan B. So if anyone wants a great condition Sterling at a great price fill yer boots.
