1. Ooh this is nice, just need to sell my Frankenfender P bass first .......
2.
Is this a good time to mention that I'd consider a p/x for a Fretless Ray to £850?
No it's a very bad time you naughty person you. If I had a spare £850 you would have a particularly nice, very near mint 2001 Black F/L Ray with a very figured neck coming your way.
3. [sup]Nick this is just.....tormenting!!![/sup] [sup]I've fancied this for a long time but didn't think Pete would ever sell. And now you put this up when I have 47p, 3 buttons and a dead squirrel to me name :-P[/sup]
4. Nice bass Pete. I could do with a nice Jazz to replace my redundant Precision.......which coincidently enough also used to be yours (tho there's not much of the original bass left). I'll have to get around to selling it at some point to fund the double pup temptation.
5.
These are pretty similar to what an ex Rickenbacker employee was recommending for Ricks, which worked really well for me. Somewhere I've got the exact details & I'll try and find them. The old CV finish was quite susceptible to interacting with certain foams, which may explain the haze you've picked up if it's been in non-Rick cases or cheapo guitar stands.
Nah, this is the new UV cured finish....just never seems to come up as nice as say the MM poly coat. You know that very deep gloss like a new Audi! Finish on Ricks always seems thin to me though in comparison to some....guess it's part of the plan.
6. Does it work on Ricks.......honest not being sarcastic. My MM and Status are glossy gloss like but for some reason every Rick I've had has a haze to it.....
7. Also.....there is no such thing as 'the one' some days you're a Status person sometimes a MM flats your boat, we're a contrary bunch. Hang on to your preeb you'll only regret it down the line. All it asks is that you pick it up occasionally.
8. Pete, fwiw, the SR5 pi5535 all over the Lakky......in my very humble opinion of course ;-)
9. I have something that would suit you Nick but I'm resisting....I've been down the 5 route 4 times and it's never worked out for me. All the same have a bump mate for a particularly fine looking MM
10. 30 years of playing on 20 fret standards gives me a hiccough when playing Alright Now (yes I Know) on my Status.....I end up playing the break on harmonics rather than up the dusty end because I cock up otherwise!
11.
All this over having to pay a measly TWENTY QUID to advertise as much as you like for a whole year. Unbelievable. I bet half the complainers spend twice as much as that on beer of a weekend.
I thought the original thread was regarding the reduction in 'for sale' traffic. A number of reasons were postulated INCLUDING the introduction of fees. It is fairly certain there is a causal link. Personally I'm not complaining about the fees BUT it has reduced the amount of traffic I am doing.......a nice side benefit GAS diffusion (there's an old Chemist's joke in there somewhere).
12.
Fine, you're obviously the expert, although you might want to take a look at a better disguise for insults than sticking a smiley face on the end of the sentence.
The point was valid. It didn't look like an insult IMHO. You are being sensitive.....again an opinion not an insult. (no smiley) The fact is some members are now pushing gear through alternative routes to BC because of the fees. If this does not concern you then fair enough.
13. Oooooh....getting gas again andivenoticed I have something on your trades list, glad you're not in my locality. GLWTT
14.
2(4/3πR³) !
Not sure they are totally spherical but i'm sure there must be a non mathematical way of determining volume utilising a bath of soapy water or some such....
15. The bass doesn't care about politics John, it just wants to be played. Cracking looking Rick.
16. Surprised this is still here George, lovely bass even if it is 'the demon's spawn'! I'd have it meself but I'd have to sell another child of the Devil first.
17. Not much of my original squier left. Neck swapped out for a mighty mite, wilkinson tuners, CTS pots and new wiring, orange drop cap, Bass Doc pic guard and Wizard Thumper. Was it worth the spend.....absolutely.
18. Very, very nice.
19. If anything could tempt me back to having a US P bass again it would be this Nick. Have an unlined MM Fretless, unfortunately I don't have the other £1700, GLWTS Nick.
20. Get a nice Status to go with that Jazz George and then maybe a nice thumpy P bass.....and maybe a fretless WAL to finish off ;-) Hope you find what you're looking for G. Regarding Ricks, I'm coming to the conclusion that QC can be a bit shonky and they aren't the easiest bass to play from an ergonomic point of view, however if you like the 4003/4001 sound it seems to be the only way of getting that sound.
21. Recently Ive pretty much gone for trades on here to accommodate the fact that basses in the >£1000 bracket seem to be slow movers.
22. Wish I could stop coming back to look at this. Amazed it's still here!
