  1. This was my accidental introduction to Jinjer. Not a kosher live vid as such, but my initial response went along the lines of... "Whoa.... dig the shorts..... ooh nice riffage..... sweet - she can actually sing............ Holy Cr@p!!!!.....
  2. Had a Japanese Geddy Lee jazz off a member on here. I liked it a lot and did a shedload of gigs with it. I then moved into active basses and sold it on along with a Squier that I had as a back up. I'd like to try the American Geddy....
  3. And beware the drunken old fart who comes lurching towards the stage clutching a harmonica....
  4. Do you have an alternative bass that sounds or plays different to your main one? Sometimes it's enough to either pick up a Stingray instead of a Jazz, or a 6er instead of a 4 string just to get something different in the sound or feel. Failing that, maybe try back pick-up rather than front/both or vice versa??... Obviously if you have only one bass with one pick-up then this post is somewhat redundant... maybe try different settings on your amp - put on a bit of overdrive or something?
  5. I lift weights and look like an axe murderer, so they tend to bugger off if I start walking towards them. I have largely the same effect on single ladies, unfortunately.... πŸ˜•
  6. I barely got past the moment she opened her gob....
  7. ...or from down my way... 😲
  8. Cracking mullet on the bass dude though.... πŸ˜‚
  9. You've got to be realistic.... I start work at 6am so midweek late gigs aren't really an option. If you've got a dep who would like to stand in, happy days!
  10. A band I accidentally (and belatedly) discovered a couple of days ago. Rock/Jazz/Funk fusion... guitarist is called Jeff Kollman - he's pretty handy... imagine Greg Howe meets Philip Sayce sort of thing. Bassist is called Barry Sparks - not familiar with him but there is some great playing in there!
  11. Stick to venues where people actually want to listen to and see a live band.... and in my case original material.
  12. 6'5" in my stilettos... otherwise a regular 5'11".... πŸ™‚
  13. Love these guys and how they slip the humour in with the more serious aspects.
  14. Sounds like a King Gizzard album.... πŸ˜„
  15. Guitarist is bored out of her mind...
  16. Ahhhh.... it all starts to make sense now.. πŸ™‚
  17. Thank you, good sir! Had a quick look - I like it so far... I shall investigate further at the weekend when I've got more time to immerse myself 😎
  18. I like the Winery Dogs and Oysterhead, but I agree with Audioslave. I think Winery Dogs got it right by having a songwriter on board in the shape of Richie Kotzen. I pretty much lost interest in him back when he joined Poison (Ugh!), and missed out on his stuff up to WD. There's plenty of noodling, but enough song going on to make it a winner for me. Sons of Apollo... some of it I like, some of it I don't... the jury is still out...
  19. Have you ever looked at the line up of musicians for a new project and thought, "Wow, this is going to be fantastic!" then when they release an album you end up quite disappointed? Chickenfoot springs to mind, and also Gizmodrome (unpopular opinion alert!) though I think that one was more down to my expectations than anything they were doing wrong. Obviously, it will be subjective... Any others?
  20. This is a set I watch quite regularly.. πŸ™‚
  21. I just had a look for Infected Mushroom on youtube.... I like it already!... reminds me of Shpongle and Ozric Tentacles a bit too.... πŸ™‚
  22. A mate of mine put me onto this Israeli 3 piece a few months back. Love their stuff... sort of proggy, trippy jazz of a sort... Bassist has some skills and a box of tricks too!
  23. In my experience many of them don't have transport either.... 😩
