  1. Years ago I was in a band that did a lot of grunge. If we did one of the first tracks off an album, we often used to play the second one just after. Pearl Jam's Once was followed by Even Flow, Alice In Chains' Them Bones was followed by Dam That River etc. Dunno why but some punters used to go nuts over that. *shrug*

Rich may have been hated, but I bet he had no problem finding a bass player when he needed one...............

Probably true. but I can't help wondering how many top level players passed him over in favour of working with another top level musician who wasn't an *ssh*le.

  3. Like someone else mentioned earlier, I'm unsure of the context. However, if he just came out with "You wanna f**k with me on the bandstand?" in this neck of the woods, there's a strong chance he'd get all 24 frets sunk in him.

Being a great musician doesn't give you a free pass to abuse people to that level. But then, we all have different levels of tolerance.... and again... context.

  4. Not bad - bassline is quite groovy, but it lacks the grunt that RHCP used to deliver. I sort of lost interest after Blood Sugar Sex Magic and they got a bit too commercial for my taste. Don't blame 'em for that, though. Good luck to them - they've earned their success.

  5. Similar claims have been made about The Eagles' Hotel California being a rip off of Jethro Tull's We Used To Know, but I don't think it ever went as far as court AFAIK. The general consensus among musos is that chord progressions were shared in the same manner as needles back in the day.

Look at blues and rock'n'roll - I guess some stuff is considered more 'open source' than others. I can understand people getting upset about apparent 'plagiarism' though. I guess the debate will rumble on.... *shrug*
