[b]Now £1500 No trades please.[/b] Up for sale is my Custom Shop, NOS, 1955 Precision. It's made in 2005 and has an ash body, quarter sawn maple neck and a maple fingerboard. It's a great player, sounds deep, crisp and full and weighs in at a shade over 9lbs without the covers and 9.40lbs with the covers. These 55's have body contours, so they are lighter, and in my opinion, more comfortable then the earlier slab styles. [s]It had flats on it but now has roundwounds. I can reinstall the flats if you prefer, the sound with flats was amazing to my ears, but then I am biased towards them. [/s]EDIT: I've put the flats back on, just sounds sooo good!!! This bass seriously fills up the room, the sound is so full, yet every note has presence and punch. These old style P Basses with the ash body and maple fingerboard combination really do make for a big big sound that's perfect for filling up space with warmth and depth, I love them and am lucky enough to have another 1955 Custom Shop Precision which I am keeping. I have no doubt that this one sounds much better than my Ltd Ed one I am keeping, and that's worth at least a grand more. I'm keeping the Ltd Ed though as it is super light at 7.5lbs, that's very rare indeed for a Fender. I'm based in Harrow, postage is also an option. Cheers! Meant to say £40 posted. Price includes first class signed for post. I bought this pickup a while back to put into my 1966 Precision as I wanted something hotter and more punchy, like my JV Precision. This is a great pickup, so good that it was too close to my original 1963 Fender pickup I had been using. I had to try other pickups to find that slightly different sound I was looking for, which ended up being a Bare Knuckle 58 Precision pickup. Makes sense really, as the later 50's pickups are different to the 60's, which the SPB-2 is modeled on and the JV is based on a 57 P Bass, doh!!!! So these really do sound like what they say they do, a proper vintage 60's Fender pickup with a little bit more of everything and without sounding too modern. I've been keeping hold of it in case I ever got a cheaper P Bass to put it in, but I doubt that's going to happen so it's up for grabs. It's literally had less than one hour use, comes with the box, instructions and screws. The sunburst Fender sprayed from 1966 and used up to 1968 has a more yellow effect than usual. You're certainly right about the differences too.

I keep listing this and then withdrawing it, it's getting a bit silly really. I had a firm offer come through recently and I just couldn't go through with the deal as this is a great bass, (even though I'm more into ash bodies with maple boards - which is why I'm using my CS 55 P Bass). Anyway, reality has come back to me and I need to get some cash back. It really is for sale now, no turning back. This is a 1966 Precision that has a neck and vintage sound to die for! It's light weight at a sweet 8.38lbs and has a very vintage, soulful tone with lots of clarity. It has a Brazilian fingerboard which makes it feel more Pre CBS and just like my old 63 and 64 P Basses. Fender completed the change from Indian to Brazillian rosewood in 1966 so these are rarer. It has it's original hard case and a 1963 Fender Precision pickup, plus one changed screw in a tuner gear. The pickup was rewound by The Bass Doc, he did an incredible job and used the correct colour winding whilst also spraying the pickup with lacquer to make it period correct, it would fool most as appearing all original though has newer cloth wires and is missing the brass plate. I bought the '63 pickup especially for this bass. Fender used old stock black bottom pickups until around 1967 so this one isn't at all out of place on this bass, especially as it has the Brazilian fingerboard which is also a more common pre CBS feature.
