**ON Hold** USA Music Man Short Scale StingRay - *SOLD*

I’ve just left my this week job due to health reasons, and need to sell a bass as I’ve not yet got another job lined up. I listed my Lull P Bass recently, but couldn’t go through with the sale - so I am now listing this, despite it being my most played bass this year, purely because my other basses are more irreplaceable to me. - USA EBMM Short Scale StingRay. - Weighs a lovely 7.5lbs. - Ash body, roasted maple fingerboard. - Neodymium pickup, passive, push/push volume boost, parallel/single/series switch, and tone pot. - Comes with original hard case & key. - Comes with case candy and original bar code sticker that usually goes on the rear of the body. - No dings, just some marks behind the bridge where stings have been changed and the ball end has hit the body, and very minor and hardly noticeable marks described below, and pictured. Disclosure - Although the bass is all original, I previously swapped out (and now replaced back) the pickup because I prefer Alnico pickups, that meant I needed to switch out the pots too as the values were wrong for Alnico, and more suited to Neodynium pickups, plus I wanted to be able to bypass all the pots completely. I’ve photographed some minor scratches, only visible when the light bounces off the body, which are likely to have come from when I was tinkering with the electronics. Will probably T Cut out, but I can’t find my bottle. No offers please (EBMM prices are now mental, and not going down),. No trades please.

Sadly there’s a good chance I may need to sell this bass due to a change in my personal circumstances, I’m gutted to have to let a bass go, but this one was the ‘last one in’ and my others are more sentimental. Thought I’d put the word out here before doing an advert (I’m a supporting member so I hope that’s ok). Just PM please if interested. EDIT - advert now up in classifieds.

I’ve used these guys a few times, https://www.pickguardplanet.com they used to make the 90s matte MusicMan pickguards. Cost me about £40-50 inc. duty, depending on shape, they’ll give you a quote. Probably not the cheapest, but I really wanted that material.

This is a feeler purely because I quit my job this week due to health reasons and have nothing lined up yet, so I’m thinking about having to sell this and thought I’d see if there is any interest? Trades and offers are a definite no, please don’t give it a try, thanks. Made in 2015, for the NAMM show according to the neck pocket. Nut width is like a Jazz Bass. Stunning fingerboard. Retrofitted Lindy Fralin P-Bass pickup and original Nordstrand Dual Coil Bridge pickup. When the Dual Coil is slightly blended in a bit there’s some real magic that happens with the P bass tone, tightened up but still very P bass. Nice and light, bang on 8lbs IIRC. Perfect balance, no neck dive. Has some marks/dings to the body. Nothing nasty. The back of the neck had a ding which I sanded out, this has taken away a bit of the wood stain. There is also a tiny bump inwards now, but can’t be felt when played - I’ll post a photo soon. Also a little ding was sanded out by the 4th fret. Current pickguard in the photos is a matte black one I had made, I may keep this, but I have an original black one made by Lull to include. Comes with original Lull branded bag/case and certificate. I sold this once before when I briefly got back my old 66 P Bass, was so pleased to get it back. Here we go again…

Cheers pal, that’s your old preamp in there 👍 As much as I prefer the John East preamp in my ‘95, this works great on the shorty, and even better now the pickup can bypass the pots as it’s got some growl back when going through the preamp. Dead simple to put together, just needed an input jack, a switch wired like an active/passive one, and a battery clip converter for a 9v PSU. The plastic box and and Ernie Ball sticker are optional…

Posting this mod I did on my EBMM short scale in case anyone is interested. - swapped out the neodymium pickup for an Aguilar AG4M (which I modded to coil split). The new MM neodymium pickups are excellent, but I just can’t get on with them and had the same issue on the Ray Special I owned for a few years. I have an AG4M in my ‘95 Ray so it’s nice to keep them in sync. - added a 3 way switch to keep the series/parallel/single option. - changed the pots to 250k and added a push/pull volume, to send the pickup straight to the output jack. This is because I turned an old EBMM 2 band preamp into a pedal and wanted to bypass the pots in the bass. There’s a photo of my first attempt of the pedal, think I’ll smarten it up in the summer with a better box too. Really love this little bass, and I’m glad the tone is now more in keeping with what I like. It’s got TI’s on it, and really compliments my ‘95 Ray and Old Smoothie. Wish they made these 25 years ago!

I removed the pickup in my shorty, which is also a neodymium. That’s glued down.

I posted a wanted advert, Mark replied and sold me a pickup. Super smooth deal and fast post, really pleased. Cheers Mark.

1974 Telecaster Bass-thoughts?
Chiliwailer replied to yorks5stringer's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
You’re right that nitro finishes were phased out from ‘68. The seller says ist came from Seattle, so if it’s Emerald City Guitars he probably payed a fair bit over the odds, though their gear is usually pretty tasty. -
Good places to trade a high end 6 string guitar for a bass
Chiliwailer replied to wintoid's topic in General Discussion
+1 @wintoidit’s a very good forum, free to list a guitar, and you’ve got a cool Nocaster there. GLWTS -
I’m in for sure. Shouldn’t be too hard as I just bought a bass on Xmas Eve that was unexpected, but one that had been very keen on getting for some time. My other 3 are keepers, and having 4 is already maxing me out for space. So, yeah, fingers crossed I can abstain. Also aiming to be more on the outernet than internet next year, so being off BC will be a huge help 😂

Enjoying the ride is all the justification you need 👍

I think that’s about right.

In - ‘95 Music Man Stingray (a cherished bass I finally got back 😊) Out - Bravewood Jazz Bass, Music Man Stingray Special. A good year I think

My 95 Ray has a very sensitive neck that needs adjustments quite regularly. It’s been like that for years, but never really bothered me. Other basses of mine, including MM, have never needed anywhere near as much adjustment as this one. Some folk say the Birdseye maple Rays are less stable, but I’ve seen that some are stable and fine so it could just be hit miss on them.
