  1. On ‘very little money’, this’ll give an amplifier simulation - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194230366182?epid=1165245397&hash=item2d39082fe6:g:lnEAAOSww01g5HAC edit - just saw the above 👍
  2. Funny you say that, the other bunny once took a nibble from a CS 55 P Bass relic and it looked pretty good 👍
  3. Nice thread. I had a Rockwood By Hohner LX100B, p/x’d for an SB Aria when I worked at Andy’s as a kid, the SB was twice the size of me. The Rockwood came back in a year later... wasn’t tempted though!
  4. Man, that’s exactly what I tell myself everytime too with a JB 😂 Looks awesome 👍
  5. Best (or worst!!!) way to describe it is how the note breathes, resonates, and sustains. He’s a multi gold record winning producer, we got a great bass tone so I tried an A/B with my own bass and it helped get that tone. I’m not a high action player, but have since done the odd action raising tweak when needed, and I do notice a difference when my action is too low.
  6. update - withdrawn and now on loan to a mate. With MM prices rising so steeply I think I’ll keep hold. Bought new by me in Sept 2018 when the Specials landed in the UK. Much loved but now not used since I managed to buy back my beloved and sentimental old faithful ‘95 Ray, after selling it during a rough time. This is 1 of 2 basses I’m selling as I trim the herd. Has a neck to die for, is roasted maple and has a great shape. The tones are plentiful with the HH and the new revoiced EQ which is incredibly versatile and useable across the full sweeps. This is far and beyond the most ergonomic Ray they have released, very comfy to hold. Good condition, well looked after, and just minor signs of use over 3 years - nothing nasty. The case has marks on the front from tight storage. Weighs 8.64lbs (3.92kg).. Some of these go up to 9.5lbs or more, so this one is a good weight for a HH Special. Back in 2018 the bodies were listed as swamp ash, now it’s just ambiguously stated as ‘select hardwood’.... TRADES - I’d much prefer a sale as I can’t think of another bass I need right now. Though feel free to get in touch with bass plus cash offer as I might accept if it’s something I can sell on and enjoy for a bit while keeping hold of. Sorry, I’m not wanting to trade by post. Collection always preferred, but PM to discuss shipping please. My feedback -
  7. Well I talked about ‘benefits’, not absolutes… IMO, YMMV, etc etc 🙄
  8. When I was about 19 or 20 a Producer had an early 50s P Bass in the studio. After a play I asked if I could set it up as the stings were high and the rod loose - he went on to give me a firm but fair education about the benefits of a higher action to the tone. Never forgot that, and he was right.
  9. Great weight, looks killer too 👍
  10. If it’s about ergonomics, the Stingray Special sits very differently, much more comfortable IMO.
  11. It’s not a sofa, it’s a settee…
  12. Yeah, is a bit silly tbh 😬 It’s a Jazz Bass thing. Still, it’s equally likely I’ll just keep it as it’s hard to fault - it’s been in the wardrobe for a while now so will feel like an NBD if I change my mind 😁
  13. This might help, looks same to me, but I’m no writing expert tbh - more hit and hope 😂
  14. I think the white goes where the tone cap is, on the pot on the right. The black goes to ground. Not a common wiring though, I think.
  15. Cool looking StingRay Dave. Sorry to read about your hand - good luck with the sales 👍
  16. Exchange rate? Price may be going back down now, £2657 for me this morning. 11 left. Wondering if you may just score a late winner. I’ve emailed Big Poppa asking if he fancies p/x’ing my Jazz... 😁
