SOLD - Modulus Flea FB4, made in 2000. Aguilar OBP1 and Bartolini pickup. Also comes with the original Bartolini preamp - the Aguilar does the Flea sound so much better so is a great upgrade In used condition, has some dings, but looks great. One small ding is pictured by the fret marker - though can’t be felt when played. The body has the very common lacquer cracks by the neck, but hasn’t gone through to the wood of course Bass has no issues, sounds incredible. Does the FB4 sound like nothing else can. Has the original case. Postage possible, please PM. No trades - only selling now due to cash flow. Cheers.

I got mine when they landed here in 2018, so much what I’m about to say is about the early ones, so I’m unsure about the current state of play. The saddles can be a pain in the proverbial, I’ve experienced and seen that the grub screws sometime slip. But I was sent replacements free of charge. Some people also found some grub screws too short, and again were sent free replacements. Lastly, I see on TB that quiet a few in the States needed a Plek to get a low action. All said, great basses if you like that kind of thing and fancy the different flavour of this version.

£30 I bought this new, just to put under a couch that our rabbits were exploring, so it’s never been used. It was B-stock when I got it, so has a couple of cracks in the plastic (pictured) - though being in the corner it’s still structurally strong. Keys are present. Socially distanced collection only please 👍

Nice to see On The Beach and Tonight’s The Night ranked so highly (but then that’s offset by other rankings like Time Fades Away for example), I love those albums and I’m a huge NY fan, but I’m not a fan of judgment lists so have no idea what I’d rank and where - plus that’d change weekly no doubt 😬

I did some guitar tech work on that show, and spent many a night sitting behind him - which meant I could hear his fantastic playing, but not actually see him play 🙄

Cheers bro - victim of my own greed! I now own a Modulus FB4 again, and couldn’t resist buying back my Old Smoothie Ray last week, which has sentimental value. So the Special is the one that can’t be justified due to having the others... which is odd because I started 2019 with the Special as my only bass, and was very happy. GAS eh?!!

Stunning - that was my fave combo too back in the day, and still looks amazing.

Was chuffed not to buy a bass in 2019, and ended the year very happy with just my StingRay Special HH. I thought 2020 would be the same. But actually 2020 was the year of correcting mistakes... I was seriously lucky to be able to buy back my Lull PJ4 and my Old Smoothie StingRay. The Lull was stupidly sold due to getting back a 66P i once owned (and then sold again) and the Smoothie as we really needed the cash in a minor crisis - that bass has sentimental value too so I’m really pleased i just got it back today. I also corrected the mistake of selling my Modulus Flea by getting another, and got a Bravewood Jazz. Definitely joining the 2021 abstinence thread with high hopes and financial motivation 😚

Really pleased to have bought back a bass I regretted selling to Mark - always a pleasure messaging and dealing with him. Cheers Mark 👍

Stingray set-up: Do I adjust truss-rod or saddles first?

I’m an old dog Chris - I always start with the rod so I know where I’m at 🤣 -

Perhaps only in extreme cases where the rod is too tight. At least with the rod set, you’ll know if you need to shim the neck - though that can be fairly obvious anyway... -

Lol, unlike both above I do truss, saddle and then nut. Doing the truss first stops you having to readjust the saddles. The nut last means you can have a second way to gauge how much you need to file (by pushing down the string at the 1st fret and seeing the ‘drop’ of the string). Each to their own of course 😃
