I’ve gone for a blue theme in my hallway

Medium gauge for long scale bass 50-70-85-105 Love these strings, but have gone back to my usual lighter gauge of Chromes. These had been on my Mike Lull Precision since end of February (until last week) and just used at home. They are slightly played in and in great condition. The Lull has hipshot tuners will a smaller string post than standard Fender style (see my avatar photo). Price includes postage. Cheers

That’s a lovely bass, good score. I have a HH Special as well, after being a MM fan and player for many years. Really happy with mine, I find use with all 5 pickup positions and the new EQ is amazing. Each to their own, but I reckon if you like it you’ll love it 👍

Why are there so few Musicman Sterlings?
Chiliwailer replied to BassApprentice's topic in Bass Guitars
Looks like the Sterling is one of Flea’s couch basses -
And another easy going and friendly deal with Paul. Cheers pal 👍

Wow, sold before the advert was even approved.... just from the title being seen Love these strings. I had them on my (now sold) Spirit bass, which I used on odd occasions when I needed to stay in hotels. They are in great condition, a little bit played in but not much more then that. £75 at Strings Direct. https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/strings-c1/string-sets-c865/bass-guitar-c34/la-bella-s500l-double-ball-end-flatwound-bass-strings-43-104-stainless-steel-p13529 Price included postage.

IIRC it’s a tribute to where a pal of the shop fell over while leathered.

Right you are, I was working there at the time - the flaky paint was putting people off. Plus they do always price on the, erm, higher side...

Does that mean we’re dating? 🤣

Fender P 1973 pick up repair recommendation
Chiliwailer replied to BMBR's topic in Repairs and Technical
That foam can be a real pain in the butt when that happens. I’d personally chat to Clive Brown first, he’d either do it or signpost you. Clive is a world renowned vintage head, who does simply the best restorations. guitarart@btinternet .com. -
Great interview 👍 Here’s a pic of his 64 P Bass when I played it in 2009 - sadly paint would flake off if you just looked at it, but it was stunning to play and hear, so is now in the right hands for sure.

No hard and fast rules with Fender, but read the text under the red Jazz Bass in this link http://www.guitarhq.com/fenderc.html Sure you’re aware, Fender factory was inconsistent, plus often used old stock. And of course, looking for those other clues too of a respray

Do love a Sherwood Green, this is supposed to be a 61.

Bought in 2015 and was my go to until I stupidly sold it in 2017 to pay bills after I maxed myself to buy back a special vintage Fender (wrong move). I was lucky to buy it back and was expecting my Stingray Special HH to remain my #1, but it’s this one that gets played everyday. Sometimes don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone

The most beautiful basses you've ever seen?
Chiliwailer replied to Lunatique's topic in Bass Guitars
A well loved 1960 P Bass would be top of my list, as a thing of beauty, to have owned from new to reliced, @hiram.k.hackenbacker knows all about this other beauty which is even more stunning in the flesh. -

Sims haven’t gone into partnership with Cort have they?

I’ve had Fender flats on my acoustic bass since 2006, love them. Maybe not as loud acoustically, but the natural tone suits me better. I cringed everytime I tried bronze strings since.

Isn’t karma a bit-ch? Sims lower their dignity with a cheap trick and the BC folk tell it how it is. Gotta laugh 😂

Does anyone make Deluxe Jazz pickguards?
Chiliwailer replied to Brother Jones's topic in Bass Guitars
WD might have the one you need https://www.wdmusic.co.uk/pickguards-c62/fender-basses-c111/jazz-bass-american-deluxe-4-string-22-fret-c117 If not, I’ve found recently that most of the recommended custom pickguard makers are charging crazy money. I got in touch with Bass Doc and his prices are far more fair. You may need to send the existing one as a template, though you never know, he may already have one for those smaller style ones. PM if you need his details. -
“If you love them, let them go” - she’s much better off getting good use in your hands!
