  1. This is a brand new toolkit, unused because I already have a similar one. I wanted to keep this as a spare, but at £40 odd for a set of flatwounds I think I'll pass it on to go towards getting some Price includes postage.
  2. £15 delivered This is a brand new cable, a couple of months old, unused and kept in the packaging. I wanted to keep this as a spare, but at £40 odd for a set of flatwounds I think I'll pass it on to go towards getting some Price includes postage.
  3. Oh gosh, please don’t tempt me, the Old Smoothie’s are outstanding! ...but then so are the Classics, 2 bands, 3 bands etc. Music Man are a wonderfully consistent, quality company. Not to put you off the Classic, as they are great, but I’d strongly recommend you also play a new 2018 Stingray Special before you purchase. I’ve had MM’s for 22 years and my HH Special has absolutely blown me away. But it’s s very different animal to the Classic, Smoothie and older Rays, so it’ll be your call.
  4. Looks to me like a bridge pickup from an old Gibson EB3 copy. Nice mojo btw
  5. Sure, the context of my post was that it was meant to be a portrayal of Feddys life, but the film took a turn and moved away from that. The consensus on the set was that the film was watered down. Personally, I’m not convinced its ok to spill the beans on someone’s life if they haven’t said it’s ok, so either way I don’t have an opinion.
  6. BBC iPlayer is currently showing a documentary on the News of the World album/tour, I enjoyed it.
  7. My friend worked on it and said that Sasha Baron Cohen left the project because the script was changed to leave out all the ‘finer details’ and to not offend Freddies family, so they went for a more bubble gum friendly film, leaving out the raw details. Sure it’ll still be fun to watch though.
  8. Gutted for you, totally understand your frustration. Repairs often toughen a guitar more than before, hopefully Jon will sort you out, you’ll get confident with it again, and then have a gigging Bass that’s not so precious. Think of all those Gibsons, especially pre 1964, with headstock repairs, they’ll certainly outlive us! I know it’s a different type of repair, but same principle if it can be fixed. Good luck. 👍
  9. ...actually, having thought about it... the new hardware takes about 1lb off doesn’t it? Maybe it’s the same wood as before and Sterling is telling porkies? 🤣
  10. I’ve heard of a few similar Specials on TB, and saw some when I was at Andertons weighing them, including a single H. Others were around 8.3lbs if I remember right? My old Ray was a similar weight, I wonder if they are using up old stock? At least it ain’t a killer weight , and no doubt it’s nice and resonant too.
  11. I agree with above, sounds like a MM to me, probably the Sterling in the Series position - loved that position when I had a Sterling years back.
  12. Cheers Tom for an easy, friendly and smooth sale. Highly recommended folks. Enjoy the bass
  13. You know the market is slow when a £2.5k Pino hangs around...
  14. You're confusing that with the Bongo, they are in the same place on a StingRay Lovely bass btw!
  15. Sorry for your loss, good luck with the sale (and snide remarks too).
  16. Had mine 5 weeks now and also well pleased. I played my 2015 Stingray for quite a while this afternoon, they may be 'obsolete' now, but in no way does that take off the gleam or spoil their legacy, they'll always be such fine basses IMO (and Mr Sadowski too )
  17. Hi, the spec says 41.3mm https://www.music-man.com/instruments/basses/stingray
  18. Absolutely mate, thanks. In addition, I’ve been watching a Talkbass thread on these basses whereby Scott Ball has been posting and replying to members. Music Man was my first love, then Fender, these days I have both, but I feel more respect for Music Man as a company, I think it goes deeper than good PR, they seem to really get it, by making great instruments with enthusiasm.
  19. No thanks, I didn’t like the taste and it repeated on me
  20. Back when I was a teen I saw the Flea DVD, he said that on some days he has a ‘head like a stale marshmallow’. Since then, I don’t feel bad when it happens.
