Yeah. Strings and preorders seem cool. But the "if I find a xxx bass" make me chuckle, though im knocking it, temptation will always be out there, so for some why not eh? . But... If my first Stingray, which was heavily modified and easy to spot, came up then it'd take a sh*t load of willpower not to get it...however I honestly don't think I would, phew!

So, who’s still in on this? Any last purchases to sneak in first?

Nah, I doubt there’s anything wrong with you! IMO the older Rays have that lovely raw tone and are still awesome basses. Ideally I would have kept my 2015 Ray as well, for that reason. Again IMO, too many shops don’t know how to, or can’t be bothered to, look at wether the truss rod needs setting. I wonder if that was the issue and it needed a tighten?

Can’t argue with that! If you’re interested in the CS bass, there’s a YouTube vid of a rig rundown with his tech and he shows them off. Might have been premier guitar that made it.

I think the CS has the LP legacy pickup. But also the wood quality, and importantly for me, the feel of the neck would most likely be different. Plus the CS is probably a 1/4 sawn neck. I know I’m being difficult about spec, but I just don’t get the logic from Fender there. Surely Mex and CS would have been an option?

I don’t get this bass. Flea uses a CS version, not regular US, and as rightly mentioned it alienates so many fans by its price point. So why go US made? At least the Modulus WAS what he used at the time.

I was reading on TB that the Caprice and Cutless are discontinued, that’s a great shame. Loving the look of your blue one.

I’ve got an HH Special and an original 66 P Bass, like you the Sprcial has won me over and the 66P is rarely played much now (but still much loved). I’ll aim to keep it, but reality says when the wife and I move house, or if I leave my job and have to pay back money towards my Masters, it’ll need to be sold - I’m convinced I wouldn’t be able to justify another P, the Special is just too good and so versatile.

I think these have been discontinued. Last set two sets I got had to be sent back because they were bloody awful, and not as good as previous sets. Either they were fake or factory seconds.

That sounds awesome, especially loving the tone when you slid up to the dusty end, but all the way through it sounded so sweet, and with no ‘aggression’ at all in that Ray tone. You might be right mate about the price of mine, I may change it back soon and sit tight. I won’t need the bulk of the cash until March now. I’ll give it a week and have a think. Cheers pal

100% Warren, I certainly do agree it’s very different to all the other Rays I’ve played. The strings going through the pole pieces rather than over them gives such a different flavour, and the different pre amp and EQ is spot on. Genuinely gutted to sell it. I remembered seeing your Smoothie and you sounding great on a CTB video but I couldn’t find the link, I wanted to share it with @wayne58 when he was asking me about the Smoothie. Im mystified too that it hasn’t sold 🤔
