Selling off my electric guitar gear after a huge GAS spree following some good financial fortune. I bought this in March 2015 and still have the original receipt. it's only ever been used in my flat so the volume has never gone past 2! Comes with the cover and footswitch. Amazing condition, sounds lovely and warm with a gorgeous spring reverb and tremolo. Has a Celestion speaker. Gutted to see this go but it's all bass, bass, bass again these days [/
I spy a rex! Is she house trained? Nice geetaw too.
Yup, a Mini Rex though she's a tad bigger then your average one and our other Mini Rex is a tad a smaller than your average one so they make quite a pair. They are pretty much house trained, but need supervision otherwise their cheeky sides come out. I'm sure they'd relic an NOS guitar quite well....
Whoa what an amazing guitar. My bro had a blonde one of these a few years back and it was stunning to play. The big neck certainly translated to some massive sustain and tone. Completely off the point - but that's an extraordinary looking rabbit you've got there too! Is it like a professional model rabbit or something? Wow.
Right you are pal, those necks definitely add to the tone in a great way, I had a 55 P Bass with a huge neck and the sound was mighty too. Jodie appreciated the comments She's a Mini Rex and has one heck of a personality!

Now £1600 OVNO Made in 2008 this is a killer Nocaster, it sounds as solid as it feels. It's a 2008 model with upgraded Callaham compensated saddles (which intonate perfectly as opposed to the originals) and screwed in vintage style jack socket which solves the issues of the originals coming loose whilst also allowing use of right angles jacks which the originals don't allow. It has Nocaster pickups, 9.50 radius and a modern C neck shape according to the Custom Shop shop floor traveller - but it is a beautifully chunky neck in true Nocaster fashion so all you skinny neck dudes better move along now! Weighs a very comfy 7.44 lbs Comes with original case, certificate and hang tag. Also comes with original jack socket. The original saddles had rusted screws stuck in them beyond repair (nice one custom shop...) but they are included in the sale, though obviously not working as they should. I'm selling this as I need some cash back, but trades may be possible for the right bass. I'm GAS free at the moment so it'll have to only be one I'm comfortable selling on. No trades by post please. All angles covered Nick, but no doubt there'll be a forth at some point! I'm stuck at two Lull's, amazing basses and I couldn't be happier too.
Fair enough... I appreciate everyone's priorities are different. I've had a few back issues, but more related to arthritis in my hip... luckily not for a while now. Guess I'm too stubborn to go light...
Some of best sounding. basses I've owned have been 'heavy' (it's all subjectively relative weight wise isn't it?), so there's nowt wrong with your stubbornness if you're enjoying them!
It's not accurate It's not a criticism, it's a query, as it's just a bit surprising and a subject i've never come across.......
Just count yourself very lucky that you're not a chronic pain sufferer, because if you were this'd all make sense to you. I'm a little astounded that you don't get most people either need to look after their back or want to do the best they can to prevent issues. But, my smiley was genuine because we all think differently, so this isn't a dig at you, simply an honest reply with no prejudice.

That looks almost identical to one of the two that I use to own, except mine had a tort plate. They are great basses, the ceramic pickup sounds 'harder' to me than a regular alnico stingray one, that's no bad thing at all as they have their own character. The three way switch is useful,, the single coil option is noiseless and sounds very clear and the series option gives a good whack when playing loud, the parallel is typical Music Man. The 3 band eq is also very useful. Though they are small, some of the ash body ones can be heavy, which is why I sold mine years back, but if you don't mind that it's well worth a play and is great value for money second hand, though you can get them for less that the £899 at Mansons.

How about a second hand Sunburst Music Man Sterling? (Not the new cheaper ones, but the USA one with the smaller body and thinner neck).

Is a '63 Precision worth at least twice as much as a '73 ?
Yes. Next question please?
Er, that'd be 'why'. -
Re-phrasing my original question, who here has paid loads more for their 60s than for their 70s P, and specifically why?
I had 70's basses at the time I moved into Pre CBS. The reasons were: I) it suited me (vibe, feel, sound, look) and my band (style) II) i wanted the supposed 'best possible' vintage era Fender III) i thought they were cool bits of history IV) I needed to get it out of my system Now it's well and truly out of my system, and my current P's are perfect for me and have a great value for money return despite being around £2k each. So it's never again unless I've got huge expendable income to throw around for the fun of it. Like that'll happen I guess I'm mostly interested in this thread because the prices are wild now, so you need a damn good reason to get one if it's a lot of money to you. -

The answer is no they aren't worth twice the price in my honest opinion, and I've owned a great deal of pre CBS and 70's Fenders. But that doesn't mean I'm right.... The pre 1968 Fender basses have a feel and vibe all of their own, which is lovely when you get a good one and very meh when you get an average one, and there's a fair few of those. But, that kind of vibe is difficult to replicate so they have a certain uniqueness which has huge appeal. But I don't think that makes them better, just different, which leads you to price... Which are now are insane for pre CBS and many later ones, so basically the value for money as a players bass has totally gone. If you get an all original one then at least you have a 'collectable' that'll hold value for being original. Getting a non original one is an entirely different story and will only make sense if you really want that old school vibe. Theres no reason not get a refinished one if you can afford it, want the vibe and want it as a players bass, just remember these days you really are paying for the privilege of playing some very cool rock n roll history. This is just my opinion and all that, many will argue it and I wouldn't blame them -
NBD: Mike Lull PT4 P Bass with T'Bird pickups
Correct. Badly worded on my part and now edited
Apparently reversed engineered from a set of 1964 Thunderbird pickups.
