1. I noticed that had disappeared off the Bass Direct website, good work Nick! Those pickups always sound lovely when I hear them on sound clips. Very cool bass, absolutely love my Lull's
 2. I like the modern touches on these basses, and also the way the logo tips the hat to the guys back in the day that used to swap necks and end up with a Jazz Bass logo neck on a P Bass body. This isn't a bass for someone precious about a logo, but for someone adventurous and wanting something different this'd be a great bass

 7. 2001 edition. Used, not abused but not new of course. Pretty rare book. I can't find out much about these price wise, only other one on eBay is £35 (USA one, not the one I just listed!) and on Amazon they are £39. Cool book for Boss fans and collectors. £30 posted. 10.
Cheers Al. I thought it would get snapped up fairly quickly but no worries
Is there a worse time than summer to sell? GLWTS, cracking basses
 11. Now £130 This pedal is so good, but due to having built in tremolo on my new Princeton and not using a pedalboard anymore this isn't getting used. Gutted as it's the best trem pedal I've ever used These have 3 types of Tremolo wave length options set via a 3 way switch, 2 speed settings with their own independent speed control that are switched by a foot switch, the 3rd footswitch gives you a very cool and cutting trem that acts like a kill switch being used, think RATM, but very usable. The tone on these is perfectly warm and vintage styled yet as clear as a bell. It has a volume control which is essential as many trem pedals suffer from volume drop. Finally, you can add 2 expression pedals to change trem speed or depth on the fly, sounds so good! It's in perfect working order, Velcro on bottom and is simply delicious! Check out YouTube etc, incredible and versatile pedal It's in perfect working order, Velcro on bottom and is simply delicious! 12. £65 inc postage, An excellent pedal for guitar or bass, it's essentialy a volume boost but is actually quite versatile. I first used this on bass to switch between active and passive basses to match the output level, then when I didn't need to do that anymore I used it on my old guitar amp for some lovely sparkle as the amp was quite average. That was a nice bonus but these are really boost pedals that can give you more gain for solos, slapping, tapping etc, help when switching guitars with varied output levels or to drive valve amps when needed (did you hear that Ampeg users? ) The addition of the tone controls for the Custom Shop version is perfect, very sensitive and usable EQ. Works great, has some Velcro on the bottom. Cheers! 13.
So I've just bought this Yamaha 415 5 string bass and I'd like to know when it was made but i cant find anything that could help me. The serial number is QLL279062.
Have you checked http://www.yamaha.com/yamahaguitars/ElectricandBassGuitarSerialNumberSystems.pdf
 14.
Gorgeous. GLWTS .
Cheers brother She sure is gorgeous. I wasn't looking for a new acoustic but I went along to Denmark Street with a mate of mine that was out shopping for a Martin, out of all the ones we played that day this one stood out a mile for my preferences, I was hit with huge GAS and couldn't resist. Gutted to be letting it go, long standing body issues leave me no choice though, such is life....
 15. £1550, no offers please. I have a gorgeous Jeff Tweedy model in 'as new' condition, with case and candy etc. These are all mahogany and have a slightly deeper than normal 00 size body, making them sound great. The nut is nice and wide making this perfect for finger picking, it's a guitar that has a very warm, crisp, full and well balanced tone. Sadly due to a shoulder injury it's getting harder to play and I always reach for my old Parlour guitar. 16. I sold Ralph an amp today after some friendly communication. Clearly a really nice guy and it was a pleasure to meet him. Cheers
 17. The only bass I ever really regretted selling was a brown 78 Sabre I very much doubt that I could justify buying this, but just out of interest do you know the weight of this one? Thanks
 18. Easier when you know what you're looking for I haven't played one in years, I remember being quite a snob when I did play it though so I wouldn't trust my then opinion. Strangely, this one doesn't have mutes on the bridge though like the other EX's.
 19. Because it's a Japanese EX series, you can tell by the logo, where the n meets the g Further info here.. http://www.musicmanbass.org/mycustompage0008.htm
 20.
You have better eyesight than me, I can't see any thumbrest screws! But you're right, if the thumbrest is on the bass side it's 73 and after, which I believe is the year when the thumbrest (or tugbar as was), moved from the treble side.
w iPad zoom in, saves my tired eyes many a time
 21.
I can't comment on the green/black thing, but is a black scratchplate likely to be original on ANY '69 Precision? On a natural finish, maybe? Not casting aspersions, just interested to find out.

Dunno, any 60s Precision gurus on here? The website description does mention a new tone pot and pickup.

I don't know when black pickguards first became available but I belive 1960s custom colours commonly had white pickguards.
Black guards were phased in by 1975. It's hard to see in the picture, but the thumbrest screws may be above the E string, either way in 69 they should be below the G string. That ain't the original guard. I'd be very surprised if that finish was original, 69's I've seen have white undercoats and that colour doesn't look like a Fender colour anyway, even a lacquer aged one. The weight seems correct for that era though, that's good. I'm no expert, just going by what I've seen.
 22. Wow, can't believe that you put this one up for sale mate. I know this bass well as I sold it to Jo, after it came to me on a p/x from a guy who was reverting back to P Basses. Simply put, it's a stunner and just as good as Jo says, not one aspect to fault at all in my opinion and fairly decent experience of Cistom Shops. The Custom Shop can sometimes produce basses that are purely average, this one is top notch. GLWTS Jo, someone is going to get a killer Jazz Bass.
