1. That's a great mod. Just a friendly heads up, be careful that it doesn't leave an impression in the pickguard, these old ones can mark from pressure, you may already see that where the pickup cover and original thumbrest go.
2. I last sold these in 2006 and the head looked just like on the website... http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=115&category_id=6&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=31 I wouldn't trust a 'sue happy' guy.
3. As well as this being a very cool bass, it's always so much fun to have a vintage Fender bass in this condition. Opening that case....
4. That'd be my Ozark acoustic. Had it since i was 16, it's seen many a beach and the gig bag is great for having a nap on. Edit - acoustic bass of course...
5.
I will take it. PP?
Thanks Owen, I'll PM am you.
6.
So really, and only due to medical circumstances, I'm a 5/4. On a mission impossible.. Sorry😚
I totally get this mate. I was only saying earlier in a PM that I haven't clicked with any P Bass 100% since my old 1964 P bass was sold to go towards my flat deposit. Though it was not my favoured wood combo, it seriously worked for me, and not just because it was old, I've played plenty of average ones. Since then I've had a load of Precisons, some very lovely ones too, but none have clicked and mostly because of my medical issues and basses weight, size, or balance issues. Enter Mike Lull, my first was a second hand one and it showed me that there is a way forward for me and as I keep repeating my new one, now having my preferred woods, makes me a 5 in theory, though I'm safer saying a 4 because even though it's 8lbs and has perfect balance, I may need to commission a 7.5lbs bass too. I'm just lucky I could sell some great gear to get a Lull, amazing basses. I now have less basses, but better suited ones to me. Good luck with your mods
7.
Interesting points... I can see me revising the Price, downwards...
For fairness and balance, it looks like that was priced well for a quick sell. For example, others just like that one have sold on here for a few hundred quid more, just took a little, or not so little, longer to sell. The A neck will be a nice factor in the price. Edit. an A neck is a Jazz Bass nut width neck.
8.
Btw, it's been a LONG time since I've been on here, or really paid any attention to 'the market'... So constructive criticism re. the Price, would certainly be welcome
Looks like a great players bass with tons of Mojo and some cool features. Weight would be good. As would pictures of the pickup and pots as you're unsure. More pics, more buyer comfort. Price wise, forum prices and dealer prices differ most of the time. Vintage prices can differ wildly especially, as can 'players' vintage price as it's subjective to the seller and buyer. This might help you think a little deeper.. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/258055-1975-fender-precision-bass-sold-pending/page__p__2722395__hl__1975%20precision__fromsearch__1#entry2722395 I won't comment on price, purely because I'm not selling it and I'm not in need of it. Good luck with the sale, sure someone will love it.
9.
any pics?
Now added.
10.
any pics?
Doh, the thread did have them way back but I forgot that I erased them all!!! Pics to follow shortly. Thanks.
11. Will take the MXR preamp if the other offer falls through
12. Go on mate, I'll give it a pop PM you after Sunday lunch, on the table and Mrs looking stern....
13. Seriously, you know it's worth every penny. EVERY PENNY P.s. Nice choice of colour
14. Congrats!!! I've had two Lulls, both are spectacular. My new one is by a country mile the best bass I've ever owned, it's the spec I love most and Mike has done a great job of making that spec perfect. b Met the man in September, his website says to pop in if you're in town. I was in Bellevue anyway so I knocked on the door and was greeted with a warm smile, hospitality and generosity. Top man, top basses. the JAX looks killer, looking forward to to pics!!!
15. I played this model in Coda once, fantastic tone and very solid. I've sold a bass to Russo and wish him luck with this sale.
16. Reminds me of a very funny time... There is a place in London called Covent Garden. We were headlining the Covent Garden Festival ( no really, they put one on) in a cute little yard called Neil's Yard, where Rough Trade used to be, the old buildings are full of character and were originally fruit warehouses for the Covent Garden fruit markets but have now been converted into shops and multi million pound offices and flats. So it's later on in the evening, summer month so still daylight, maybe 9pm, and the yard is jam packed full of people, great party atmosphere and we are having a really good gig. Then this guy in his late forties perhaps, wearing a nice suit, starts pushing through the crowd, no respect to people at all. We had two singers, both guitarists, one who is 6 foot 4 and one who is about 5 foot 5, obviously he went straight for the smaller guy (Pete) and grabbed the microphone shouting "who's in charge, who's in charge?!!" Our manager jumps in and directs him to the sound guy, he lived one of the flats, had just got home and was annoyed at the music ( didn't ever think we were that bad to be honest?!). Pete being the amazing joker that he is starts improvising the lyrics with some very cutting jokes about the guy who just stormed the stage, the crowd loved it, laughing and smiling right at him. The guy wondered off with his tail between his legs. The residents had so much warning about the gig, with the amount of people there too it was never going to be a bit of busking was it? No respect at all, but a funny story from a really enjoyable snd rememberable gig.
17. Looks like a a Guild Pilot to me
18.
I'm guessing number 4 is going to get a lot of votes.
Yup, GAS is a killer.... I'm wondering if numbers 2 or 5 will get a few votes? But as you say, 4 is most likely to us GAS slaves
19. I've just been reading CamdenRob's poll about how many basses you own. I noticed that a lot of us have quite a few, but that got me wondering how content people are with what they have, especially when they have a few. I like what I have, my basses evolve with me, but I never say never so I guess it's a 4 for me to start this off. Edit - scoring 1 - 5 isn't a hierarchy thing, just a reference point.
20. Just got my very first vol / pan after all these years and I instantly found it incredibly useful. I set the grub screw on the pan knob to the centre point so I can remember sweet spots easier. Why didn't I do it to my Jazz Basses all those years ago, must be a pretty simple mod. That's it for me now, volume & pan all the way, love it.
21. Just been thinking about my Jazz Bass roots, I started on a Mex Std, bought it purely as a practice bass as the tonal variety was so huge, different pickups and placement of hand could get me the tone I wanted quickly. I ended up upgrading it quite quickly as I was smitten. I still love recording with a Jazz, especially when in the mood to tweak with the tone after. Never did gig a Jazz Bass though, my old P Basses were too firmly established, I missed out on an experience there.
