  1. Enfield Super 8 pickup. Not sure this would have the coil switching and the coil spacing isn’t really right either
  2. I’ve looked at those many times before, still wouldn’t do the job of a stingray and precision because one set of coils will always be in the wrong place, unless you had two side by side and were able to cross wire the selected coils. I think sims did a quad coil type pickup on some earlier Enfield (Cannon ?) basses that may cover enough area to do the Sray/P thing. Ibanez ATK seems like that may have been designed to do this very task.
  3. And looking at some other comparisons even a triple coil wouldn’t exactly replicate as the coil positions are still millimetres out of alignment.
  4. So looking at all of these, and thank you to everyone that contributed, to get a Stringray and Precision in one you would really need a triple pickup with switchable coils. It’s Google time again
  5. Only because I saw it so recently, otherwise it would have disappeared into the void that is my memory along with what’s my age?, where did I put that? Etc I didn’t know that about Chaka Khan! Ain’t Nobody is on my all time greatest song lists. Well well, thanks for that nugget.
  6. Yes, recently saw this on a tv music channel. Never had a clue. Considerable talent, singing playing and dancing simultaneously. I can barely do any individually 😄
  7. And in true internet idiot style I’m answering my own post as today Google provides me with a plethora of such images…
  8. I’ve seen online a graphics showing different pickup positions of popular basses - jazz, precision, mm, ricks etc - overlayed onto a bass to show in relation to one another. Now I’m actually looking for such a thing I can’t find it. Anyone got a link or a copy they can share? thanks all

    Japan

Anyone shipped a bass to Japan with any advice or tips? Also if you’ve bought one from there and had it shipped over. ta!
  10. That is a tasty looking bass. The paler fretboard wood suits it too.
  11. This is very tempting. Great spec, almost ticks all of my boxes and I know how well made Alan’s instruments are.
  12. You’re too modest Andy I hear you’re not half bad yourself 😜
  13. If you want to buy I’ll play along 😄
  14. This is the product of discovering Basschat approximately 15 years ago! I had 2 basses prior to that and very happy we were together. Now there’s about 20, a double bass, a banjo and 3 or 4 bass bodies and necks cluttering up the place. I should be posterboy for a Public Service Announcement about G.A.S. Remember kids play less, buy more!
  15. I don’t believe they are all completely interchangeable but I could be wrong.
  16. Thanks for that Muzz. Interesting to hear the cost was lower than an off the shelf job. I may be able to challenge the long neck pocket with one of my old Warwick bolt ons 😄
  17. Hi Andy. Both points just to be awkward 😄
  18. She was helping me pack it 😄 To clarify, my Mrs, not yours 😂
  19. I haven’t played a gig in 25 years!
  20. The banana box is full of packs of strings 😄
  21. The car was already piled with boxes, unbelievably lucky to cram them all in considering I hadn’t worked out how much space I had to work with. Finished unloading 4am a long but happy day.
  22. Something not standard and not on any of all the usual suspects of ‘off the shelf’ neck suppliers unfortunately.
