Nothing at all on Fenders website regarding body dimensions.
A couple of phone calls later to Wunjo and Regent Sounds confirmed they are identical except for the neck pocket.
thanks all
I have been looking online at Fender and couldn’t see the dimension listed.
I did find an old post on a forum stating the dimensions and possibly CAD or some other technical drawings were on a Fender site but I couldn’t locate them.
Thanks for the replies. I should have been clearer in the original post.
I’m specifically looking at precisions that are standard copies, so the Dingwall (although I still kick myself for not buying a particular one some time ago before the prices shot up) wouldn’t qualify or other brands that have spilt coils but are a deviation on the original shape.
What I’m trying to find out is if the body dimensions are the same on a 5 string as a 4 string Precision.
Where would you recommend to buy a replacement neck off the shelf?
Anyone have any idea what a custom neck would cost to be built by a luthier? I know materials and spec will affect the cost, but for a standard kind of wood choice.
thanks
Really thinking about using a 4 string p bass body and adding a five string neck, obviously the pocket will require work.
Just checking things out at this point.
So a 4 string p bass and a 5 string p bass of the same brand /model.
Are the bodies of the same basses the same sizes or different?
I have 4 and 5 strings but not of the same bass so I can’t tell from my gear.
thanks.
I realise these are very expensive basses so they naturally have a reduced market but I thought people were gagging for Wals these days, what with the huge new price tag, enormous waiting list etc.
Surprised this is still here?
Have you had much interest / tyre kickers @bagsieblue
Same. One of, if not my favourite vocalist. Still upsets me hearing his voice. It could also be an age thing/ things I’ve experienced as I find music in general hits me more emotionally than when I was younger.
