Those were my thoughts as well, but, considering the cost it would have been a very expensive game of trial and error if it didn’t work out. I actually did a search and found the email from Martin Sims after posting here to see if there was more info. There wasn’t. Simply that it couldn’t be changed.

I asked Sims a while back about changing the coil positions used in the Superquad - although my question was about the jazz position and it wasn’t an option. I can’t recall if there was a reason or what it was. The other way to overcome it was to mount the pickup upside down - although the wiring exits from the wrong side but that wouldn’t work for a split coil layout.

And fingers crossed for a birthday nbd!

Surprised to read about bodies being made from Pine, quite a soft wood - half the hardness of alder or ash. Interested to see how they wear etc

Finally got some new strings for my Yamaha TRB 6ii. Trying these Pitbulls out. Got tired of looking for a set of Elixirs. Great service too. Ordered and delivered in less than 24 hrs, despite Royal Mail’s best attempts to not deliver even with Next Day Guaranteed service. Just have to get around to fitting them now...

Unless the 4 string jazz pickups are blade types and wide enough to cover the width of 5 strings I don’t see how 4 or 8 magnets in a typical 4 string J pickup would sense the 5 strings evenly or well at all? If you have the pickups and assuming the body wouldn’t need routing mods to fit, just try it and see how it works out.
