  1. It’s showing £1400 at the hammer
  2. Thanks for the info. is the xlr functional?
  3. So what is the string spacing ?? One post it’s 19, another 18.5 and another 17 or 17.5? Truss rod? Electronics?
  4. Hi Zom does this have a truss rod? Can you give some info on the pre amp and controls please. thanks
  5. I have a TRB 6ii , just a thought, were these pickups and electronics used in any other of the models? TRBX / RBX etc. The pickups each have a pot on the preamp board that takes the pickup from single coil mode to humbucker which although subtle is audible. The pre is active only, treble mid and bass pots, master volume and a balance pot, but I believe you can add a passive switch. The pickups look like the ones fitted in the pic posted above by Machines of the red RBX765.
  6. Hi are these genuine Elixirs? Would you have the packaging? I’ll have them please if they are legit and the coatings aren’t damaged. No offence intended, but there were some fake elixirs knocking around a while back. thanks
  7. The model is usually stamped on the head front or back, the ii models seem to have it on the back. The ii is a bolt on and as Andy mentioned don’t have the scallops - which aren’t the same as the slap cut on the JP models. as the slap cut . Although saying that there were several productions of them so there may be the odd anomaly. Helpful no? 😂 I think the original TRB 5 also had a split neck pickup whereas the later ii had soapbar shaped pickups. Bass direct have a TRB 5ii and a TRB 5P (piezo) in stock so you can see the differences https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Yamaha_TRB_5_II.html https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Yamaha_TRB_5P.html
  8. 💥 There goes the 2nd hand values again
  9. I’ve been watching Pino playing one of these the last few days. Seemed to be his jazz of choice for some time a while back.
  10. Yeah it’s a prose. I recognised the body shape from one I have. Was watching that on eBay. Congratulations!
  11. Great thread @funkle Enjoyed reading your updates and what effects minor changes and tweaks have on what appears to be a simple addition. Goes to show there’s a lot more than meets the eye even on a simple passive p bass. A reminder that custom instruments really are a bit of a shot in the dark!
  12. Is that Mitch??
  13. I know what you mean. Haven’t found or ever come across such a pickup, that senses across a large area. Maybe because you’d end up with an approximation of the sound, or the magnet would be so long it could cause string pull etc. There’s probably a very good reason for it?
  14. Then there’s the Atlansia Pegasus and some of their other “out there“ designs.
  15. @Jus Lukin Enfield Cannon? https://www.sims.guitars/enfield-guitars/cannon @KiOgon Warwick did something along those lines with Guy Pratt In action here Wood & Tronics do something similar with a single Jazz pickup under a wooden cover that slides to 4 preset positions.
  16. I can’t be the first to notice this isn’t his Musicman bass but the “whatever brand bass” from years back he used on some of the early recordings.
  17. I don’t know how true this is .... take it as you would if you overheard a conversation in a pub, I was on talkbass earlier and seem to recall reading someone mentioned that Aero made replacement TRB 6 replacement pickups. i guess it’s possible they do a drop in for a 5 string as well? Alternately and again for a 6 string TRB - which also don’t have a direct replacement available - someone had used an Emg standard size which left a gap at either end of the pickup but they had 3D printed some black “ears” to neatly fill the spaces.
  18. Either way it’s madness 😂
  19. That’s crossed my mind too, shortening the existing neck. Again would the headstock be able to be reattached ? I’ve just been reading through the build thread of your headless, awesome! I’m very interested to hear what the triple Sims pickup setup sounds like and if it’s worth the outlay? It’s something I’ve been mulling over recently and was amazed someone else had already done it!
  20. It wouldn’t need new body wings or a new body. Hypothetically the body would slide 2” along the existing neck through block and crudely put the excess overhang of the block would be chopped off. I get your point though it’s an awful lot of work.
  21. Sure that’s what I meant by refret, but to the shorter scale.... I’ll add filling the existing fret slots to the list of jobs
  22. I’ve also been thinking about this with a Streamer Stage 1 5 string as well. Have you measured the Nordstrands ? Are they a straight swap over?
  23. Often seen tape covering exposed poles to overcome the clicks.
  24. Ok so I’m sharing this idea in public and have fully prepared myself for the very likely abuse and mickey taking it probably deserves, but anyway it’s been a strange year so here goes .... Bearing in mind guitars that have suffered heavy damage and snapped head stocks can be repaired and often are stronger than they were before the damage. Realistically how possible would it be to shorten a neck? To go from 34” to 32” or less and retaining the original headstock? It’s also a neck through and not a bolt on neck. Obviously it would need a re fret and the side markers would be in the wrong positions. Could the neck be cut, shortened and the widths shaved down to match and rejoined? An alternate could be removing the body “wings” from the neck-through block. Shortening the bridge end of the neck-through and moving it further along and reattaching it, then re routing the bridge and pickup cavities. It would still need a re fret and side markers changing. I realise this would be a huge amount of work and also very costly if it’s even possible at all. Opinions welcomed good, bad or ugly. I’m ready, I still have my originally Tinfoil but now Kevlar upgraded Covid/Brexit conspiracy hat here so fire away!
  25. Yeah fun innit Kev 🤦🏻‍♂️😄
