A bit more info on this..... if I open a thread or forum with multiple pages I don't see avatars just a white circle where they would be. If I go to the next page of the thread or forum the avatars appear. If I then go back the avatars are still there and appearing on the 1st page I opened. If I leave that thread or forum avatars are gone again. When I return to that thread or forum I get the same as above; 1st page no avatars, other pages avatars show. Ive just realised its not just avatars but smileys and the 'Like' button is also blank. Im not seeing the main BC logo/link on any page. Banner Ads aren't displaying properly- I sometimes see an Elixir ad but the other space is a blank box. Sometimes both are Elixir, sometimes both blank. All of these were ok earlier (I think) but definitely ok yesterday. Is it related to the SSL change?

Everyone's avatar has disappeared tonight for me. Also the Basschat Logo at the top of the screen. This is on the mobile platform.

Looking very nice. ??

1 cool 2 I was trying to see location. I'm using an iPhone. I can't see an option to load desktop site 3 no problem
-
Is location visible from a mobile platform? How to switch to "full version" on mobile? Where is the bump button on mobile?

To answer your question, same as Lozz posted, in my experience getting into the 2/3 o'clock position caused clipping or the limiter to start doing its thing.

The site seems to have been up n down a bit this morning. Think we're still in the ironing out the bugs phase ('scuse my overly technical jargon )

I've been thinking for a while about getting a valve amp. It's only for home use so nothing large in volume or size. I'd love a B15 and been tempted a few times but in reality I think it would be too loud for my needs. From what I've read the volume needs to be getting up there to get that edge of break up tone I think I'm after. Then there's the Ashdowns, after some research I'm looking at the CTM30/LB30 or the CTM15. Is there much difference tonally? I see the CTM15 is a solid state pre whereas the the 30 is all valve. Does the 30 need to be cranked up to get gritty? Does that make it too loud for reasonable use at home? The smaller 15 has a gain control would that help with keeping the volume down? Opinions and suggestions welcome Also any suggestions for a suitable diminutive cab? I have a PJB DoubleFour, which is perfect for my needs otherwise, but I'm not sure there's a way to bypass the amp and just use it as a cab. Is there a way to do that? Thanks

We all reach a peak at some point......

Try and play one if you haven't already. I'd always fancied a Stingray and after years I finally bought one. It was a nice instrument but honestly a bit of a disappointment I just didn't connect with it. Strangely I much preferred the USA Sub I later owned. The Sub sold quicker too when it came to selling them.

Lack of location under usernames
Dazed replied to BassApprentice's question in Site Issues and Questions
Can't see it yet. Ped mentioned in a post that the mobile and full site were the same now. Does that mean location is now visible on a mobile platform? -
Has the eBay forum gone or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Thank you.

I have no experience of either product but PJB have a Powered cab, the PB 100 100w and a 250 watt version. http://www.pjbworld.com/product_powered_pb100.html They also have this new thing the Earbox which is a tiny near field monitor for bass. Might be worth looking into them. http://www.pjbworld.com/product_earbox.html There's a PB 100 just appeared in the classifieds too. ( no connection to me ) I have a Double Four and it's a great little amp. Not sure how it would cope with stage volume levels though.

.......ever? ...........and kept and used it for eternity yet? Topic inspired by the Dream bass thread.

I've had far too many dreams! Takes a few go's before you realise a dream is not the same as reality. Anyone found their "perfect" bass...........and kept and used it for eternity yet?

Fretless Warwicks usually have ebony boards so. It sounds likely to have started off as a fretless. Have you sent the serial number to Warwick , they might be able to confirm. Nice dolphin though whichever way you look at it 👍🏻

I had a dabble at double thumbing a while back. Like you have found the muscle memory of slapping really doesn't come into it. I didn't follow an online tutorial so my technique probably isn't identical to Scott's. As with most things I found what was comfortable and worked for me. Initially I had blisters in places I'd never had before and the nail bed became painful. It didn't feel very natural. Sticking at it and starting slowly helped. I found that spending hours getting used to the motion while watching TV helped. Not playing anything as such just building up the muscle and speed.

NBD: Wingbass (Half-sized mini bass NOW WITH GK system!)
Dazed replied to ped's topic in Bass Guitars
Oh you jammy cow! If it doesn't work out -
Don't see why you couldn't as it's basically the same as sticking a capo on the 12th fret of a standard 5 string. I see Wingbass offer an option to have an EHX Micro POG built into the control cavity... Interesting!
Wingbass apparently did quite a bit of testing of octavers and found the pog to be best match. There's a few other you tube videos of people using different octave pedals with one. I'm undecided if I like them.
-
I was watching this too but couldn't bring myself to make an offer. Would be interested in getting a hands on experience of a wingbass but I don't think many have come over here. I like the idea but most of the videos I've seen they are played more guitar-like for my tastes.
-
Those look interesting. What's the string tension like on such a short scale? Are they standard strings? Meaning can they be replaced by your own preference strings without losing playability? Might have to hunt one of those down to try.
-
Thanks for all the input. The most important aspect is the spacing for me, I've had a couple of 35" before and although I wouldn't choose that length it is usable. I've been checking out various specs online but not all list the spacing. No rush so I'll keep looking.

I'm (again) considering picking up 6 string bass. I don't know why I have no real reason or logic and yet it keeps nagging at me that it will complete my life! Pah! So in an ideal world it would be headless with a minimalist body - I'd like it to be fairly lightweight, 34" scale, twin pickup, probably active, definitely 18-19mm bridge spacing. I've tried and can't adjust to anything less than 18. As its a trial into these big beasts, what's out there in the sub £1000 category ( ideally a lot less than that ) I'm realistic so scale and spacing are the main criteria here. Also good with second hand. Recommend away BC hive mind
