I just noticed on the front page of the ad (on 2nd hand/used) page it does state LEDs, but not in the description when you open that page.
-
Seems a bit overpriced to me, but I'm a tight northerner Nice Thumb, and yes looks likely to have had LEDs at some point. Worth a phone to check as the descriptions are often just lifted off the net for their ads. 'Wick withdrawal Kev?

As a child of the 70's, this has a lot to answer for and I still love it! http://youtu.be/IC7l3V1nhWc
These BaCH basses are beginning to become a family thing. My brother, another bass player, has ordered the five string in the style of a 51 precision in black and white.
Quite tempted by one of these too. I await the details once it's landed. Hope it's a good un!

The colour eh. Isn't sonic blue a good ole Fender colour? If your happy place is with the Yamaha I'd be inclined to stick with it. If you don't mind being told what to play then use something else. Although that could open the door to other pointless requests in future .....

Regarding the PayPal thing, as I understand it... If the buyer pays using the no fees gift option, they cannot make a chargeback. If that's any help. I'm also very wary of using couriers having witnessed several delivery drivers empty their vans on the pavement when looking for a parcel and then throwing everything back when they've found it. Hope the local buyer works out!

If the owner of that ever happens to bump into this thread then please get in touch because I want to buy this bass.
I'm also smitten by the Deep 5! I found a used one a couple of years ago for peanuts but the pawn shop (!) wouldn't ship it. I was very tempted to get on a plane to go over for it. -

Have a listen to Pertybass on YouTube. Although he's fitted a tone styler to his, that starbass sounds great and the mod really seems to give a wide range of sounds. http://youtu.be/hIg4QbSjigs -
Is it the PT 4? http://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Mike_Lull_PT4_Mahogany.html

Italian luthiers Wood & Tronics have gone a step further and mechanised a sliding version too recently. Looks much neater all housed in a ramp style cover.
-
Yup looks like a single cut star bass. I've seen that demo before and was underwhelmed and confused. I like and rate Guy Pratt and Warwicks in general but the two didn't come together in the demo.

Mine currently has some old and very worn nylon tapes which I think are la bellas. A definite improvement over the round wounds it came with and the bronze 'made for acoustic' I tried. I personally couldn't get on with finger noise and scratchyness of rounds.
-
Oh I don't know, Rob Allen, Rick Turner, Bolin and a few others have all done ok with piezos.

You have the patience of a saint!

Those Cataldo basses are nice looking! I'm having a GAS day.
-
I'd love to try something with decent thunderbuckers. I've become quite smitten with the idea of a p bird. Like that lull but don't like the head stocks.
-
You know Lull fit their Thunderbird pickups in other shapes too Precisions look nice with (I think) Maybe worth a visit to Bass direct and see what they have in? They also have the Sandberg version of a Thunderbird. Maybe even a Dingwall DBird if that's your kinda thing....

Has anyone tried the FGS version? From LaBella's site: Our proprietary golden alloy ribbon wire used for the exterior wrap adds a tonal mid-range unlike any other flat wound on the market. La Bella Gold Flats also offer more attack and are slightly softer to the touch than our traditional stainless steel flat wounds. http://www.labella.com/strings/category/4-string/

FL's are Labellas light gauge 43-104 FS are the standard gauge 45-105 There's also an FX which are their extra light gauge 39-96. It's all down to personal preference though as we all feel things slightly different.
Unique definitely. And completely hollow? how? Not my personal choice but I suppose I know I wouldnt look particularly at home playing it. This on the other hand: https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/BADCPBCH1/electric-basses/gibson-midtown-standard-bass-guitar-in-pelham-blue is my bag
Here's some info from their website : Q : How are they made? A : We’re not telling – it’s a secret! Well, maybe just a few words… The instruments consist of a thin “monocoque” skin, just a few millimeters (~1/4″) thick. Monocoque means a strong shell that supports the string tension and provides acoustic resonance. The body and neck of all models are one piece and completely hollow, and Heiko inserts sound posts to connect the front and back surfaces (exactly the same as on upright acoustic basses). Some areas of the shell are a bit thicker for mounting hardware (under the tuners, for example). Instruments are built up over a core piece, which is later removed. They are not formed on some injection molding machine, and they do not pop out at the push of a button! Each one is made by hand with care and skill. -
ever have those "lose the mojo" times ?
Dazed replied to addictedtobass's topic in General Discussion
I think we all go through times like this. Mine lasted roughly 10 years A lot of sh*t happened in the band I'd been in for many years, and looking back it was as much a social thing as it was a musical thing. Lost touch with everyone despite being friends. Then life became busier and it all became a blurry memory. I didn't sell any gear luckily I didn't need to. I started playing again a few years ago just for my own enjoyment. Then I found Basschat and GAS took over! I get frustrated with playing even now so just take a break until feel like picking it up again. -

I really like the Overwater Patriot shape too, but I doubt if I'd ever own one they seem too big to me. Great British Bass Lounge have a couple in stock too My current guilty obsession is for a 6er. At the top of the weird list in my head is a Basslab. They are light, unique in that they are completely made of composite material and also totally hollow including the neck. -
