1. Yeah because he really needs the money and they can't possibly benefit from one of the most famous people on the planet publicising their gear. How's your 50+ year multi million pound global music career going?
2. Go on the warwick site, you can email them with the serial and a few pics and they will confirm the build details. Nice looking bass!
3. I love posts like this. Brilliant. Envious and inspired! Really looking forward to following this.
4. Nice! Liking that very much
5. I'll try a set please. Can you PM me payment details. Thanks
6. Any suggestions folks? Looking into buying some headless bits - tuner/ bridge headpiece. There doesn't seem to be a huge choice ABM, ETS and Hipshot. Any other recommendations? Good suppliers? Bass parts or Thomann are current contenders.
7. Any comparison to TI floppies?
8. Oooh posh Scouse lol
9. They must've added those after I got mine. Yep definately a fantastic little amp. What you replacing it with?
10. Didn't know there was a gig bag?
11. Thanks Jim, now the obvious question! How does it cope with the bottom end?
12. I just did a quick search for looptastic and the ITunes store shows this as not being available from the UK site but it is on the US store and to change to that ITunes Store. If that's any help?
13. I'm planning a major sell off soon. I've fallen into the "collecting more than playing" pit. I shouldn't be reading this.
14.
Not one that got away because I could never have afforded it at the time, but there was a burl maple top Sei sixer in an advert from a copy of bassist magazine I got when I was at school (14 or 15 years old). I literally became obsessed with it, I cut the ad out and carried it around with me for about six months... even tried to get the school to give me a grant to buy it... I was desperate for it, first time I'd really really GASsed for a bass. ...of course in true GAS fashion by the time I did actually have the money to buy decent gear I wanted something else and the Sei was long forgotten.
Sounds very familiar! I did the same with a Hohner Jack advert and then a Warwick Dolphin Pro1! Although I did end up with both. As for the ones that got away.... There've been several over last 2 or 3 years. Usually followed immediately by the gutted sick feeling! Gas however soon finds another object of stalk worthiness!
15. Thomann replied: We can’t give any exaxt information about the weight, because it can vary. I weight and measured our bass guitars from the showroom to give you an idea how much it weights. I meassured the spring spacing from the inside edge to insidige edge. From the first to last and A to D. Harley Benton BZ 7000 NT Gewicht: 5,94 kg B-F: 93,99 mm A-D: 14,24 mm Harley Benton BZ 6000 NT Gewicht: 5,56 kg B-C: 79,10 mm A-D: 14,57 mm Harley Benton B650 Gewicht: 4,52 kg B-C: 77,93 mm A-D: 14,29 mm
16. Thanks, I meant the gauge.
17. A bit off topic but, can I ask who the shipping is with? I was looking into buying a bass from Singapore but the seller was quoting £3-400 for insured shipping using Fed Ex on bass valued at less than £500!
18.
I usually have a 18mm spacing on my basses and the 7 string felt comfortable, tight but useable. You also have to factor in the strings I was using and it still felt comfortable to play. Do it, you'll love it. Couple it with a delay pedal and you'll be in for a treat.
What strings were you using ?
19. Had a message from another site that their 6 string version is 15.5mm. That sound right? That's a lot narrower than I was hoping.
20. Just sent you a PM. Could be your lucky day. Let us know if it works out
21. Not exactly from scratch, but I did say it would be using a built neck. Or a neck from a complete bass, then make the body or wings. Replace the hardware with headless parts, possibly reuse the existing electrics depending how good or bad they are. Its looking like I'll be using ETS stuff probably as there's not a wide choice available and they can cope with one off spacings etc. The fact that the hardware will cost more than the donor bass is a little irritating. Alternatives are ABM or Hipshot, unless there are other suggestions.
22. Just had a thought, if the 6000/7000 are the same size just using a narrower spacing on the 7 string.
23. Richter in Germany also make piezo circuits. I think I read Basslab use them.
24. Thanks Jim! I've mailed Thomann again but still no response. For what they cost its hard not to try one, handy 30 day return as well.
25. The grand butchery plan is: to attempt a Steinberger-esque 5/6/7 string using a cheap 5/6/7 string bass.
