1. Lately I have a t bird thing going on. I bet this is lush.
2. Blimey no chance of recalling the serial number, it was 20 odd yeas ago! Mine had 2 bartolinis and no scratch plate. It was a solid electric blue colour..... Until I took all the paint off and refinished it in a natural oil finish. I remember selling it and then seeing it at a guitar show at Umist for over twice the price I'd sold it for
3. I owned one of these in the early 90's. I've never seen another one since or prior to it. Can I ask where you found it or how long ago? Curious if it's the same one.
4. Thanks for the advice folks. I've dabbled with guitars before, stripping, refinishing sanding reshaping bodies but never gone to this stage. I have lots of woodworking tools available but not anything specialised for luthiery!
5.
OK so this is me now, after much buying, selling and trading over the last few years I have arrived at this setup. It both sounds the way I want and is portable enough for me to actually get it to gigs. Am I done with buying gear now?.... ... i'd never be so presumptuous, but I do feel I have arrived at an unbeatable setup for my current needs as a gigging bass player, involved in several projects and needing to travel on public transport to gigs / rehearsals etc. I feel very content.
That little lot on a bus?? Jesus God. Hats off to you Rob!
6. This is a feeler before I do any serious damage! I'm curious if it's possible to change the shape of an acoustic body. Basically to make it slightly or a lot more ergonomic. I'm thinking of reducing the depth from top to back of the body only. Ideally not just a size reduction but giving it some contouring. A bit like the Taylor /klein models that have a back that narrows towards the upper rear bout, to reduce the stretched out feeling of putting your arm around a bath tub to play it. Is that even possible? I have an old unsuspecting knackered acoustic ready to experiment on but I suppose each instrument is different in terms of construction and bracing etc. Any pointers or advice would be welcomed and appreciated !
7. Would probably have sold a long time ago if it weren't for the ummm graphic paint
8. If it left Warwick as it is now ie. A lined ebony fretless you should be able to get confirmation from warwick themselves. You need to email them (info on their site) and they can tell you how it was originally built. They did/do make lined fretless basses- I have one, albeit a custom shop order from the 90's. It's always the risk buying blind so to speak. One mans excellent condition isnt necessarily so.
9. Thanks. I have pangbourne gas now!! Man what a collection. Nice work!
10. Host in Photo bucket or similar and add the url here.
11. Living Colour - love rears it ugly head Doug is a leg end http://youtu.be/MQcPB1WkISI
12. I had a 4 last year. Fancied one for a while. Great quality and finish. It was one of those I couldn't get on with tho ultimately. Really wanted to as well but something didn't click. Strange it seemed like there was too much space around the strings. Whatever that means Definately one to try due to the non standard design shape and balance. Weird playing something so light!
13. Sly and Robbie Boops http://youtu.be/j78h2bYyrdY
14. Yip that caught my eye too. Seems very cheap or all other used boomslangs are over priced?
15.
I already asked but owner wants to keep it, otherwise i would jump on this, prefect bass for me!! I've giving it another few weeks before that email to Alan........!
Ahh that's a shame
16. No I think you were right 1st time I quite like them. I imagine they sound alright with the TV Jones thundertron pickups
17. Is there any issue with the truss rod? Will it cause the crack to open if the rod is adjusted? Cheers
18. This may be the perfect one for you http://basschat.co.uk/topic/255173 http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/243/ It was withdrawn but might be worthy of a PM.
19. Bought 4 and a DB Sold 3 Lots and lots of strings, pedals and parts bought. Thinking back I've listed here and on gumtree anf sold more on gumtree than here, over the years.
20. It's sold but the ad is still up http://basschat.co.uk/topic/257788-sold-warwick-streamer-stage-i-88-fretless-ebony-lined-emg-pj I'd go as far as to say it's the same bass ............ Nice mark up
21. Isn't there one for sale here that was priced well under that ?
22. Good era for Warwicks if you like the neck profile from that time of course. £1500 is very top end, as wArwickhunt said- anyone would be lucky to sell one for that, but it's retail so maybe that evens the price out. Unless you know you like them is suggest you try a few Warwicks from different eras to get a feel for them. It may take a while to find 2 from the same era to compare as they aren't the most common! My Stage 1 custom shop is anything but twangy, it has a 'Warwick' sound and harmonics everywhere.
23. I've seen this and it's cool as. Can believe you're selling it
