1. Could there be a sub section for Primula with Chives please.
2. I prefer Primula. Now the important bit Do you pronounce it Pry- mue - la like my welsh friend or primm-ula such as what I do? Discuss
3. I quite enjoy a proficient slapper It's the tappers I can't abide. Get a piano.
4. Oh remember the days, not a rickenbacker in sight, but lots and lots of scrumptious Jaffa cakes. How we laughed and enjoyed and hoped that those fun times would last forever. Now back to the thread.
5. A Rickenbacker. Ba dum tish! I thank you. Good night.
6. Did the goats make it across the bridge safely?
7. Be wary of the b string fitting ok in the bridge. I'm sure I've read there can be issues and sometimes tapered strings needed to be used.
8.
Anybody up for a robbery??? http://willcuttguitars.com/ritter I want this one though: http://willcuttguitars.com/ritter/ritter-r8-singlecut-4-string-late-lounge
Im there with you! I'll have the Cocobolo please and thankyou
9. I've been setting up my own basses for 25+ years. I'm not an expert by any means. I think I've got the process all sorted until I get a bass that has a problem and that's the difficult thing. Diagnosing what the problem is. Occasionally a neck is bowed or a fret is high or insert your problem here. I find this is where things get difficult when trying to do a set up. It's not always simple to identify the issue if you haven't crossed paths with it previously. If everything was perfect life would be much simpler! Sometimes you can go round and around a set up but it will never be right because the bass is out of the normal parameters making it impossible to resolve using the normal adjustments. Just my twopenneth.
10. Yeah I think I might agree with you. Try this for size http://youtu.be/At3OP5CvIRY
11. I've been in bands where I've thought the guitar player should be able to play a little bit of guitar I can strum a few chords, but I refuse to.
12. There is another builder on talkbass - MPU in Finland I believe, that was also building multicoil pickups. I've seen some that were finished. I understand they were quite similar to Wal pickups in that they were 2 coils per string. Might be worth contacting him. For what it's worth Ive had a Wal and an ACG. Both are fantastically flexible tone wise but still different. I loved both pre amps, but you definitely need to spend time learning how to get the sounds you are looking for. I'm looking at replacing a bartolini humbucker currently in a warwick so will be following this with interest.
13. You sir have the patience of a saint! Really hope it's with you soon
14. In my humble opinion it isn't a great price. Warwick prices are all over the place in the pre owned world and for a bolt on 4 string from 98 that's a bit expensive. Definitely check out the classifieds here. I'd also suggest trying out any perspective thumb (well any potential purchase really) as the neck profile, balance and feel can change drastically from year to year of manufacture. Trying different basses is all the fun!
15. Thanks for the reply. Is the fan noisy or a bit dicky? Whereabouts are you?
16. Mine was a limelight p with a jazz neck. I've disliked P basses since I started playing. I've always used an active. What a turnaround. I'm not saying all the non fender shaped or active basses are going but blimey it was an eye opener !
17. I'm amazed Ben Shepperd ( not the pillock off tv) from the mighty Soundgarden hasn't been mentioned. Fantastic bass lines. Not flashy at all and one of the few low hangin bass players I can take seriously. The guy from everything everything also has some killer lines.
18. I think the seller is a member here. Might be worthy of a PM. STAMPEDE
19. Hi Do you know the weight? Is it in a flight case, difficult to tell in the pics What work does it need? Oh yeah, what valves are in it and how much use have they had? Thanks
20. Didn't you withdraw this from sale Wednesday ? Is the switch an aftermarket addition ?
21. By the same token, why say "it's on hold" and sell it anyway?
22. I like stage 2 streamers, I really like them. I've considered getting one often. Are they really just a jazz bass, or is there more to them than that?
