1. Thanks sir salty. I've had a mooch on YouTube earlier and couldn't find anything that was very appealing. I'll check out the links you posted.
 2.
I so agree with this. It never ceases to amaze me how many BC'ers seem to revel in having a go at live music on TV. Doesn't seem to matter which genre, channel or programme style. There's always somone taking huge offence at professional musicians playing live on TV for the entertainment of others. My step-son and I watch it together most years and always enjoy it. Our tastes are incredibly different but there's always some people we both like and some we both think aren't so hot. Every year someone pops up and surprises us and that's always some highs and lows but, overall, I'd rather watch this than the tripe and/or repeats churned out elsewhere.
Well put. We could always go back to the good old days of TOTP and see some classic miming. As far as live music on TV these days there isn't exactly a huge choice and I'd rather see the kind of variety on hoot than nothing. I also know how to change the channel if I don't like it. It is a repetitive theme on here whenever a live act is on TV it seems to a slagging. Whats that phrase about supporting live music? Happy new year
 3. Obviously 3TS always sound best!
 4. I had a jack casady hollow body for a while. It's acoustic volume was little to no improvement over a solid body. You could use it to practice unplugged in a quiet room room but I doubt it would be particularly satisfying.
 5. I doubt Mr Jackson would say it limits his style. Of course it's stylised it's called the Anthony Jackson model I guess for a reason. It makes a refreshing change to see an instrument is slightly more personalised than every signature fender I've seen which are just a different colour or doesn't have binding or ooh it's got a sticker on it! Don't get me wrong it's obscenely priced to me personally but then again I also wouldn't spend 10k on a Rolex etc etc. So all the negative comments here about how it can and can't be played. Have you all got one or proved these theories?
 6. I didn't realise the shape of it on first looking. It's a hybrid hollow body. Look at the size of it. Would be interested to hear what a $30000+ bass sounds
 7. Some excellent suggestion thanks. It's difficult to describe what I'm looking/listening for. It's not quite overdriven or distorted or harsh I guess a kind of softer smoother break up if that makes sense? I realise it's almost impossible to replicate a recorded tone due to production techniques and processes. As a start I ordered a behringer bdi21 pedal, that seems the cheapest way to stick a toe in the water. It's just arrived so an update hopefully later
 8. Small world. One of these has popped up on gumtree today
 9. If you edit the thread title the mods will do their thang
 10.
Helium is the name Spector give to basses built with the water-cure redwood wings and ally bridge. Saves about a pound off the weight (depending on the top wood). Mine comes in at a very nice 8.5lbs
Thank you for that. Glad you're enjoying the awesome purchase.
 11.
Always nice to have a big purchase sanctioned by the boss, isn't it? I must start being nicer to the current mrs discreet...
Y'could start by not calling her the current Mrs They never appreciate that. (As fortunate as she must be to have that title )
 12. Nice. No that isn't a typo.... There really are four zeros ! http://www.talkbass.com/threads/fodera-spruce-hybrid-5-2014.1120831/
 13. Happy NBD! Where's the helium connection ?
 14. Just recently I've got it into my head I need a valve amp. I'm talking old stuff here. Ampeg b15 v4b b25b that kind of thing. I've been feeding the gas listening to lots of old school stuff with a plain old precision and I'm guessing a b15 of some sort and I just love the tone. I realise none of the above are ideal for a gigging situation due to the lack output but that's fine for me at the moment as I'm currently gig less. What options do I have? I'm using a markbass cmd121p right now and that's a great amp. Would one of the tech 21 / bdi21 type pedals give me what I'm looking for? HELP!
 15. How's the V4? Currently fighting gas for an ole valvey Ampeg
 16. I haven't used it but a seller once suggested he always used a Cash On Delivery service by one of the major couriers, UPS or such. It wasn't outrageously expensive and it seemed straightforward. Courier collects from seller ( he hasn't been paid) delivery to destination and courier collects payment from you. The downside appeared to be that once you sign and pay then if you inspect the item and find its damaged you have to go through the normal claims process. Which I guess is the case when receiving parcels from any courier. So this paypal issue isn't a paypal issue, it's a dishonest seller problem?
 17.
This is as funky as a funky thing on funkday. http://youtu.be/mUsn880UWPQ
ORSUM!!!!!!! Reminds me a little of Vulfpeck
 18.
Just snagged a blonde piggy-back Bassman after much searching, so thought i'd get some of my stuff out for a pic, so we have 3 x bass and rigs to add to this porn thread; '52 Precision and '52 TV Bassman, '58 Precision and '59 Bassman, '61 Jazz and '63 Bassman
Is it Christmas Mommy?
 19. Yip hot rods and deluxes from various years left the factory in this format. Here's a few I just found mooching through the Precision gear porn thread
2006 American Deluxe Precision - sold to Bass Chatter Bottlebassman:

Didn't know if one of these variants had been posted so here's a recent acquisition of mine:

My 2003 USA Precision De Luxe. The only bass I've ever bought new. All standard, no mods. Currently strung with flats.

Left: my (like) new American Deluxe Precision V:
20. I have a KK BabyBass and it's pretty good. Obviously easier transporting it than a DB. Very good construction and finish. I can't compare it to a stick type EUB as I haven't used one. What I can say is a fretless electric cannot make the same sound as a KK, they just are different animals. By the same token it doesn't sound identical to an acoustic DB either, they are different again. Another big advantage of the KK is its very easy to plug and play. It doesn't feedback, ok you could spend some time trying force it to feedback but generally they don't. Each has its own pros and cons and it's something you have to try and find the best solution to your situation.
