1. About 25 years ago I played an upright for 6 months. Recently I've thought about buying one. What does a novice look for when the general description is its about 10 years old, came from Czech Republic or America etc. i really know nothing about what's good or bad Where do you start....?
2.
I haven't played any other bass that can match a Wal for its true "bass-ness."
Try an ACG! Bump for a lovely wal bargain
3. I'm not sure if I'm trying to talk myself into or out of buying a 32" scale 5 or 6 string. Ill try and explain. I have several 35" 5ers and I find them comfortable, but can be a bit of a stretch if playing down at the pointy end heavily. I've recently found 2 32" scale basses I quite like the look of. Ones a 6 and the other a 5. I'm wondering what the low b is like on the shorter scale and having trouble finding that size in a localish shop just to see how it feels etc. The 2 I like are in Europe so it's not likely I'm gonna be able to try either before buying.... Opinions invited please folks
4. Recently picked up a prose fretless which feels like it has elixirs on. Very nice sound and feel. Gives a rounded warmth and not too bright sounding at all.
5. What's the feeling about low b's on 32" scale basses?? I'm tempted by one, but only ever played a 34/35" 5's and I find them quite a stretch. it's difficult to try as its in Europe and I'm in the uk.
6. Recently completed a little deal with Si. Super fast and smooth transaction. A recommended bc'er
7. withdrawn for now…..
8. That could be the best £400 you'd ever spend. Love the look of that ! Similarly to Reggie I'm wrong handed for this
9.
Very reasonably priced IIDSSM
I was thinking the same myself...... GLWTS!
10. So drawn to this. Was this from bass direct I recall they had a relic yellow like this a while back. Beauty!
11. No probs, just send your bank details and ill arrange it with my Nigerian friends
12. Until you get one. Then there will be something else you have to have......
13. Someone's keen. It's over 2 k. That's up a grand in a day. Does look a very tidy finish. Nice
14. Serious question.... I have a bass that I really like but hate the headstock design. Is it practical to chop it orff?' I realise it'll need new hardware. But wonder about the truss rod , neck strength and stability once done. Are headless basses designed or built differently to account for these issues in the first place or not? Th bass in question is a set neck or possibly neck through but can't tell due to the the construction. Thanks in advance
15. Update: Spoke to Dawn several times and 2 x replacement E strings sent out Sadly the replacements are just the same. I've restrung a 5 string at the weekend with the other set of premium rounds and the D and E are dead in this set they just sound like strings from totally different sets...!? Very disappointed. Ill be contacting them again tomorrow.
16. Dag nammit my over curiousness!! Don't suppose you have any sound clips of this??
17. Stupid question. I'm presume these aren't hum cancelling? Are they designed for any specific string spacing. Cheers
18. Having never tried low tension strings how do they feel? I like light gauge strings, 30-90 even but they can be somewhat twangy and definite loss of tone compared to a heavier gauge. I think I like lighter gauges because they are a lower tension. So the question is do lower tension strings feel like a lighter gauge but with the depth that fat strings have? Anyone have any used sets they want to sell ?
19. Lots of interest over the weekend but still here. Someones going to get a bargain!
