    My warwick has barts and it sounds great but I've never changed them do can't compare. I owned a Larrivee 6 string bass with bartolini humbuckers that had a very different tone, warm but growls when required. My main negative is purely aesthetic in that I don't like how the name gets worn away from the pickup cover over time! I wouldn't mind trying a set of j types In one of my jazzes as that has a very 'known' sound and I'd be interested to hear if there is much difference.

    In the early to mid 90s I had a Larrivee 6string bass. Could never get to grips with it and sold it a year or so after stripping the metallic blue paint and refinishing it in oil. It had a lovely maple through neck and bartolini humbuckers. I saw it again a couple of years later on a trade stand at a Manchester guitar show. It still had the same finish and was for sale, but for a lot more than I sold it for! Never seen one since or online. I think they made quite a limited number and then stopped producing basses. This was back in the days before we all had a camera in our phones in our pockets so no pics of it sadly.

    Haha I had a go and went on playing email tennis with hutt miriam. Despite my perseverance that I travel all over the south and can meet anywhere it wasn't possible to meet. Shame......

    Saw this yesterday and thought the same thing. Didn't get a reply from the gumtree seller tho. Seems very common this type of scam lately. Seller won't meet or accept cash, always PayPal or other transaction and they will (likely wont) send bass. Seen 2 in gumtree just yesterday. Both musicmans strangely...

    No chance. Seller contacted me. Can buy it using PayPal , pay zone but not real money! Not possible to meet. ie send money and wait for delivery ......or not!

    Shhhh Another too good to be true gumtree ad? Recently bought a bass from eBay , the next day I saw the same bass, in fact the identical ad including serial number and pics on gumtree on the other side of the country and for half the price. Careful out there ......

    Did I read somewhere there was a difference in nut width somewhere? One of the subs had a more jazz like shape/size? Anyone any experience of this?

    I believe I have a set of j type nordstrands but they don't have any specific stamps or markings to say they are.
