1. Is this *****SOLD***** ?
2. Aaaand..... back home to four owners ago....
3. b.b.b.b.b....b.b.b.b..b..b.bbbbb.....b.b.b.b...b.
4. GONE AWHILE BACK - JUST TIDYING... '79. Very clean for a 135. A few wee tolex lifts. Pencil diameter hole in the grill cloth. Coupla scrapes on the handle covers (cue black felt tip). All lettering intact - front and back. Hey! The back panel is not bowed in or creased! Tech checked. Changed out a noisy pre valve. Can't say easy life, because I don't have full history, but is very clean for a 135. Only sign of anything ever is a changed standby switch. Has a stong set of JAN Sylvania 6L6s (badged Peavey, but a little ink doesn't stop them being the best sounding and toughest USA 6L6s). £550 delivered. Not hyperflush, but would add a few bob for the right USA P deal.
5. As per reply. Excellent gigbag, insert straplockbuttonthingies, half can of oilpolishgoop. And I'll eat the 'std' UK courier. Tout compris, eh?
6. The market speaks.... Mintish orig cased Rays seem to pull £650. Maybe £700 with hipshot if orig key incl. Subject to condish and such ref above... ...I'd have to see 'nother £200, anyway. Is it a clean pre-satin/gloss neck con muchos birdseyes?
7. Jeepers Had a 55-02 - prefer the G&L 5500, but could flip it...? Had an EBS 650 - too clean, 350s not pulling much dosh Had an iAmp800 - not enuff grunt, best thorugh theri won (£££) cabs Had an Eden 410 - Fender head almost tore it apart Don't suppose you have something that isn't in your list...?
8. Fender tried something awhile ago, putting pressure on retailers (blocking stock if ifringing) but there were too many bolted horses. Jon is just trying to maximise the value of the brand as a family asset. Not like he's a banker or politician or soemthing, but it isn't quite in the spirit of rock 'n roll....
9. Keeping it live As always, happy to ponder swaps
10. No guidance on wants (not even number of strings) and no clues on valuation. Looks like this is a fish for 'best deal offered', rather than specific want or valuation on the P-Bass. Another game of 'What have you got?' meets 'Guess what I'm thinking.'...? Usually ends with 'I'll just keep it' or 'off to the Bay'. But.. maybe not... These are lovely basses. I had one from new. Back in the '80s it took me three years to get £300 for it. It was all Jazzes then... Gotta be worth at least £800 now. There ya go - while I was typing - posted a £1k. Honest value, I reckon.
11. Got a G&L 5500 and a Thumb 5. Each slapescent in its way. The EMGs in the 5500 give A++ control of attack and sustain.
