1. Did you get the ???????????B2B??????,???????????????. from Rumour6? Or did you get it relined after the 12?24?,???????????,??????????,????????????????????????????????? was ????????????,??????COO??
2. PMd about the horse-flex and the nanopods. Got an offer on the reflexion, so that's off the swap list. PS Saw L'il Steph at the Goblet & Swallow - she says ???/3//????????????/.....?
3. 4. Like this one?
5. Shouldn't this be in the wanted section?
6. This is unfeasibly great value for a thunderous setup. Just the drivers are worth half the price. I love the boost control...
7. The two (or three)digits are the original price in yen. I have seen 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 100, 125. The main differnces are electrics and wood flawlessness (izzat a wurd?)
8. Eminence are a good all-round bet, especially if you are after a USA/bright tonality. Don't have the compressed/smooth top end of the edge-doped Brit drivers.
9. The Fender is voiced for Eminence drivers, which are usually efficient. Well, certainly more suited than the 95dB 'tight' Celestion neos which ar ebetter suited to a compact cab. The big box lieks 'em kinda loose and flappy.
10. Great cabs... ..."all of the 8 without the weight"
11.
Hello Mr Thorn, Looking for a case for a Series 6 AH500X head, would you have one ? Also any footswitchs ? I've got a AH600SMX that could use one, looks like a normal jack input. Cheers.
I have one head case. Trace Elliot branded. Currently housing a 350X, same size as my Mk5 AH500X. Dark brown - fibreglass? - with cork sheet inserts. Front and back off. You take the handle off the head (and put it all labelled up and with the brackets and screws where you will be able to find them someday - like I didn't) and slide the whole thing in. The footswitches I have are the 1/4" jack preshape/graphic. I will try one with an SMX head and let you know what it does.
12.
How much would you be after for the sound city 200?
£450 excl. output valves for an amp that's all checked out nad happy (tho' may not be 100% dead silent, unless you want to kick in for a cap job). I can have my tech bias it up for anything you want to put in. If you want new valves, best to buy them yourself, so you have a guarantee. I can do used valves - including those hideously expensive GEC KT88s - but can't guarantee them.
13. That's the back end of a Sound City 200 flashing GEC KT88s. I have two of those and a good ol' Hiwatt 200 on the go, if it matters.
14. Very efficient cab, with the hypersensitive EV drivers. Surprisingly balanced. 20w kicks it ito life. 100w gives solid bottom end - even digital watts will shift air with this. I had a Big Block 750 pushing mine. Oh, yeah!
15.
I am interested in one of the 15" combos. I can lay my hands on about £300 now and could scrape together more given time. I had better come clean and admit I don't really know what they are worth - this will be my first proper amp and I am going on recommendations rather than personal experience. Can we work something out?
Aye. The 1x15s I have are the second black painted ply cab style - with the port divide at the bottom - the one you can lift on your own. The box is pretty much the same as a Marshall angle cab. The sound is uniquely Trace. The reflex design really throws the lows. They are rated at 150w and will DI. I can do one for £300 and a wee bit carriage, which makes them insanely good value. I don't know why they aren't £500 - they just aren't. Yet? Anything you want to know, just PM.
16. The 2103X cabs were around £800 new. Killer studio cab, as you don't get any piezo fizz. Rich stabby plucks instead of static-edgy poinking.
17.
Have a bump on me. I can feel my trouser legs flapping just looking at that rig! I've always fancied the Trace cabs to go with my AH200 Series 6 head but never got round to it.
This has to be your best chance. The 1x15 is an easy £150 (though a driver upgrade wouldn't hurt) The 2103X is an honest £250 (kinduva specialist top cab, but born to sit where it is) The head is worth £350 to anyone who has ever heard what they can do If I wasn't sitting with the same rig... ...or it was 500 miles closer ... ...
18. A snip. £100 less than the one I am selling!
19. Ogri - a fav! Heads: AH150 MkV £225 Best one I've had, HUGE bottom end, best small head of all time AH250 MkV £350 Very clean, UV working, tonal powerhouse AH250SMX (out on appro) £425 Spanky fresh condition, valve pre AH350X £350 Clean, UV working, Biamp capable, I can do the matching biamp cabs AH500X £350 Minor cosmetic bits, Biamp capable, 2 x AH250 in one box, ultimate tour kit Also some combos...
20. Classic 'from the old days' 220w SWR head. Valve pre. Kicks whatever you want kicked. £250 + carr = £275 delivered.
21. An Egypt Nofretiti! They were £750 in the '80s.
22. Max bang for buck. My 400 is akiller!
23. So - you want a cab for an Impact head? Don't get hung about 4ohms - it will put out the same wattage into 16 or 8 as long as it is set to that impedence. For bass, it will have clean headroom up to about 60w RMS output. What you need is max efficiency. How 'bout a '70s Fender 'silver face' 2x15? Max paper moving and jsut right for your wattage.
24.
What 4 ohm cabs have you got mate? Can you post?
I can post - no problem. Now.... Trace did 8ohm cabs almost exclusively so that you could add cabs, not watts, to increase volume. ...but... I can do one of the five 18+15+12 cabs they made back in the olden days. If you can lift it @ 110kg. Sure sounds good! I can also reload the trusty upright format 2x15 cab with 8ohm drivers to run @ 4ohm. Kille stage presence and lovely, singing tone - and not a stupid lift. What wattage would you want? What head are you using?
25. CAn't beat £200, sorry. Can beat £300, though....
