1. Target wattage? Cab number and config prefs?
2. Free carriage is offered!
3. Pal in Aberdeen is shifting his EA cab. 4 Neo cast frame drivers, an adjustible tweeter, arated@ 1000watts. This 410 is an M-Line speaker enclosure and is vented on both sides. Wheels and a removable "lugguage" style handle plus real useable handles. Made in the USA. Cost new (if you can find one in the uk) is £1100. He is on for £850. Carr will be £25 arranged by me, I don't know if he can/will do Paypal.
4. Wow!...... sudenly an interesting item! Just need to know what amp connection gives it the options. Which I don't....
5. Which profile neck is it? I had one the same back then with a neck that matched my '72 P-bass. Seen others with deep C clubby profiles. Man, I miss it... brand new condition with white plate. An Edinburgh shop called and said a guy forom Switzerland was depsatate for one, so I allowed it to be owned in a Tokai tweed case for £375. I had paid £325, so I let it go. Sob.
6. Lee took care of business... I bought some valves - timely comms, well packed, quick return - even a wee extra! Supah!
7. Any biamp head will do it - its just not a full range cab ( 2x250 top and 500 bottom). Chap with an AH600SMX sez his biamps = that'll work. Pre with stereo out and stereo power will do it. I have an AH350X and an AH500X if anyone wants to go the distance on a package. This thing is no money - found one advertsied for $3300AUS
8. The mounting screws intrigue... ...Andy67?
9.
so soldering things on instead of connecting them with spade connectors made it sound better? sounds like you've been sold snake oil chap.
I wasn't going to bother replying to this one, but here you go... ...try it and see just how much dif it makes. In almost every case. Because it does, friend. I have many, many dozens of heads and cabs and have heard ithat dif many, many times. This isn't snake oil or attitude: Solder involves the full circumference of each strand and locks the mechanical contact in place. In a non-vibrating, oxygen free environment you could maybe trust a friction contact -if he crimping put more than one or two cables strands into contact with the spade in the first place. And as soon as there is oxidation or less-than-perfect contact, how much signal is getting through? Ever needed to clean an input jack? Same thing.
10. Nope. It is from the V series - grill cloth over steel grill. About the size and depth of a standard 4x12 cab. Great rock cabs.
11. If there was a list of 'waht to do' to get the music out of the gear, then here could be a standard shop prep routine that undoes all the jive. What amazes me is that a cab that is 'worth' £549 when it is sorted out is hiding inside something that sounds like s*** that they charge £549 for. That's £449 for a logo?
12. Hi, Geoff! You and I been messing with gear for 20 years and we still bump into each other in new places! Great cab - just wanting a matching look, or is there a slight voicing difference? Pity it isn't a 1x15 you are after... Have fun on the forum. Here's to a prosperous '10! Chris
13.
Hi Ya, Could please send me pictures and a price for the Ser 6 200w, 2x10 + 2x5 valve pre combo. Many Thanks Chris
Hey, Chris All info sent. Cheers
14.
how much more is the 350x? :P
Catalogue info: AH350X Designed to match with 1818X cabinet Twin channel fan cooled unit Channel A delivers 150watts into 8 ohms and is high pass, above 250HZ only Channel B delivers 250 watts into 4 ohms full range. Seperate level controls are not fitted We recommend you use this unit with one or two 1818X enclosures Use channel B with a full range cabinet by itself for smaller gigs. So, it is an AH250 with a bonus high end if you have an extension cab. £400 'cos it is clean and working great! I have an 1818X cab - but they are almost always a 2-man lift.
15. I took an Ampeg SVT-115 Classic cab in p/x. Sounded awful and wimpish. My tech checked to see if it had a pathetic driver. No - cast frame (Chinese) Eminence. Snipped the spade connectors and hardwired the speaker - big improvement in mid (any at all, now). Hmmm... Connection to the crossover board is a fiddly crimp on with spring contacts onto two rectangle bar thingmies all in a nylon junciton thing. Snip. Solder. NOW IT IS A CAB!!!!! Sounds amazing - 100X improvement. Wow! Ampeg - shame for that fiddly crap tone sucking nonsense. And they retail @ £549!?!?!?? Worth it after the mod, though. A great cab trying to get out.....
16. Hey! Found these phone photos It is dark in the vault, so the black painted wood doesn't show well - but you get the idea? Didn't shoot the back, because it is straight stock and all OK. I can maybe do better detail (if it matters) when the snow goes.... As always, if you move on it and then decide it was 'not for you' as long as I'm not out of pocket, RTB is cool. Or if you would rather have the Mark V with the light and everything for a little more. Or the 350X Or the 500X Or ...
17. How big is your car!?!?!?!? If it was up here, it would be nestled under my AH350X biamp had where it belongs....
18.
Any small wattage head with a good preamp?
Oh, man - the AH150 is just away... Sorry.
19.
Currently have a 1x15 300w 8ohm cab atm and need a head for it! I am unfamiliar with all this gear so i may need some help anything around £200 maybe more Thats the cab actually in your 6th picture, can never remember the model names. Why not just call them people names instead of numbers. Would solve so many problems.
Your 1518 does what no small box can. Revel in its room-filling lift! Best I can do is the venerable AH250 - some broken sliders (but all work) and no light (so it is legal in Germany), but TONE, BABY! There is no gig that amp 'n cab cannot do. I will allow it to be owned for £275 delivered. If you ever see another one - buy it, too!
20. Uh...yeah, man... er...wow...I mean... um... wha?
21. Dave's not here, man. ...or am I the only one who remembers Cheech & Chong...?
22. I know the prev. owner... Pity about the DI thing. The wee Trace preamp pedal is a good hleper here. gives you a GP12 pre that you can put between your bass and the desk = some hope of a sound....
23. Please note:his cab is the B410HLF, not the SVT model. Still a sweetepiece, but not the same item.
24. You are right about the AH1000 - that's the amp it wants. The BFC cab is a biamp design with a bottom section and stereo tops. It doesn't run full range unless you completely rewire it - and that involves a complete unbuild and some drilling... I have an AH500X and an AH350X that will run it, but for its full everything, you want to feed the 250w+250w stereo top section. Then WOW!
