1. The 250SM is 250 into 4ohm, and about 175w into 8ohm, same as the AH250. But it was an SM = Sound Management = dual compressor. That pre circuit sucks presence a bit, so your AH250SM would be output equiv to an AH200. The older AH250 has a larger power transformer to deliver more thump per watt than the later stuff, so is output equiv to an AH300SM. In case anybody cares....
2. I can do a clean and happy single 32ohm 10"Celestion for £45 incl. payapal and next day courier. ...or £40 cash notes in advance. Duzzit help?
3.
..................................errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I don't suppose you have any spare rare as rocking horse sh*t 32 ohm 10" bass speakers have you???? Mike
I'll check. apoo... on ebay often sells them - or used to. I have a GP12SMX 410 combo that came to me with with only three in it - can't remember if I pulled them out or put one in.
4.
What have you got by way of a head, at least 250w into 8ohms, pricewise under £300? Cheers
Hmmm... 250w into 8ohms. They never did that that I know of. But please remember, these are 'old watts' amps. An old AH150 4x10 combo is enough for most theatre gigs with no PA support. Under £300 I can do a Series 2 AH250 - black painted wood finish, military green livery with the tone that set them on the map. Has some broken slider ends - they get soooo brittle - form carrying facing my leg when I got bumped. And no UV. But the graphic works perfectly. As does the rest of it. It has that smooooth sub thing that distracts you from teh fact that you are pinned to the wall with your face peeling back. At £300 + carr I can do a nice MarkV AH250 with the black light working. If you can find anyone near you who has a pre-Series 6 AH250 (not an SMX) give it a spin with your cabs and see if it is enuff..... ...which it will be....!
5. You are in luck! The only 18-ish ones I have are: An 18+10 (see last summer's famous everlasting thread for the flightcased one for £200 that I didn't buy only becasue I have this one - but now I have an AH350 which is designed to biamp one or a brace of 'em and I am kicking myself, except that where is it legal to even sound check the things?) A 12+15+18 full flight Mark 1? Mark2? silly huge thing that completely does bass beyond bass. A 15+18 which is the partner to the 12+15+18 (he had two?!?!?! what for????) with teh 12" section off it (but still full flight and face off and handle and wheels and all that) so that a single human can shift it. Sorreee....
6. How to put this? I have - ahem - too much Trace kit. I love it all and I have a good sized room, but I just added it all up and really, there is no excuse for a holding of this magnitude and I am not a John Henry or Matt Snowball. All great stuff - none of the Gibson era or later downgraded components and build quality. Just the models that made their name. Mk1 to Series 6. Combos from 150w to 300w and heads from 150w to 500w. About every cab configuration except 2x10, from 200w to 800w. But I do have a 200w 2x10+2x5 combo with a valve preamp ... Nothing under £150, but nothing over-the-top, either. All tech checked and working fine. Now... I am not wanting a 'kids in a sweetie shop' free-for-all 'wanna see some pics!' time waste, so please ask 'do you have a ...' rather than 'pics of everything, please!' Give us a preference for format and a budget and I'll come back with a list of kit to suit. You can then go on line and check the specs and reviews and all that. If something takes your fancy within your price range, we'll talk them through and I will do pics of the real contenders. Your chance to get 'that sound', from a home set-up to a stadium blasting super-rig. Or maybe kit out a studio or some practice rooms? Some flight cases, too. 7. Sweet. Thanks for the info. 'Tis the Gummo offer. Kind of thing to enjoy, then pass on and pull £20.
8. No ideas?
9. Gibson for dark. But a Tbird? Hmmm... Very much depends which version. A long scale EB-3 lets you give some treble lift to that hot mudbucker or an EB-1 = £3k well spent to get the Pappalardi ass-kick Always wanted to put my spare mudbucker on a P-copy. Why you would throw the sound away on an SVT rig, though, beats me. 8 x 10" drivers don't go 'down there'... My old trace 12+15+18, however, is only two strong chaps and a van away from a roped off demolition zone powerhouse tonality with most any input.... Cheap, too, 'cos it needs two strong chaps and a van....
10. I've had a few 'real ones', lots of EBs and an anniversary over the years. The best old ones had chunky bodies and clubby necks - wouldn't sell on 'feel' these days. Anything in the last 20 years has had fast/kiln dried brittle wood for bodies and necks. Not necessaroily straight or open grain - all would have been rejected previously. High gloss neck finishes were the thing back when, and IMHO beat the matte/stain-o-matic finsih paws down. If the new ones have 'real' pots and 'real' wiring and 'real' wood and gloss necks - mebbe worth the dosh v. a 'real one'. Certainly, the anniversary models were not up to much - I'm not big on cute body capping - a layer of adhesive adn a mismatch of wood grain/resonances to dampen the woody tonality... I don't reckon an accountant woudl let them get even close to the old values - and most people picking up a '76/7 would wonder WTF was up at the (pre-slim, pre-flat) time. But that's me....
11. Before I *** up and overspend on a fancy... ...any idea the model of this Roadstar ll series Ibanez jazz? it's the one on the left o'course... Any comments on this model? Any obvious bits missing (eg should it have a scratchplate?) I have been casting around old catalogues and google images to no avail. Thanks for your help!
12. Headrush 1 or Headrush 2?
13. Looks like Potaton is on the case. Funky. Nothing until today - then four interests!

Ace-ity on all levels.
15. Edinburgh, aye. There is nothing to show that's not in the catalogue shots because it is, like, 2 months old.

17. Chap up here is selling up his gubbins due to family issues. He bought a cab from me one't, so I am helping out... £400 seems the going wossname for a P Lyte. It is not the one on ebay. There is a big list 'o allsorts that you can PM for.
18. Yes, please.
19. Just to say it is a 120B model and it had a full tech checkover before it went doon sooth.

21. Hey My most immaculate and generally amazing 55-02 is now 'in the mix', so if yours goes on 'bay, you know where to come with your pennies.... Here 'tis sans plate.
22. These Slammer series guitars are nice. I have a wine burst and a yellow burst...
23. SVP Pro valve bass preamp. 1U rack format. Clean and happy. The SVP Pro preamp is the front end for the SVT Pro range of integrated amps. Recently discontinued but not replaced in the product line up. Lots of tone shaping with ‘the usual 5’ midrange voice options and the graphic sliders. All the ins and outs you could want for live and recording links. And its an Ampeg. Last lowest online price I could find was £430 from Dolphin Music. Last ebay sale was £260 for an older one which turned out to have some issues (hiya, Gav!). This one is in great shape and only £250. Delivery will be £15 overnight insured. Where did he get all that cool stuff...? Remember, this is a preamp so you will need to run it through a power amp to drive your speakers. Happy to answer any questions. Note: The stock photo is better than my phone will do - but it looks new anyway.
24. p/x potential is rife....
25. So... Ampeg SVT-15E 1x15 cab 200w RMS 8ohm ...current version. 6 weeks = 6 practices and 2 gigs old. Immaculate. I took this as a trade-in from a 4x10 convert. GAK now £421.
